what can i do to block the gaurd pass while working rubber gaurd ive just started using it and thats the one problem i have is keeping my opponent in my gaurd is there maybe a step im leaving out
You have to squeeze your knees at all times. Eddie explains how to prevent the guard pass specifically in another video. Go to my page, look in my favorites for Eddie Bravo rubber guard basics video.
A couple of things. I'm not an expert but I've discovered a couple. When he pushes your leg down to pass, if you're fast you can push his arm through, throw your leg over and lock up that triangle. If you're far enough along in the positions, say at least New York, you can quickly go for Omoplata and then he can't roll out because you have the Carni (I'm sure there's a vid up on here for that). And like VegasDailies said, Squeeze!
Assuming your pressue is good in all the right places it sounds like you're just not taking the quite the right angle. Try shifting your hips out just enough so that your base is on one hip. If your tight and they can't pin the rubber guard hip to the floor it's a tough position to escape from, much less pass. 10th Planet game is awesome. Very technical - requires lots of reps to get good at. Good luck.
Eddie says that Tim Credeur (yes, the dude from TUF), did this same move! He's giving the credit to Tim Credeur you numbnuts (rtfmplz) - if you are gonna criticize, at least listen to the damn video before you go get all defensive! Let me guess, you spend hours with your CACC friends arguing whether Superman would beat Batman in a fight? Jeez Louise - if you don't like no gi JJ, then stick to CACC!
rtfmplz, hes not calling the shoulder walk the "Credeur" hes talking about after you shoulder walk you put your free foot when in the triangle in between your opponents legs and it tightens up like mad. you can also sweep them onto their back if you extend your leg back out while its in between his legs...
10th Planet JJ instruction is totally amazing. I mean, I can get this stuff locked into memory so quick because the way it is presented makes it so easy to understand. Thanks.
Funny how everyone likes to argue as to who created what move first when in reality its virtually impossible to actually "create" a new move. I've seen NOTHING new in eddie's system that I haven't seen elsewhere. And the "kreeder" as eddie keeps referring to it is simply called "shoulder walking" in catch wrestling. But we all know how much eddie has a hard on for CACC...even though no 10th Planet person will grapple us They think shoulder walking is new and we've been doing it all along.
@rtfmplz eddie actually points out when he doesn't make something, take the twister for example. He goes out of his way to point out he got it from wrestling he only tweaked it (added the neck crank) to make it applicable to bjj. You haven't seen anything new? Where else have you seen the double bagger to straight jacket?
I like the scooting backwards to break the person down if they try to stack you. I got that from Gustavo Dantas a couple years ago and it works really well. Aweosme vid thanks for putting up for ever one to see.
I would love to train with eddie or in his gym!

it's pronounced "cray-der" (I'm from louisiana lol)

Pretty cool. Question though: doesn't hooking the leg also accomplish not letting your opponent stack you when you've got the triangle sinked in?
Ligierthegreensun 1 year ago
@Ligierthegreensun ya i'm pretty sure it does that too... same concept as when you hook a leg when doing armbars...

German names pronounce "eu" as "ay", so it's pronounce "Krayger", Eddie was right. Whoever shouted over the masta should pipe down

I think it's just as easy to do a meat hook to triangle.
