You'll need a more advanced editing program such as Sony Vegas (which is what I use). Windows Movie Maker can't read the file that Instant DVD Recorder records, and rendering it in Vegas will put it in a format that WMM can use.

It's good quality, that's for sure. How much did you pay? And what mic are you using? The one complaint i have with my commentary is that my mic is too muffled.

It cost $80 and I used a headset mic for my commentary, plus I recorded with the Dazzle's program for the game audio at the same time.

They get more expensive as they get more uses. Mine is the cheapest model and doesn't support 60Hz video and uses a shitty recording program, but I still got away with one test video as a fluke, and this one is desynced, but ever so slightly. The Dazzle Video Creator Platinum is your best bet as it's much easier to work with, but the ~$200 price tag is something to consider.

I've never heard of a HD Pvr, and I also don't know how much $200 is in other countries, heh. Sorry I can't be more help to you.

howd you do commentary? is there a way to do it in studio 12 at the same time as video?

I didn't use Studio 12, I used a combination of Pinnacle Recorder (that comes with the Dazzle Instant DVD Recorder) and FRAPS and synced them both together, and even that didn't work because they get more and more off sync as the video goes on.

How much is that DVD recorder, to what screen did you connect it and how did you connect it. Nice video with funny commentary.

$80, a shitty SD 14" TV and I used two splitters to connect it to the Dazzle and the TV at the same time.

You may want to avoid the Dazzle Instant DVD Recorder and go for another Dazzle model instead, such as the Video Creator Platinum. The model that I have doesn't support 60Hz video, which will be a serious problem and was for me in testing.

@TheGameMaster Hey, thank for the reaction. Me and my friend were planning to buy te Dazzle Video Creater. Not the Platinum. The platinum was about €100,- that's €128 I guess. The regular Dazzle Video Creator is €75,- that is $90 I think. You think th PLatinum is like way better or something? Sorry for the bad spelling, my keyboards freaking slow right now.

I'm not sure about the plain Video Creator, but either one will work a lot better than the DVD Recorder that I have. You'll have to look up the differences between the Video Recorder and the Platinum, I only have the DVD Recorder and I know the Video Recorder works a lot better because a friend and I couldn't have possibly done our co-op playthrough without it.

Yeah, that's not Australia though. In Australia, a copy of Dark Sector is as easy to find as a gold bar in a haystack.

If anything, the fact that we don't have Gamestops or Wal-Marts is questionable. :^(

You may not notice it, but this video is actually desynced, it's just too short to notice if you aren't looking for any desync.

A method to record that my friend showed me is to use FRAPS to record just the preview window with a microphone recording both the game and your voice. It fixes the desynch issue, but your only problem is sound balance, which shouldn't be too hard to solve.

Ideally, you'll want a headset mic and if you plan on doing commentary it'll sound horrible if you use the laptop mic. Your best bet is a good set of speakers and a headset mic, but if that's not an option, just a headset mic is best.

I played the demo of the game and I thought it was really fun. The boss at the end was a pain! It's the boss that you fight at a church. It's really large and covered in black stuff. It jumps around on the pillars until you hit it with fire and you shoot it in the jaw. It took me half an hour to beat it. I don't know how I killed it. Do you just hit it with electricity and fire over and over again once it stays on the ground until it dies? Or did I do something that I got lucky with?

You fought the "Colossus" boss. You're supposed to toss a fire-infused Glaive at him to burn the pillars down and force him to fight you on the ground, and every time you set him on fire, do as much damage as possible with powerThrows and handgun shots. If he's not on fire, he won't take any damage. The fight can last less than five minutes if you know what to do, so you basically got lucky figuring it out.

Best thing is, there's another boss later who is far worse than that. :^P

I searched how to kill "Colossus" and once he stays on the ground, he takes a lot more damage from the fire if you hit him with a fire-infused power throw Glaive when he emits a green gas *insert bad fart joke here*.

What I want to know is what's with the electricity generator? It doesn't do anything to Colossus. Do you use it to solve a puzzle right after the boss or something?

The electricity generator can also be used to damage him the exact same way you use the fire, except I don't think you can use it to burn down the pillars.

I hardly use it. It's put in a spot where you have to be sitting in a very small area and aim just right to be able to hit it, whereas the fire is right there on the ground.

The thing is, it isn't banned, per se, it's refused classification. The difference is, banned games aren't allowed to be sold at all. Refused classification games are only not allowed to be sold in retail stores.

you have the white dazzle? when i use instant dvd recorder it makes the audio sped up or out of time and and the video is normally sped up? i also tried windows movie maker but it laggs during recording and not that great of quality. Anyhelp please?

I use Sony Vegas (version 8.0, I believe) to render the recorded video, it seems to work fine for me. Quality is never an issue, it doesn't lag and looks good. Perhaps tweak the settings and see what you get? I just started recording without needing to change any settings.

I'm using my Dazzle to record the game video and game audio, plus FRAPS to record the preview window for the game video and my commentary. I initially thought that would help me sync it easily, but there was still desync, I just didn't notice it because the video was short.

At the time, I recorded the game and its sound with the Dazzle, and my voice and the game with FRAPS using the preview window. This allowed me to change the sound balance to where I wanted it and try to sync it, but there turned out to be some minor desync. This is how I made this video because the desync was almost unnoticable, which even I didn't see until after I uploaded this. >_>'

A friend came up with the idea of recording only the preview window, without using the Dazzle to record at all. This solves the desync problems, but you have to get the microphone in the exact spot to get the sound balance right, which I have not yet been able to do.

That was a reference to an episode of The Simpsons where Bart becomes addicted to the food in the school's new vending machines and becomes obese. He eventually destroys all of the machines in the school, and later on he comes to the one he put all of his money into.

He hits it once (with a sledgehammer or something, I can't remember), it falls over and due to its damage, the vending machine malfunctions and says "Yo, I'm gonna cap a pop in yo ass."

It just sprung to mind when I was recording.

It was banned because of "Realistic Violence". Meaning that when you sever an enemy soldier's limb, they will fall to the ground and scream in agony for about ten seconds. Also, the dismemberment and decapitations generally helped this game get an R18+ rating.

If it was banned due to that scene you mentioned, I wouldn't have though that the rating system we have now could have been any worse until I heard the reason...
