Jesus that moose was a juggernaut. the guide claims that all 3 hits which is surprising seeing how little it phased the moose, but even after the final shot he just kind of sat there looking around before decided he was hurting enough to fall over.
First thing we do when hunters arrive is take them out back and have them sight in their rifles. So whether the rifle is off or the hunter cant shoot, we know about it and get them closer to the animal if need be. This hunter was one of the better shots ive seen. What viewers dont get is how big these animals are. They dont drop in one shot like pathetic weak deer. Theyre heart is massive. And if your first shot is off, you shoot again to drop him.
@BenStourac Exactly I got my first moose this year in B.C. got lucky took 4 shots hit him twice. I didnt even know I had hit him on the first shot untill I got up to him(hart lungs). I was lucky and dropped him with a neck shot at 250 yards. But ya a moose will shrug off a bullet and still live for quite some time even if mortally hit.
I think guides should teach people hut to hunt b4 they take them out, or at least first make sure they know how to shoot a rifle.
That moose couldnt have been more than 100 yards and the guy misses?? I could have t aken that moose with my 44 mag pistol from that range in less shots he took with his rifle...but oh well he ended up getting it
@freestylmx311 This moose was 150 yards away. I would like to see someone drop a Yukon/ Alaskan moose in 3 shots or less from that distance with a 44 mag. Good luck. You'll have a run away moose with holes in him and you wont have a chance in hell of finding him in the terrain up there. You will NOT have a blood trail to follow through those willows.
My hunter hit the moose every shot fired. The moose meat was perfectly fine, a little bloodshot as per usual where the bullet penetrated, but 2 bullets were through the heart and lungs, and another a tad higher. 150 yard shot, the only issue was his cartridge jamming when he cocked the bolt back due to his gorillapod being in the way. Lesson learned.
Horrible horrible shooting. You need to keep in mind the skills required by the hunter in order to make an ethical kill. This was a great example of how not to hunt. How many yards out was this animal? Did you even bother to sight in your scope?
