hmmm i had to adjust my magpuls up like that as well im having a hell of a time getting rounds on paper with them , im considering just throwing them away
Can you please answer this question as soon as possible... I am going to but a smith and wesson m&p 15 tomorrow and I want to get an eotech to go with it.. which model eotech will I need? I like the look of this 511 but can I mount it directly to the picatinny rail? I won't have to buy some kind of mounting kit or anyhting will I? I'm hoping I can get one of these tomorrow.. I can't wait.
those magpul backup sights are shit. Just got rid of mine after using them for about a year now and replaced them with my trusty troy industries BU's.
Why would you ever need that many sets of sights? I can't help but to wonder that in a combat situation you'd probably have a bit of difficulty constantly flipping back and forth if you actually utilized them all.
well yeah I figured that, but the clicking noises it makes would be rather difficult to cover in a covert situation where you're trying to keep cover at close range. On top of that there's two different backup optics.
Call me old fashioned but I prefer a decent aperture style peep-sight or a scope with one eye open.
You can get a set of Yankee Hills for $110 on primary arms. I had a set of MBUSs on my ORC until i saw those. 90 for MBUSs or 110 for YHM? YMH for the win!
This is what I wanted to see. I have the MBUS sights currently, and they work well. As for the "time" it takes to flip them up, they are considered "backup sites" to be used if/when your primary (eotech/aim point/other) dies for what ever reason. Also as a side note, they are quicker to deploy than most BUIS sites.
When I shoot tactical 3 gun, they are easily in reach of my hands without moving them for quick deployment in the event I forgot to flip them up.
One word "Batteries", ok two words "Electronics" And I dont care if it is made in the USA, I would bet ny AR at least 90% of the electronic parts, (resitors etc) are made in the orient. Lol Just sayin...
Have you checked the prices of the "Good" sights??? YHM or the like. Most of us aren't rich or have wealthy relatives. I personally have three kids, a mortgage and a truck note, so the fact they are inexpensive suits me fine. They work, and they are rugged. we are talking about the real shit and not PTS made in china crap...
Has alot more to do that just the sights and scope, you need the right height rails and maybe a riser, I am not familiar with the eotec mount system. I cant afford one, I end up buying other weapons instead. I guess I need to pick a rifle and deck it out. I am running the mbus now.
this is the best fukin youtube demo eer, i just got a smith wesson optic ready 16" flat top and am looking to get this exact setup. how did it work out for you josh?
also whats the diff between the eotech 52.65 or the 511?
i like how this video shows how the eotech is paralax free! (i think thats the term) no matter how the reticule seems to move the point of aim stays the same. awesome!
Thanks for the video, good to see the sight picture with the EOTech and Magpuls. I'm gonna get the Magpuls first but it's good to know the sight picture is great.
Nope, rear mbus will be fine! The gas block is the only large area subjected to EXTREME quantities of heat. You get heat coming off the barrel, and the heat of the gas system. I've got a permanent burn scar on my arm after I engaged 4 targets with multiple shots, and then accidentally rested my arm against the barrel.
Yeah it will melt. Even Magpul says it will! If you do alot of rapid fire drills or this is your work rifle, you might want to get rails to mount the front MBUIS.
I have the same set up in my RRA ar15. I was afraid to buy the holo sight because of the bulkiness of the front magpul sight. Now i see its not going to be in the way.
I paid 950 + tax for my S&W OR - got burned. A few months later another dealer had these on sale for 750 + tax with 5 FREE magpul mags..I'm not kidding. Story of my life...
Is the eotech riding on the stock mount or a riser? Had to put a riser on my s&w MP 15 optics ready. Wish I had the magpuls also but my scope is too long for the rear one. Any suggestions?
Why does your front MBUS have a different sight than mine?
CarissimiRBeast 1 month ago
@joshua0288. Mounting a plastic front sight on the front gas block could melt it. That gas block gets really hot in rapid fire.

Is your gas block rail level with the other rails because some bas block rails are smaller and it might throw off the sights.

Uhhh. MBUS will melt, if attached to a gasblock rail. Just a heads up.

I disagree. I have them on my Stag model 3. Been running them for a month. NO MELTING AT ALL
VideoPioneersInc 2 years ago
@VideoPioneersInc
Call Magpul.
They'll tell you not to do it.
If you get that gas-block hot (fire 30 rds in rapid succession), the MBUS WILL melt and lose zero. They warned everybody about this.

@office888 what about if you only have a rear mbus? thats all ill need, do you think it would have problems?

Melts just on gas piston rifles, or both piston and DI? just wondering (mine is DI)
FatTarget 2 years ago
@FatTarget
Piston too. Gas-block still has hot, high pressure gas flowing into it.

@TheMagnusEffect yup, Magpul says not to mount on the gas block. get a troy metal sight
