  • I lived in Rio from age 3 or 4 to age 13. Left 1970.

This stuff makes me want to cry. I didn't want to leave.

I don't recall seeing a capoeira exhibit. It was in the blood of the people. My U.S. conditioning was: sissies kick. My other conditioning is: this is some damn good stuff! The only real move I know as a non-fighting person is ...sweep the feet. Sounds like capoeira to me. None of this really matters. Imagine a world that didn't require you to know the best way to kill your neighbor.

  • @un42n8karma Imagine a world where the dance with razors on your feet was just a dance, and your throat was not in danger.

Really! There is no good reason why that imagination should be impossible! But AWW SHIT! Here we are.

  • Nice games!

  • any wannabe street fighter will get there ass kicked by a capoeira master.

  • For all those who are sceptical about capoeira and think it isn't a form of martial art rather than a dance, i want u to google this onto the youtube search engine and maybe it will make u see different about capoeira::: copy n paste ~~> Official Crazy 20 second Capoeira MMA Knock Out in HD Best Quality

Please have more respect as a martial artists. If there is one thing martial artist should come to appreciate in their sojourn is humbleness and respect. There are many high level capoeiristas who are excellent martial artist/fighters. Be more disciplined.....

  • I saw several people get KOed in seconds with Capoeira i Brazil. Why not insult one of these martial artists and find out yourself? (I'd like to see one of these ladies do it and trust me they could)

  • Capoeira is a dance, a martial art, ritual combat and music. If you used the martial arts concepts in it you could win a fight with capoeira. Mestre Bimba himself challenge many many fighters to proved his capoeira and promote his school back in the 1930s. He fought karatekas and various boxers and various others and never lost a match. He even created a training system that was used by the Brazilian military. Capoeira was also a weapon art. Demos dont show the whole story.

  • Another closet homosexual who has no other way to express his gayness but by pretending to be tough. First of all what the hell is Kyokushinaki? It sounds like something from a sushi restaurant. Secondly as for your black belt in this fabled art again so what? I have a gold belt in Pimp Slap Fu, does that make me an expert in all martial arts? IT makes me as qualified to talk about your martial art as you are to discuss this one. Before you ask, yes I looked up kyokushinkai, not impressed.

  • No; Capoeira is a style of martial art developed in Brazil by African slaves of the Portuguese. It was based on african dance, because the slaves were forbidden to practice any form of martial art. Like most martial arts, it's grown to have a culture and history behind it.

  • Man that sita is really good. I don't know about marrying her, but I am curious as to who she is.

    Axe,

    JW

  • AMAZING!!!! :)

  • i have been to the hospital, bacause of a meia lua de compasso to the ribs ouch.

And just this month i sent my Contra mestre to the hospital with a broken leg, i went too, so the could give me a stich on my shin.

last week i hit a martelo right in the face of my friend, imagine what i do to the ones i dont like ;)

Capoeira is real, its a fight, it did after all help the slaves out of enslavement!

  • you right! capoeira is wery powerfull and dangerous, but capoeira doesn't mean only fight but it's frienship and espression too. saudagi!

  • Broken legs, cracked ribs? Damn, your class must be a real bitch. What is your batizado like? No one leaves the roda until someone is unconscious? :-)

  • who's the girl? i want to marry her. :-D

  • Man, I know exactly what you're talking about. I train in Capoeira and I was playing this guy in my class. I did a regular armada, and caught him in the face. His face looked like it was going to explode when he got up, and he didn't come back to class after that.

  • LMAO!!!!!!

  • Yeah, during training someone tried to stop a mea lua de compaso I threw... with his head! 3 stitches !!! Split his brow wide open! Capoeira is supposed to be a hidden fight ! It's not intended for you to see K.O.'s but once a good kick is thrown you better duck, it will break your arm if you try to block it. Some capoeirista's can throw a mea lua de compaso so fast, it breaks the sound barrier and rippes a hole in spacetime :-)

    axé Pavão

  • haha

  • Ive been at Capoeira for a year, and am getting the hang of the mea lua. I do it sometimes with hateful intent and the force is amazing. I see the others who are higher than me throwing them like lightning. I just imagine, like u said if you dont duck you're fucked!

Bottom line, Capoeira was 4 freedom from slavery like Krav Maga was 4 survival from genocide. I think they are the two best martial arts. Im secretly happy that Capoeira is STILL underestimated. Yeah sure, we're only dancing :P

  • Well said

  • @Ify33 im doing capoeira for neary 3 months.and im happy to.I did tang soo do before which is taek kwon do and i think the training is shit compared to capoeira although was semi contact and not contact at all as capoeira.

  • @Ify33 it wwas made that way , to look like a dance right? havent seen much full contact capoeira

  • A mulher tem bom jogo

    Axe*

  • Great song! Every time I hear Mestre Canguru singing I shed a tear.

  • Chora capoeira, capoeira chora, chora capoeira mestre Bimba foi embora.

  • Brazil rules man.

  • that one lady has awesome balance.

  • THIS VID WAS RIPPED FROM ANOTHER WEB SITE

  • true true :) I take it, and I got palme heel'd in the groin from the guard position (grappling) after getting kicked in the ribs and getting tacken down from a jumping armada martelo I did (spin kick).

  • Guard position? So, there is grappling in Capoeira.. whenever I've seen clips it's full of backflips and shit, but nothing else. But then I guess that's what people want to see on the internet.

I'm frankly a little surprised at how shocked the fellow that posted this was about someone getting a black eye once. It is supposed to be a martial art, and I defy anyone to try to wrestle or anything (even without any strikes) for a week without waking up with pain and bruises all over.

  • Its not like people always videotape classes, and besides, Capoeira will differentiate from school to school depending on the instructor and the students. but yeah theres BJJ, takedowns and full contact hits. But its not shown alot because it would scare away newbies, especially the hot female ones! Go to a street Roda in Brasil though, you might see that more.

  • Yeah... we got to start censoring wrestling and BJJ somehow to get more of those hot female newbies. I'll be sure to check it out if I ever get the chance.
