  • This excerpt from "Overview of America" is one of the best videos produced by The John Birch Society.

  • Your views on anarchy are very negative and based on the assumption that people cant take care of themselves, and that without government we would become savages whos only motivation is to steal and kill.

You should acquaint yourself with "Spontaneous Order".

  • Whoever made this bullshit video is a fucking retard, and knows nothing about political philosophy. This is an incredibly narrow video, it simply demonizes everything but Reagan style conservatism, which is a fucking vile lie.

  • Dictatorship would be real nice, as long as I'm the dictator.

There is a problem however, one will be approached by sharks.

  • Madison wrote that all corporations should be disolved after fifty years so to prevent an oligarcical class. You know, what we have now. The US is now, sadly, an empire in decline. Within a year hyper-inflation will hit, and we will be worse off than Germany in the Weimar. We can take comfort that by not limiting greed and freedoms those to whom we gave will not have to do without as do we who gave them such freedoms to hoard wealth. We did it to ourselves.

  • Intelligent people aren't backing this up because its complete and utter propagandist bullshit. Anyone who believes this contrite shit coming from an unknown speaker on a 9 min youtube video should be sterilised. Read a book, look at some peer reviewed sources, and question what you're told.

Lets also try hold out on the reification of abstract concepts such as government and capitalism, these things are human constructs, they aren't physical beings.

  • Democracy, majority rule, mob rule, anarchy and lawlessness occurs when people are convinced that the existing laws are enforced in a discriminatory manner to protect the interest of the very wealthy few."wild west" was familiar with British common law. that the laws are legislated against the interest of the people. Isn't the "Fiat Money" in violation of the US constitution? And there are no shortages of lawyers.Generally, there are no courts of justice in this country.where's the sheriff now?

  • when it says of anarchy that "without law there can be no liberty" what's the reasoning?

just because greeks said it, does that make it true?

  • When men are free to forcefully take power, either through rhetoric, or through military might, such as militia leaders, than those men can impose their will without opposition. The will of a man will forcefully suppress the freedoms of his brethren.

  • this is a perverse view republics breed greed and there must be a balance between all forms of government COMMON SENSE democracy is the foothold of this nation and whoever made this vid should be ashamed of themselves especially

when the current prez boast about spreading democracy (one of the main reasons to in\vade iraq)this is shameless propaganda.

  • No, common sense and government are mutually exclusive. Politicians, by their very nature seek complete control and the consolidation of power, as do corporations, but corporations must compete in a treacherous system, namely capitalism; while the government's only check are the people and the supreme court.

  • At present the elite DO rule over the many and for their own benefit. However, the smell in the air is revolution yet again. People defend people in an ideal system. Anarchy is not about NO law, it is about one's own morals and ethics. When pondering this, do apply game theory. Hawk/Dove would work. Thanks.

  • well, invisible government.

Government doesn't turn up until you want it to. They serve you.

  • Government serves you alright. They serve your head on a Dixie plate and then laugh about it later.

  • You're right. Anarchy isn't about no law since each individual would have to make up his or her own laws. Then, when his laws conflict with hers- nothing but chaos will arise. While most people have similar morals and ethics, everyone does not. Who's to say his morals and ethics are more just than hers. See the problem with anarchy. A central government is ideal. If that government is broken, then either fix it or get another one.

  • Anarchy is not about chaos and each individual own law. It is pretty much basic laws such as do not murder, do not rape, and do not steal. The theif could be given another chance based on game theory using two tit for one tat, however, the theif would eventually run out of victims and would be left to him/herself.

  • A central government is not necessary. As you recognize what we have to be a broken system, what would you suggest for another one? Also, as we enter into global financial crisis, the people will be riled and this could cause global revolt which in turn would cause a gap. This better to have us rule ourselves in a manner we would want to be treated that to be dictated to on how we are to behave.

  • Who will deny that a world in which the wealthy are powerful is still a better world than one in which only the already powerful can acquire wealth?

