  • I can't believe you guys are gobbling this up. If you didn't know a kid had painted it you'd be calling it crap.

  • a mini fletcher from a.n.t. farm! :D

hes so adorable, and if i could paint like that.... hhhmmm i would like to see me paint like that XD

  • he´s genious !!!

  • Wow I'm glad a young child cab really express his talent!! :L

  • what i really love about his style of painting is that he doesn't hesitate his next move. he just paints it. and i think half of the brilliance of it is the title of the painting. "It Could Be Me." that pretty much captures the entire idea of abstract painting, it could be anything, interpreted differently by everyone.

  • He's such a big boy by picking his own paints. What a blessing children are, that's a fact. Godspeed!!...I'm an artist and I used to get my children to paint with me when they were little but now they don't do it, it's in there, somewhere, God willing it will come out when they are not all involved with teenage stuff.

  • Shove a clarinet in the kid's mouth and see if band works out a little better.

  • Priceless is right. As in, noone in their right mind would pay for it.

  • O I love him. I hope my daughter loves to paint just like him :)

  • A little kid can make abstract art like a grown person!!!!!!!

  • This actually demonstrates the absurdity of so-called "abstract art". Yes, the kid is enjoying himself. All children and, for that matter, all people should paint for fun and therapeutic release. But to call this genius, brilliant, amazing, or anything of the sort is simply insane and does a disservice to art and true artists who have spent years and countless hours developing skill and knowledge. This kid should work toward that as he grows instead of being told he's already there.

  • awesome......................great job,,,

  • A disaster. This color mess, for people don't understant abstract paintings create a confussion and disagree. His cute, and has some talent, thats all.

  • omg he is soo good!!! this gives me inspiration because whenver i paint, I am always so worried,, and here he is making a beautiful picture!

  • He's brilliant! I love the passion with which he paints, truly genius at work!

  • @utanja

He's awesome. He's has so much fun with everything he does. I'm bless to have him in my life.

  • cute!

whats the name of the song used in the intro btw? thanks :-)

  • cute!

whats the song used in the intro btw? thanks

  • @88Omina88 It's just sample music from garage band on an Apple. Thanks-

  • Bravo!

  • Whoever doesn't want to credit this painting with true and intellectual artistic decision has envy issues. The title is not offensive at all. The painting is priceless and abstract, more so because it was created by a genius of only 6(?). In fact, given his age, the painting shows the artist's expression in its purest abstract form, uninformed by external influences or impressions that come with age. Just intuitive colour inspiration. Its abstract. And its priceless.

  • Nice work Ian!

  • Now I'm even more depressed than I was before I watched this video and I was pretty sad. You get $30,000 for this painting? $30,000 really. I guess there is a lot of overhead and advertising costs? No I'm not jealous just because I can't sell a painting no matter how hard I try. $30,000; huh? Do you think that these will rise in value? Yeah, the title says priceless yet somehow you put a price of $30,000 on it. That poor child only gets box juice; you'd think he'd get fresh squeezed. Byesmiles.

  • @radioslashmusicmixer

Not to talk about the pressure they are putting on the boy.

  • too cute. i love it. the painting is pretty awesome, actually haha

  • Lol nice kid , nice painting..

If u are on problems... think: What would ian do?

    ¨¨I paint, I paint....... much:D¨¨

  • The work is amazing, yeah, but I can't help be be somewhat offended by the title of the video. Again, I'm not disrespecting the work, it's ascetically pleasing and was executed very well but I do wonder if this was a slight slander against abstract expressionists. Looking back to the intellectual origins of abstract expressionism tells us that the work reflects a mature understanding of color placement that expresses higher level concepts.

In short, nice work - offensive title - Adorable kid.

  • Thanks for watching and commenting. My guess is that you don't have kids of your own. You miss the fact that I would not ever consider selling this painting, made by my very own child. So to me, it is truly Priceless! Take care, and happy painting. Elliott-

  • whatever dude, lighten up!

  • @HaveYouSeenAndy I agree although I good video and good painting I can't shake the feeling the title was meant to be offensive.

  • A hundred years from now that painting will probably sell at Christie's for $40 million.

"Now on the block, one of the first paintings by the early 21st century master, Ian."

;) Mine will be moldering in some landfill.

  • I'd buy that painting.

  • Its really cute, Picasso at his age was able to do landscapes and realistic art, once I see him do that then I will think he is a genius, in the meantime, he is really cute.

  • Thanks so much for watching and commenting!!!!

Its all about the love of painting and having fun.!

  • @Juanartista Yes but when Picasso grew up, he desired to cast himself free from the burdens and achieve the childlike ease and freedom and simplicity in his work. This boy has what all adults seek, that emotional freedom just to have fun expressing himself. I know you need to learn the rules to break them, or do you really have to?

