  • do you let the paint dry before you put the next couler on

  • @FenderStratster

    yep. anyting else, captin' abviuz?

  • Just a heads up, this technique also works to make rusted/burnt corrugated metal if you use black as the bottom coat and drybrush thin layers of Mithril Silver/Red Gore.

  • i use this a lot i love rust eeffects i use them for my space mearns i use them for baes like a taken over ork base I HATE ORKS space mearns all the wayyyyy

  • @nicksthepimp what the fuck is spache mearns?

  • I love it!

Now i know how to rust effects to my terrain. : )

  • getting in to making fallout (the game) models/buildings/miniatures/dioramas. This is perfect for that as you will know if you have played the game

  • ...i use these tips for my Star Wars Dioramas...thxu...

  • ...nice trick...

  • Awesome. Thanks for that sanding block tip. I've never been happy with the way my cardboard "tin roofs" worked out, but after watching this I think it should go pretty well.

  • This is one helluva useful tutorial building a WAAAGH diarama will be using this alot for sure. Great job

  • After three years, Dave makes a video called: Corrugated craft paper VS Cardboard...

  • Im doing this and making a big building out of it and then paint it like that and use the cans from there other videos and combind them into one big center peice

  • That is such a good effect, it looks fucking amazing and it so simple to do too

  • cheap bisness that time

  • awsome

  • so awsome

  • ah! man that is so awsome

  • wow that was quick

  • @blartobert could you please stop ripping on miniwargaming, okay?

their tutorials might not be perfect but at least its easy to make and not at expert level so new wargamers can make terrain too

so if you dont have anything nice to say dont say anything!!!!

  • @speedyfreek15 Of course, that one person that fails to see the point of it all. If you don't understand the meaning of my comment then don't reply to me at all with your eager fingers doing exclamation points. Btw who said anything about expert level ? I certainly didn't ? I only said good tutorials, which means with the same level of easy standard, but only with BETTER result.....

  • @blartobert ok you are right whatever...

so you say there are better tutorials could you please give me the website or name to find it on youtube thanks :)

  • @blartobert cheaper than cardboard.....?

think before you post, and if you are going to tell us there is better tutorials, might it be an idea to acctually TELL US WHAT THEY ARE?

a dude, go take a look at some acctual pices of rusty metal, then come back and tell us what is different from them to this? ohh, and more isnt always better.

  • @NumbingPain151 Okay, I'm smarter than you, so that's why I know that i'm right. Okay let's do this, how do i describe a whole rust effect guide with only 500 sign hm ? yeah exactly asshole, read up on the games workshop "How to paint citadel tanks" The rust effects in this book can be applied to any surface you idiot, And please think before u answer, geeez what a nub.

  • @blartobert

how to describe a entire guide in only 500 characters... A LINK? for gods sake man.

you are smarter than me? -.-" how do you know, you haven't even met me. For all you know I could be Stephen hawking.

But thanks for replying :) because I laughed so hard when I read you comment :P

  • @NumbingPain151 Okay, 1st of, you are not Stephen Hawking, 2nd i don't need to have met you to realize that i'm smarter then you, your statements made it pretty clear from the beginning, 3rd A link !? A link on the whole frkn book with several step by step tutorials ? Indeed you are an idiot, i just thought you were kidding at first. About the laugh thing, laugh away, i don't care ? Search on Ultrawerke Rust effects on google and see the results asswipe.

  • @blartobert I dont hear you. I dont hear what you say because you're not existing.

  • dakadakadakadakadakadakadakadaka!

  • Nice i made some with this efect

  • tip : dont over paint the the brown or itll suck

and paint the metal diagnol so it'll look the most realistic

  • i like it ill do it for homemade orc barcades that look good

  • small amouts of vomit brown and graveyard earth also help i reckon.

  • you can rip off both layers of cardboard so it doesn't look weird from the other side, just hot glue down the insides of the corrugated parts on both sides.

  • OMG! i got blood red, scorched brown and boltgun metal! (im not retarded)

  • Haha xD

  • incredible

  • for rust on my chaos warriors (nurgle) wich is on there armor i first used rotting flesh.. then drybrushed a dwarven bronze.. then at the end i dd a reeally light drybrush of chaos black to give the dwarven bronze a darker less glimmering effect

  • todd likes 8=========D

  • @MegaFUZZYDICE that smily face looks like a huge dick no offense it looks gay

  • incredibly useful you rule dave

  • i ment piece :p

  • nice work:p, but taking a painted peace, of tank or terrain you can use some boltgun metal (Drybrush) and add some Gryphonne Sepia it looks good

  • maby 2 much red...