  • Would you mind rephrasing so that I have a clearer understanding as to what you question/state?

  • Well it's perfectly clear, it's a quote actually; but essentially it's stating that though it may be true that in capitalistic societies the rich do have more power, its still better then socialism where individuals are given their fortunes and power by the state, or the governing authorities. Meaning if you aren't chosen by the authorities you are incapable of climbing the socioeconomic ladder.

  • Do we need AUTHORITY or are we capable human beings? I often wonder about our ability to care for one another. It is possible to function without a government rule. What do you think of equal power and equal responsibility to all people?

  • No, that's just a fantasy. Greed is an essential part of our being, it is one of the defining characteristics of humanity, and any attempt to wipe out greed would lead to a complete disaster, as was demonstrated all over Western Europe. Those who are more capable would demand their "fair share," while the less capable would see no reason to better themselves, their wouldnt be any incentive to do so. The disenfranchised would be easily manipulated by demagogues seeking to achieve total control.

  • One reaps what one sows. Is that correct? If one does not sow, one must do something productive or cease to be of their own making. Living cooperatively is a responsibility. All people are capable of SOMETHING. When you say that the less capable would see no reason to better themselves, do you mean they would lie there and die? If a each person watches the others back, there would be no problems. Granted, it is an ideal situation, but anything is possible.

  • "do you mean they would lie there and die?"

No, he would do just enough to survive, and then complain that he doesn't have enough.

    "but anything is possible"

The attempt to make Earth Heaven is what has made it hell. We are slaves to our human faculties, attempting to completely suppress and deny them is simply impossible. We must acknowledge them, deal with them, and do the best we can.

  • If he would do just enough to survive and complain about it, who would listen? What if everyone only did enough to survive? What happens when one seeks more than another? Competition? Is it necessary? Does competition create greed? Does greed create hell and slaves?

  • I don't completely buy it. If Democracy doesn't work, Then why do the 9 judges of the Supreme court permit 5 to 4 or other majority decisions become the law of the land? According to this piece, like jury's, every decision may by the body of justices should be unanimous otherwise "laissez-faire" decisions by the States should take precedence.

  • Take a look around in America today...

We have been left with only two choices for presidency. Democrat or Republican (Divide and Conquer)...Oh,and they place them for you.

Regardless, DEMOCRACY is not mentioned one time in the Constitution, Bill of Rights, heck even our National Anthem says "to the REPUBLIC for which it stands" not the Democracy...

I'm no expert, but with enough reasoning and common sense I can see that we are stering away from our priciples and values.

  • @xxoilersxx If you interested in more great information regarding the truth of what is going down in America (& I hope you do as time is getting short) The End of America - Naomi Wolf. From Freedom to Fascism - Aaron Russo. Check out what Ron Paul has to say he knows his history & constitution & is a very smart honest brave man I hope he gains presidency & that TPTB don't take him out as they did JFK, Marilyn Monroe, Martin Luther King, John Lennon, Michael Jackson (see The Industry) wow

  • This should be required viewing by every child in school.....z

  • This should be shown in every school and every American should watch this. I don't understand why intelligent people are not backing this up!

  • Yes, but real government is not as clear cut as this video purports. Near the end of this video, the speaker states that America has to choose between an oligarchy or a republic. A more reasonable conclusion would be America having to choose between an oligarchial republic or a democratic republic (i.e. a nation ruled by laws written by and agreed upon by the few or a nation ruled by laws written by the few but agreed upon by the majority).

  • a fixed body of law

overseen by accountable govt [able to be held to account for transgressions of the constituted law as enforced by the public service]

a sherif to protect and keep peace , and a judiciary to over see and make fair the affairs of the public

an accountant to keep the books, even the simplest govt soon becomes an ologarky

how to limit the powers of fair accounting over colluded olagarky

is to make the holding of the benifits of wealth as proof of treason

    who wants it?
