Iwatched the Vulcan come in to North Weald on the friday befroe Fighter Meet Airshow Sat / Sun many years ago. Sat on top of my car as it came in... shook me to the floor as it passed over me and then the pilot did a wing wave feet from touch down before powering off in to the sky for a fun go around. Deafened and bruised (no really!) I loved every second of it!!
I read recently (Aircraft Illustrated - April 2008) that the rest of XH558's flight test programme will be delayed until sufficient funds are collected. The Vulcan to the Sky Trust is a registered charity.
This is why the U.K. needs to develop another bomber...its a gorgeous machine. Oh, and BTW, it was almost a proto-stealth bomber. With that shape the lowered radar returns were noticed pretty early on...just a tidbit to chew on.
lol at the top comment "is it in active service" guess what nationality they are :D

I can remember the noise from one of these beauties during the RAF St Athan airshow in Barry South Wales.
So loud that it hurt your ears.