  • I love this, it is absoluetly adorable and he looks like he is enjoying himself so much. Remeber Picassos quote: "All children are artists. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up."

  • Just don't grow up?

  • I can't believe some of the comments regarding this video. Does it really serve a purpose, or make one feel that much better about their own artistic endeavors, to 'critique' the color choices & composition of something produced by a child at play? So sad!

I, for one, can see only the benefit of letting the lil' guy acquaint himself with real art supplies, while learning about the process --which, I'd reckon, eventually will include how to avoid overworking a piece-- at his own pace!

  • The music is sample music from the garage band software. Thanks for looking.

  • aw cute

lol whats the first and 2nd song called?

  • i like to paint abstract , i like to paint my feelings if im mad i paint a wild and dark painting, if im sad i paint with dark colors and its calm, but thats just my style of painting i like other styles i loce all paintings just some is not my style A.K.A just paint for fun do it because u love it.

  • how cute :)

  • As kids we now it all, instinctively. And then we have our whole live to get back there. I like the painting!!!!

  • fuk u

  • I like it.

  • Nothing wrong with this scenario. The boy is painting his childhood, something I as an adult artist cannot execute anymore. It is still art, even though the boy might not realize what he is painting or why, but at least he is having FUN! : ]

  • This is marvelous. Creativity at its best. None of the hesitance that an adult has, sweating over every brushstroke. It reminds me of what it was like as a kid, painting and drawing, simply to be happy. Art is priced according to what one was willing to pay for it in the past. Picasso used to do paintings in an hour or two just so he could get a lavish meal. This boy is painting for the fun of it which doesn't make it any less "ART' than an adult who paints just to make money.

  • @bourbonbigshot

    ...and pricing it to $30.000

  • @bourbonbigshot I paint for the fun of it and if someone is willing to pay me enough so that i can make a living of it, then i will praise that buyer because he slash she encourages me to work at something i so so much love! Any adult who paints JUST to make money would not never ever succeed as a painter in my opinion. He might get a buck or two but hell, inspiration over perspiration!

  • @himosonnisaatana And I concur with what you say. The cynical "Art World" of adults is far less preferable to me than seeing children paint, because it makes me want to paint as well. Most artists want to hold on to that creative spirit that adult life tries to bleed out of you. I fear I am analyzing this too much, I just love seeing kids enjoying themselves.

  • i'm not paying that !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  • $30,000?

    is that framed or unframed?

and does it include free delivery to perth, western australia?

  • that looks fun!!

  • If a painting is vibrant and catches my eye then it is creative art to me, regardless of a degree, age, landscapes or abstact.

  • we have similar painting styles :D

  • Hi Ian!!!

    Yoa are greath!!!!!

    greets all from Holland!!!

  • I could only view the last few seconds of this video. Not to insult the painter but it looks like something a little kid painted. It just lacks the composition, color scheme and feeling or impact of a mature painter.

  • a little kid did paint it.

  • It lacks composition? Most of the painting these days are odd and out of colour, in most show rooms and houses there are more likely painting like this than the classic portrait of a composed woman, though I like the classic, this style is abstract and modern and to be honest better than most painting and its by like a 4 yr old. Im also a young painter, 13 and I admir paintings like this I dont paint often, but this is sort of my way of painting, I think you should re consider your judgement.

  • 13years old?

probly poped out ur first pube

    go paint with that

  • You're a dick. Kid's putting his opinion out there and you're insulting him.

  • it seems spontaneous and free, but children of this age r actually not capable of these intentions because they r not aware of these possibilities. It was picasso who said that as a child he could paint like an adult, and it took him his whole adulthood to lear to paint like a child again. A child is an extreme copycat, u need a live of experience to overcome that, the proces of which is called 'art' This child has no choice, dont b fooled by outside appearences.

  • this is amazing simply because the child is using all his creativity and enthusiam into the work you dont need an art degree to produce a feeling or a mood and when that creativity is over the child gets bored and the painting is finished, most illustrators like myself practice many years to try and express ourselves this freely something i am yet to achieve

  • Thanks Ian, keep up the good work! Now to the person who is calling his work trash and not worth $20,000 consider this. What anyone does with their own hard earned or money given to them by our government is their business. You should not have to be of a certain age with the right degrees to be taken seriously. Ian is expressing himself and if you think his art is worthless then don't buy it or look at it but certainly don't trash him for it! Come on people let others live! Jeez

  • is this for sale?

