Animals have feelings just like humans. If a baby was born with out legs or arms should it be put down? Same with animals! Why put an animal down if missing a body part when it looks like it is havin the best time of its life! If they are healthy, happy, and can get around and no pain let it live!

That kind of effect doesn't occur due to over breeding per se. It comes from serious genetic faults. It's obvious when that many puppies have that same trait in a litter. The owner of the parents should not continue to have puppies with those dogs!

it is completely unfare that the news reporter had that it is a case of inbreeding and backyard breeders, this is not completely true my chihuahuas are akc and one of our babies was born without its front legs and it was not an inbred or back yard breeding sitcuation.

This is a prime example of why dogs should not be bred. The breeder was ignorant, irresponsible and obviously only interested in monetary gain. (As shown by surrendering the puppies to the local SPCA!) This breeder just added to the 6+ million unwanted animals that flood into shelters every year. I don't see this as a happy ending. These little guys may be adopted but they just stole the chance of adoption away from other shelters dogs. I'm happy to say I'm the proud owner of 4 rescues!

thank you for getting info. out about poor breeding practices. I have a little chi who was born without her front legs. she was the product of a BYB who was trying to get the perfect color and size she wanted. Gidget is now 11 months old and getting wheels in about 2 weeks. She is a little 3 pound "BALL OF FIRE" she puts my 95 lb black lab in his place all the time. I also have a little 2 pound hydro pup that was thrown away in a trash can 3 years ago due to having seizures and lots issues.
