that fight was bullshit sugar was old as fuck he made some quick cash and took a little ass whipping for 4 million. Not an impressive win for Hector he fought a shell of a fighter.
This was an "old man" fight. Both were well past their sell-by date. I first saw Leonard when he beat Benitez in 1979, Camacho ca. 1982 (when Leonard first quit because of a detached retina). Like you, Prez, I knew of the Norris fight but only years later heard of this. I assumed he'd quit after Norris. Imo his last serious fight was against Hagler, when Marvelous got suddenly old. Leonard confessed he had nothing left after round 6; those fast flurries had nothing in them.
@DodgeDweller420 i totally agree with you and state that leonard in his prime was something special. and you might even agree with me that even when ray fought hagler his best days were a few years behind him. leonard had blinding handspeed, the fastest that i have ever witnessed. to me he is the greatest welter of all time.
Leonard was a rabbit. He should have stayed retired before he stole Hagler's belt by running. He could have dropped his shorts in the middle of the Hagler fight and won the round.
I'm so glad a non-fighter like Camacho ended his disgraceful "Comebacks." I can't imagine how anyone landed a punch with the two of them running from eachother the whole time.
Did Camacho cross the finish line first? And funny that this fight doesnt exist on YouTube, huh? PS - Hagler won. Leonard ran.
@thafeelinghurter chavez was a hell of a fighter!! tough, a lot of heart, could punch, no quit, everything that defines a champion. Now was he the best 140 in his era?? i would have 2 say no. And i say no becuz when he fought the other GREAT fighters in his division he struggled (wit the exception of camacho). He dominated my boy camacho but look at what meldrick taylor did 2 him in that classic 1st fight. Pernell whitiker beat him as well even though they called it a draw...
@Dapdaddydet i like you alreddy man ! chavez was okay somewat ? now pls let you tube know what how and why taylor vs chavez 2 went the way it did ? p.s. marciano # 1 fav but chavez is my biggest mystery
@thafeelinghurter lol thanks man.. Hey we'll never b able to convince these hardcore chavez fans why that second fight went the way it did although u & i both know why so im not even gonna get into all that.. (lol) Now i have no problem wit u havin marciano #1 u can make a case 4 that but i believe the reason why he's always overlooked is becuz he never fought a young dangerous figher in his prime which really is no fault of his because by the time ali & his peers came up marciano was retired
dam ? dapdaddydet makes for a hella good commentator ! (YOUTUBE WAT YA THINK ????????? alrite now for tha good stuff , my personal favs are marciano #1 (becos its rare for a lite lite lite skin guy to destroy all ! lol )mayweather #2 (becos he grew up 7 deep in a 1 bedroom shack like my brokeass self and most americans too ! ) mr. macho time ! #3 lol (bcos he enjoyed his flashy glitzy fun time in the spotlite ! nuff said >>>> now if you have a few favs pls tell us all and the reason too .
who are we kidding? He got the shit beat out of him. He'd already got knocked to the floor and his legs were trembling when he got to his feet. The ref saved his life but he couldnt save his reputation
I remember this fight pretty well... Leonard pulled his right calf muscle really bad before this fight, so he couldn't push-off when he threw his right had...plus his footwordk was hindered.
that's just his excuse for failing to knock out a guy he was expected to destroy. It's not his fault Camacho was so brilliant the way he turned into a little hagler and had him stagger all over the ring, then pounding every square inch of his body on the ropes, leaving him in a paroxysm of pain and fear and finally into a quivering mass of flesh, never to show his face in a ring again.
Congradulations hector for a job well done and being the first man to destroy the great srl
for not being known as a knockout fighter,38 ko's is pretty good. Though he had 85 total fights and 79 of them wins and 5 losses in his older age. Still impressive.
Yea I know I use to go to madison garden to see Hector 'Macho' Camacho back in 1980's.I lost track of his fights in the 1990's.But i do remember when he was young.Hector was very arrogant and very fast and slick Boxer.
Prez the video has been up for months. hector was spectacular it was his last great performance. we know that hector had been way past it for 8 o 9 years but still beat up the bigger man. Hector was 4 time champion and no losses throughout the 80s. Leonard? Well who cares about him?
