Chuntoon-the e-collar in no way "electrocutes your dog AT ALL. I have used e-collars on hundreds of dogs and ALL of them are as happy as can be. My personal dogs get a e-collar and you can't tell whether they get one or not. You don't want your dog to respond 50 percent of the time you want 100%.
.....what does the "e" in e-collar stand for then?
.....when you shock someone/thing with electricity what are you doing to them?
my pup is 5 months old, responds 100% of the time and has NEVER had a choke, pinch or shock collar on
nor do a large % of the dogs who win obedience, herding, hunting , or tracking trails.
I rescued an aggressive dog and found a place for training collars, but its just the lazy mans tool & above all, the original point I made, its for corrections not teaching
Great video! I trained my girl heel with this method - except with a prong instead of a choker and didn't make AS hard corrections. ^__^
She's already used to her e-collar, so it was basically for the heel, which I had no idea how to teach. After watching this video, I went to try it out and she responded so well! :)
electrocuting your dog is no way to teach it anything,,nor is a prong or choke collar,,,once a dog knows an exercise and chooses to ignore your command these tools have a place in training ... people are so quick to beat a dog into submission cus' they don't know how to teach it,,you teach a command - practice command - add distractions - when a dog will respond at LEAST 50/50 with distractions,,aka it understands the exercise,,corrections can help get your dog to respond EVERY time
how is this eletricution or beating the dog into submision.god you make it sound so inhumain.a dog will tell u if its hurt via yelping. notice the waging tail and smile durring training. obviously the dog is not hurt. please dont make ridiculous coments whitout reseaching the subject and knowing at least a little bit about it.
a) I said corrections (aka - shock collars) can help
b) I was responding to the other comment,,who said he used the collar TO TEACH 'heel', NOT this video or the dog in it,, the first thing the guy says is FIRST teach your dog basic obedience && repeats it a number of times "at least a few weeks of obedience before we start any conditioning" conditioning = corrections, 'remember the dog knows the sit command', he repeats
c) people beat their dogs badly and they still wag the tail and smile,
a) "once a dog knows an exercise and chooses to ignore your command these tools have a place in training"
b) I WAS NOT talking about the dog in the video ,who was taught 'sit' before the collar was added and then had it reinforced with the collar (though they never give it a chance to sit w/ out correction, the video is about transitioning from choke to shock collar, not timing corrections)
c) utube will not let me post links, just google it, look at the picturesHope you understand what i sed
well, when your limited by the character count,,you try and find a way to get your point without referring to the 'hooked on phonics' books .. not that your grammar OR spelling has been good...so its funny you'd say that
but personal attacks are the last refuge of people who've been proven wrong on utube. Good luck w/ that!!
obviously my grammer is readable as aposed to yours. i think its ridulis for ppl to insult spelling and grammer on youtube. but i cudnt understand wtf u were saying. and i was simply comenting that i cudnt understand what it sed and asked you to revise it which u didnt. proly meaning u did look at it and saw how ludacris your claims and argument was and was to embarassed to resend your shitty comment
again so that a 5 year old could understand that I was repeating the same points.
Clearly anyone who states "i think its ridulis for ppl to insult spelling and grammer on youtube" and then goes on to insult my grammar...isn't the brightest bulb
again, personal attacks just prove you have no more valid arguments to make && good luck electrocuting your dog,,I'll be the guy with the positively trained dog winning the agility trials
talk about grammar ... wtf is that mess you sent me?!
The original comment I responded to, the person said "I used the electric collar to TEACH my dog 'heel'", the commenter had nothing to do with the video or the dog in it.
In your response to my comment, you said the dog in the video was fine or unhurt. I agree completely and had no problem with the video or the trainer or dog in it.
In the video, the guy teaches the dog to 'sit' long before the choke or shock collar is put on to it. He says, several times & in several ways, teach your dog the command before you 'condition' the dog. At 0:50, he says it, "you must teach you dog basic obedience then...", at 2:00 he says "remember before we start any kind of condition we need to have gone through the for a couple of weeks, like basic obedience, chasing the bumper....",
2:20 he reminds you again "Now remember, you dog already knows sit", at 3:50, he says AGAIN, "remember you don't start this till you dog knows what sit is"
"condition" is the word he uses, I use 'correct' or use 'corrections'. What we mean is the same thing, you don't use the collar to TEACH anything, you use it to reinforce it. The dog knows the command & then you 'proof' (its another word dog people use) the dog by giving it corrections or conditioning when it doesn't obey.
listen I've repeated myself several different ways. If you still don't get it to bad!!
If your dog doesn't listen to you without a choke or e then ur a pretty crappy dog owner and should not be allowed to have a dog.
