  • I flew ASW with HS 3, 1968 to 71. It was very scary at times. Do I miss those dark miserable winter nights over the North Atlantic dipping a sonar dome to listen for Russian subs that were never there? F--K no!!

  • @boldchrome The Bonnie had Sea Horses, not Sea Kings. She was scraped to the Japanese before the Kings came into service, nice try!!!

  • @derekby1 They flew Sea Kings off Bonnie.

  • nooooo F way,.............................

  • good pilots

  • rock on sea kings

  • This would be a Canadian frigate? I wasn't aware the US used the bear trap

  • I have a photo of a US seaking that was going to ditch at sea due to some sort of failure, the Captain of the Kiwi leander class frigate "Waikato(FFH55)" that i served on told the pilot to land on the flight deck of our ship which was designed for a small westland wasp helo, the pilots landed and shutdown the Sea king on the ship, there is only inches to spare and looks quite comical sitting there, i suppose that saved the US govt some money lol

  • Holy cow! it doesn't look like the see king

  • I wonder how many of those crash landed on decks that doesn't look easy at all!

  • 15 CH-124 Sea King fatality crash (completly destroyed) since 1963. Manye were due of the bad condition like that, or the age. The bear trap (The canadian invention) as permit to Canadian forces to do Search & Rescue or Anti-Submarines missions in bad weather in sea states 7 to 9.

Canadian Forces had in 1963, 50 CH-124 sea king, today only 27 (15 fatality crash, the rest sold to scrap and the remaining are in end life since 10 years but Canada still use it...)

  • @Jimderkaisser Where do you get your information from? Originally there were 41 Sea Kings, 441 is the highest of the tail numbers. Today, 2011 there are 28 helos still in service, which would equal to a loss of 13 airframes due to whatever reasons. To this day no sea king helicopter has been sold or scraped.

  • Memories. I was there in the eighties doing it. What cool memories.

  • Yeeeeeeeeeeeepaaaa!!!! Amazing video!