  • looks surprisingly good no offence

  • It's not bad.

To be honest, though, I achieve a much better looking rust effect by first doing a basecoat of boltgun, then a chestnut ink wash, then a drybrush in boltgun, then finally a light drybrush in chainmail

  • i got some free cardbopard so i might try this

  • @TenaciousD872 you got some free shit bozo, you got some free shit. im kidding its from rucka rucka ali osama bin found

  • @TenaciousD872 Yer man I got some cardboard to. Hit me up with yo address and i'll post it your way. Living the blessed life 11inch

  • @11inchforever haha no need now matey, that comment was from two years ago lol

  • ahah 1:15 "jizz" haaha nice vid too ill use it !! thanks dave yur the best!

  • thats a cool effect and looks really easy to do , for my corrugated iron I have been using corrugated art card but will try your way now.

  • awesome great idea thanks

  • Nice - we use thinned pained ofc?

  • i cant get it to stand up like a corroded metal fence any tips ps its so simple yet extremely effective/useful in so mny ways

  • I use some bits of sprue, glue one going up and down on the back, and then put another one horizontally only slightly at an angle at the bottom. Kinda like this... /_

  • use thicker cardboard

  • I must check it in my table for warhammer. GJ

  • can you use grey and not silver

  • hahaaha jizz lol omg omg 1:16 lol wow

  • hahahaha omfg i didn't notice

  • he said which it is....

  • hahahaha

  • The paints are most likely Delta Ceramcoat or Apple Barrel. They are widely available in craft stores like Michaels and cost less than half of GW paints. However, the pigment (what makes the color) is not as finely ground so they usually have poorer coverage and are not as consistent overall. That said, they are excellent for terrain projects and figure bases. Really worth checking out.

  • Wow very simple but simple and sick

  • ah no they dont, i didnt notice that part:P

but he said theyre equivillant (or however u spell it) to those citadel colours

  • boltgun metal, blood red and scorched brown are paint colours used in citadel miniatures :P

  • thats hardcore effects

  • im a lazy terrain maker i just take old legos and build bunkers and such

  • gasp he said the l ward

  • "lazy" or "legos"?

  • lego

  • Might try this with dead necrons on terrain peices, might work well :)

yea DEAD NECRONS never heard of it either.

  • Necrons sukkkk!

  • like i said; dead necrons on terrain peices, never said i play them, leave that to my endless Nid swarm :P

Oh and i have seen some good necron players around; its about whos playing the race, not the race itself that sucks.

    you spelt suck wrong :p

  • i no i spelt it wront i just take shortcuts when i can and are NId swarms tyranid? i play tyranids they are AWSOME! maybe u can give me tips on how to paint them!

  • XD no chance i am a USELESS Nid painter; my colour scheme is a symplified hive fleet leviation; spray undercoat white, paint black carapace and edges purple then paint anything pointy red XD

  • i have seen a lot of your videos and i am shocked of what you guys are making out of nothing. keep the good work opp xD

  • Going to try this =O

  • Wow im not going to lie. You guys make some of the BETS tutorials ever. I love miniature games , and ive been recentaly trying to make my own terrain . Your tutorials give SOOO many tips and helpful hints. Thank you guys , and PLEASE PLEASE keep it up!

  • i think orange istead of red will give a more realistic efect...

  • It actually depends on what kind of metal there is, there is orangish rust and also reddish rust

  • thx for making vid, but it does not look good, sry..

  • NICE

  • I have build a lof of this and upgraded my city ruins terrain with it. Looks fantastic!

    Thx miniwargaming!

  • Good,Very good.

    I will try that made.

  • yh im tryin this now but its very hard getting excess layers out of the ridges without sandpaper

  • I used a knife for the big bitsbut for all tiny bits I just soaked them in superglue and pressed them down. It would also work if you soaked the whole thing in a thin layer of watered down wood glue

  • OOOOOHHHH SHIT THATS CLEVER!!!

  • Hey i got a question for you guys, i kind of got to much paint on my chaos space marines, how can i remove paint ? Someone told me to use alcohol to wipe down the paint but i´m not to sure about that, thx for the answer =)

  • I would go with just priming it again, but it makes it REALLY thick and will most likely clog the small details.

