People seem to focus on the banjo("Reverend" Don Wayne Reno), but I find the mandolin player("Deacon" Dale Reno) and violinist(John Wheeler AKA Barley Scotch) to be much more impressive.

It's much harder to interpret these songs so well on those instruments, then it is on the banjo(basically a different sounding guitar).

Try to play a guitar song on mandolin, It's weird as hell.

I play banjo, guitar, and mandolin and I would say mandolin is more similiar to guitar than banjo is, at least playing 3 finger or "Scruggs style" banjo like Don Wayne there does. Of course he uses a little single string technique during his breaks but it helps it fit that kind of music.

What's with all the hate comments? These guys are obviously talented musicians, who are putting a unique and humerous spin on a great collection of calssic songs. It's really hard to carve out a niche in music these days and I applaud them for succeeding as such. I'd go see them if they came to illinois. :)
