@fastyria Haha, thanks fastyria. My good friend suggested I film something in slow motion and black and white with this kind of music. Rather than re-film new footage, I just took my original post HYBRID FIGHTING METHOD, and made it b&w, slow mo, and changed the music. It was mainly and experiemtn to see which video people liked better. Personally, I don't even know what a slow dissolve is, that's totally not my language. But I do welcome all feedback. Thanks for taking the time to post.
@teej1980 A slow cross dissolve is the transition between one piece of footage to another, it gradually fades from A to B. What I meant was that the action starts during the transition when you basically see two images blend because the transition's kinda slow, which makes it hard to see the first part of the action. Sorry for my movie lingo. I make films for a living. I'm also into MMA and standup comedy. I love these kinda vids you're posting, please keep them coming!
This style looks great, my only concern is that the gentleman you are demonstrating all of the techniques on is a great actor, almost too good. it makes some of the moves look unrealistic. the fact that all of the footage is in slow motion also makes it easy for someone to see the attackers exaggerated movements.
@cbox121 Thanks for your feedback. And you are right, he IS a great actor :-) This is for two reasons. One, I don't want to actually hurt him (as this video is for demonstration purposes only) - and two, if he doesn't play the part it would look really stupid BECAUSE I'm not actually hurting him.
Tony Blauer calls this "being a good bad guy". He moves as if I was kicking his groin, because if he doesn't, I'll have to really kick him in the groin...and so the effects of each tech are shown.
@teej1980 yes i understand. I am glad you didnt take this as an attack on you or HFM. I totally understand why he has to be a good bad guy, i teach martial arts myself and demonstrating during classes is easier with someone who can play the part. Best of luck to you and HFM.
who ever filmed and edit this, stop using slow cross dissolves, it makes the moves real hard to see. Other then that great video