  • that´s the problem ^^ my csm´s are already thick with paint that´s why i want to get the paint off =)

  • using textured paint works well with this

  • would using the games workshop roughcoat work too? i think it would...in theory-lol

  • i would suppose so but another vid wil show ya how to make textured paint for cheap

  • Sweet, thanks. I'll be looking for it in a little while, so I subscribed. (Although u don't need to hurry too much)

  • just a huge fanatic and eger to his huge gameday this weekend

  • Nice. (I wish I could go to some 40K tournaments, but my army is still in the making...sad face)

  • everyone starts that way(remmanicing) i remember my first khorn berzerker squad

  • ugh...chaos...

    lol

  • you know you love it

  • Great. Now you're making me second-guess myself...lol ( become Utube friends?)

  • sure but ya gotta love chaos man even though we got nerfed ( i miss you khorne lord with 9 power wepon attacks) we can still get the job done

  • the only thing i see wrong is the red i think it would look better with darker red

  • this is awesome good job:D!

  • awesome! :D

  • thanks guys frim miniwargaming! i used this method to make an ork hut for mu assult on black reack set

  • Comment removed

  • Why u watching this video then

  • I love the barricade things at 1:25!

They look like those ork barriers just not half burried cars!

  • Tip: One thing i noticed is that if u put tinfoil down then use the side of a pen or pencil and gently smooth out the ridges you can see the ridges that way it looks like it started as metal and u add in the brown and red with no silver. CarbonGamingLtd.

  • my isiter workes at michales so i get a dis count on all the stuf i buy

  • You lucky duck!

  • that looks awsome i want to try it

  • thanks for this video helped me alot, this also inspired me to make the oil thingie at 1:22 it looks awesome :D

  • Would that work on the mini's weapons?

  • i have made the building on 1:19:D

  • Very Good and useful. keep it up

  • that is amazing!

  • Dude That is SWEEEEET!!! I like the unique layering method. The sand block to clean up the coragation is pure genious!!!! I'm going to have to try that!!!

  • why so sad music?

  • Lol i dunno, makes me feel like those houses have been there for centurys after the world died....

    Random but. lol ... Imagination

  • you have a very good point there, lol :P forgot bout that bit. but it really is worth it, you could use a hairdryer, and you do get a perfect non cardboard looking finish.

  • i know bits r cut out to avoid unnecessary footage, anyone who doesnt notice has a problem. my point is it makes you wonder....how long did this really take?, i stick to my guns and say my way is still quicker :D

  • Actually, it only took him about 5 minutes. If you soaked the cardboard, wouldn't you have to wait a while for it to dry? ;)

  • than quit watching this, if you want to watch someone painting than do it yourself

  • lol, no one said that it is done in 2 minutes. obviously people can tell it is cut to speed up the video and leave out unnecessary footage.

  • They probably just did it to speed the video up.

  • lawl, love looking at retard's trying to insult things like this.

  • lol u spelled lol wrong ur a retard.

  • You spelled, 'your' wrong you retard.

  • you owned him :P

  • totally.

  • hehe

    :D

  • FYI,dumbass. It's spelled "You're" not "Your".

When correcting a noob, at least do it right.

  • And you, too are correct. Atleast I'm not going to argue with you, unlike many other "newbs".

  • *puts on a monocle and a tophat*

I say old chap, this internet thing can not spell right!

  • Damn, Straight.

  • Trousers,Chips and all that.

  • Cheerie-o's ,chips and - Thats a real kick in the knickers!

  • Knobs and bottoms!

  • MY WORD! - YOU PIG!

  • And, "Lawl" is also another way of saying "LOL" except, you only see older people using it.

  • well i believe it does take around 2 mins of work just a while waiting for it to dry

  • lemme try that....

  • cool!

  • thats good but it the house looks gross lol

  • Genious?

    YES!

  • great vid i realy needed the help to found out how to make rust

  • THERE IS A MUCH MORE EASY WAY! just run the board under water then peel off the top layer, much beter than riping and sanding for hours.

  • hours? You mean seconds?

  • not hours, it miht take a minute at tops...

  • another good one

  • dude awsome, really helpfull. I was actually wondering how to do rust...thanks

  • i like the way you guys edit your videos. Makes the demonstration fast and entertaining.

  • iff u dont have scorched brown can you just you plain grey????

  • i mean faded black not like grey i think u know what i mean

  • OOOO i love u!!!

  • yay! thank you! =D finally some good (non expensive) terrain!

    i give this a 20/5 =D

  • Another way is to mix a bit of fiery orange and scorched brown, then stiple it onto a silver basecoat. great vids!

  • Would spraying the red at least not make it easier and faster?

  • If you had red spray paint on hand by all means use it. We didn't so this was the result.

  • cool

  • wow thats really fast and looks really mad.

  • at 1:22 are they straws?

  • yes

  • ok i just made that but i didnt to take the back part off should i or just leave it there