  • i think children like ian here and marla olmstead can be so gifted with abstract art is the fact that children, especially creative children, are fearless. Fearless in the sense that they are not afraid of messing up or mixing paint or even afraid of the canvas itself like maybe older artists can be. I believe part of being talented is not fearing failure and obviously children will have less of that fear than adults. in short i love what ian and marla do now. i hope it stays that way for them

  • :) I can't even paint abstract's that well!!!

  • He owned that one! Sweet. Ian rules.

  • Super. thanks!

  • great work Ian!

  • I sense a great future for you Ian. You're a GREAT artist. Keep up the good work and stay close to your Dad. No one loves you more than he does and that is so obvious. I have enjoyed your videos so much..thanks!!!

  • Yeah this video just goes to show how people can rave about complete trash like the supposed 'art work' of marla olmstead - a kid who scrawls paint onto canvass and then its $20,000!! The morons who buy such stuff should really go to a therapist... remember the art world going ga-ga over the brilliant artist who was in fact, an elephant painting with its trunk?

  • wow..very good young man...great energy!

  • i quit painting.

  • This video has given me soooo much insparation!! You can learn so much from children...

We all have a genious inside of us!

You have to be pathetic to give this one a negative comment..

  • Thanks so much for commenting and watching.

  • Ian...you taught me a lesson!! Paint freely. I'm so entangled in what it looks like, what my friends will say, will it look good in the room...blah blah blah-it-ty blah... PAINT LIKE A CHILD!! That's what it's all about! Great Job IAN!! You are my new Hero! decortuscana123

  • and he does!!!

  • Was it Picasso who said "I wish i could paint like a child" or something to that effect? or who was that? uugh! i'm rusty on my history. If anyone knows please reply. Thank You.

P.S. who ever invented rules for an abstract painting, is a little uptight. To me abstract is all about FREEDOM, which seems to be becoming an endangered word more and more each day.

  • "It took me four years to paint like Raphael, but a lifetime to paint like a child." Pablo Picasso-

Thanks for commenting, and getting the point!

  • No problem. Thanks, that's been driving me crazy that i couldn't remember.

And the little guy is acually kind of inspiring. Freedom in it's truest form.

  • Beautiful. I love it! We should all take a lesson from kids, let go of our inhibitions and plop that paint where we want it!

    QUESTION THO!

What type of paint was used and where can i find some? I have some small tubes of acrylics and watercolors but i want to be able to drip and spread paint but still have good coverage.

THANK YOU FOR POSTING THIS! Inspired me to paint more!

  • He used acrylics. You can find paints just about anywhere nowadays. Walmart even has a paint section that would be good to start with for low cost. Good luck!

  • llf :P loved the end i paint i paint... much

    bye :P

i actually thought it was gonna look grt when he was painting it at first but he just threw too many horrible colours aall together in the same spot kinda ruined it :P

  • Yeah, I thought the same thing. But I really try not to limit what they paint.

  • Cute stuff obviously but for me that painting has terrible color balance it was actually looking very good at the beginning but there was no balance to it at all at the end. Does he actually enjoy painting or was this just a parody type of video?

  • Thanks for watching and commenting. I thought the same thing. But the little guy has to learn to when to stop on his own. He loves to paint, so I thought it would funny to parody my own videos and the $30,000 abstract painting girl videos as well. All in good fun.

  • Yeah I really doubt she actually painted those paintings I mean do you really think a 5 year old knows anything about color balance or the history of art or anything like that? And what unknown painter makes $30,000 on a painting? Look at the true great artist like my favorite painter currently Pollock he was broke as hell till they recognized him for the priceless works of art he was painting. I wish your son well and hope he continues to paint and get great at it.

  • I love this - it's so cute! I can not believe at the negative comment below -that is just down right rude!!!

I love the painting and what a cute video you made...Thanks it put a smile on my face.

  • well...i think from this vid i got some inspiration in creating some of my own painting since this art is of my interest, my brother is a graff artist, who knows maybe this adorable kid made me discover i have some artistic passion in my blood and family.lolas 4 tha spoilers, dont let them potatoes ruin the whole sack, j4j4..

  • 30,000$??? lol....:p

  • That is the cutest video! I think his painting is beautiful!

  • thats a pretty pathetic abstraction. theres no harmony or structure. there isn't even any decent gesture involved. I think people are wrong when they say that "my 5 year old can paint that.." (in reference to any number of great modern artists). this is proof, your kid CANNOT do it!!

  • Brad, thanks for commenting, sorry you missed the fun in it. This video was made to be a parody of my videos and to poke fun at the stories of the little girl in the U.S. that is selling $30,000 abstracts. But, I guess if you did have a knowledge of todays art scene you would have known that. Thanks again for watching.

  • i wonder that u replied in such a calm way on such a bad comment ncie vid yo

  • This proves that you don't need a brain to paint abstract... just the will.

  • yes ... and pation
