Mariet this is fantastic!!! New Journey as I call 'that band' now will never ever be what it was with the greatest,most emotive singer on the planet ..Steve ''The Voice'' Perry!!! In my opinion Arnel Pineda has such a monotoned singing voice and I actually get very angry when I read or hear people comparing his singing voice to Steve Perry's. Steve Perry never had any other member of Journey sing any of their songs then live for him like Arnel Pineda has Deen Catronovo do for him.

OMG I absolutely love this man and his voice. Is there anyone else in the world that can still put forth these kind of feelings in so many different people from so many different parts of the world even after all these years---Not that I can think of. Nobody will ever compare to the remarkable talent of this man,,,,and this video of this song sure beats fighting through the trash that has littered so many of the other versions of Open Arms.

Perrygodmother, I have to agree with mistifers. It's Steve. I have an audio version of this song from 1983, and it is very similar, especially the part at 2:04...spot on. In that same concert, he took a few liberties with Lovin'Touchin'Squeezin'. I guess it just depends on how he is feeling on any given night.

This guy fades at the high notes, and what's with the venue?Sounds like three chicks whistling in a karaoke (sic) bar.

Perrygodmother: It's Japan... maybe they like to whistle? LOL. As far as the phrasing goes... one example is the word "sincere" around 00:22. He says it in such a specific way, and it's always the same. I don't know. To me, it is absolutely Steve without a doubt, IMHO of course. :D

Mariet, its my favorite song. I have this song on my phone and when it rings 99% of the time its my Guy Fred. It always makes me feel romantic and I stand wherever I may be and let it play up to the point when its going to go to voicemail. The girls at work think I'm nuts but listen to this, the passion and that voice, OMG

THANKS for posting Mariet..it sounds a bit different in tempo and emotion... what a great find... I wish the audio was better, but Steve Perry's VOICE is so incredible and emotive- that it still shines through the worst recorded audio or auditorium acoustics.
