  • Steve Godd

  • Gadd damn

  • So smooth.

  • what do I have to say.. awesome !

  • awesome

  • play very nice...special feeling and musicality "bomb full" tanks for the break ...un saludo !!

  • Im a guitar player not a drummer,I can never get enuff of watching Gadd(GOD) pla7y...simple be so solid,a true world class pro.

  • World class. A real pleasure to watch this clip, thanks for posting it.

  • One of the most subtle drummers ever. If not THE. amazing.

  • if i had three whishes, it would be Dave Weckls flashiness, Dennis Chambers creativity and Gadds finesse

  • mad pocket

  • I like how he uses his stick to dampen the cymbal a little durind the beat and everything is blended well, plus the timeing is perfect.

  • @winnlamp

No she can't. And neither can you.

  • @winnlamp you are the reason why retards shouldn't have computers! you're a fuck tard!

  • @winnlamp get an education about who this guy is and who he has recorded with....then maybe some brain cells will start firing and you'll see just why he is as regarded as he is.

  • most pocket drummer ever. so sweet.

  • those stick shadows are fucking with me

  • those tom fills.....soooo Gadd! straight from his soul

  • travis barker disliked this video once

  • He got ugly though, Jesus

  • Xavier is right. Shuffles look easy, but are actually quite difficult. It's not just the drummer who must maintain the walking feel though!

  • Don't knock a shuffle as being simple. I've worked with several drummers who can't hold it for an extended period, if they can play it at all. Eventually, they will just end up playing a straight rock beat.

  • Steve Gadd is GOD.

  • Barker is not even a musician...he's just an idiot breaking cymbals

  • ...

    I fucking quit.

  • Barker.

    Period.

  • @JoeJacari not a chance Joe.

  • Listen to him with Chick Corea on the Leprchaun album and then judge his drumming. I dont know of anyone who could have played more tastful or innovative. Keep in mind this was around 1977 when disco was going on.

That makes this even more astounding. The man is a legend, listen and learn and keep you mouths shut and you just might get better too.

  • his snare has a cold

  • Gadd's the man all the old drummers are Steve Smith is one of my Fav's

  • Gadd doesn't really explain his stuff very well and seems not that comfortable with words but man can he play. This shuffle is beautiful. Fortunately a lot of his grooves and solos have been accurately transcribed and much of it is pretty complex, e.g. Aja. But just getting the right notes is not enough to sound like Gadd. It's all in the feel and expression.

  • the sad fact is that very few people can understand gadds music

  • @mateivornicu ... that is totally innacurate ... the fact is , millions and millions and millions of people have enjoyed Steve Gadd`s drumming for the last 30 years or so ... how many copies of Late in the Evening were sold .... Chuck E`s in love ? ..... and then you have the millions of drummers who worship the very ground he walks on .... your comment is completely innacurate .

  • @sweetfly66 if i show this to 10 people i bet at least 7 will say that this is repetitive and boring...

  • @mateivornicu .... your 12 year old sister doesnt count ..... sarcasm aside , your original statement was " very few people can understand Gadd`s music " .... you didnt say " this video " ... I actually agree this video is sort of boring , especially compared to the other Gadd stuff you can find online . But entertainment was not the goal of this video , I am pretty sure this is from an instructional video ... in other words " how to play a simple shuffle " .

  • @sweetfly66 unfortunately i dont have a sister... on the other side, you are right, but what i really want to say is that nowadays people dont listen to this stuff anymore.. not everyone can see the magic behind this

  • @mateivornicu .. I dont know man ... I have friends in real life who grew up listening to metal and thanks to YouTube they have totally opened their minds to cats like Steve Gadd ...even cats like Art Blakey and Philly Joe Jones ... Justin Beiber , and maybe even the infamous Travis Barker are going to get more views than any Gadd video but I really think YouTube has increased the visitbility and popularity of Steve Gadd and other`s like him .

  • @sweetfly66 Hah, I'd like to see you try and play this "simple shuffle" with the same feel and groove as Steve Gadd. This video doesn't have a "look how many things I can hit in less than a split second!" thing, but it is still brilliant.

  • @ZonderZout .... I think you replied to the wrong guy ... I completely understand how brilliant this is ...or maybe you took the phrase " simple shuffle " in the wrong way .... the truth is , it is a simple shuffle .... its not even close to the complexity of the purdie or porcaro shuffle .... but simplicity does not mean stupid , or bad or anything negative ... in fact , in the right hands , like Gadd`s hands ..it means genius

  • @sweetfly66 Actually I was being slightly sarcastic on the "simple shuffle" thing, but I didn't mean to flame you. In fact, I couldn't agree more :)

  • @sweetfly66

    It’s simple; It ain’t ez.

  • arguing about which drummer is "the best" haha how does that work.... pathetic. just listen, enjoy and learn... or dont enjoy and go elsewhere.

  • master!!

  • Niiiiiiiiiiiiice!!!!!!!!

  • Steve Gadd has been consistently one of the most sought after session and gigging drummers in history. The consumate pro. If I could pick one drummer on this earth to teach me the art of drumming, it's this guy.

  • Best Drummers Ever: Jeff Porcaro, Ian Paice, Neil Peart, Steve Gadd, Gene Kruppa

  • @getreadytowiggle1991 Neil Peart is nowhere near Gadd's level, you included him but left out Buddy Rich.. what?

  • @Aardvarked88 I'm sorry

  • If you are going to criticise someone like Steve Gadd, make sure it is a video response and you are sitting behind a drum set letting the sticks do the talking.

  • he is just plain awesome

  • @idektron i agree

  • @zeekdavis21 good man 'gladd' you can see it too !

  • @idektron well anyone can see it look at him he looks like a raisin with no talent

  • @zeekdavis21

It is usually the "average at best/ to slightly below average drummers" that do most of the criticizing of other drummers, especially drummers better than them selves . Why is that do you think? If your so hot, then why don't you post a video of your self tearing it up!

  • @hwk1955 These guys likely don't even play drums and are immature people who judge talent based on how many tattoos you have and how many hats you can wear at varies angles relative to your forehead. They probably think Travis Barker is the best drummer in the world, or something.

  • @metalmike83 im pretty sure travis barker is better than this dinosaur

  • @TAMAvsDW you obviously dont know anything about music

  • @TAMAvsDW I like Travis Barker. Buuuuut if you look up the video "King Of Drummers" you won't be skeptical of Steve Gadd at all. He'll be the 3rd one playing

  • @blawson48 travis barker sucks balls

  • @TAMAvsDW Im pretty sure your a dick.

  • @TAMAvsDW This is what drummers who play on shitty first-act kits and can't play sixteenth notes to save their lives actually believe.

  • @TAMAvsDW I'm pretty sure you're an idiot.

  • @metalmike83 i really really appreciate you.

  • @metalmike83 LMAO!!!! @ Travis Barker... Travis is good, but YOU get it.

  • @metalmike83 Travis is not a bad drummer , I bet he can groove , not like Steve of course

  • @novola1972 Travis is a horrid drummer compeltely undeserving of the fame he receives. He is the kurt kobain of the drum world.

  • @italia10588 Kurt Cobain didn't made technical music cuz it fits with grunge and punk music. Try to put Jimi Hendrix's skills on punk music. It becomes so ugly. Barker is a good drummer for punk music cause it doesn't need many drum skills. Anyway Steve Gadd is a fuckin great drummer.

  • @metalmike83 Also ..............They(TROLLS) Cant play drums for shit , or get anything right in their lives ,they look back and see nothing but missed and or blown opportunitties ...Therefore downgrading anothers talent to make themselves feel good for once ........= Total losers !!!!!

  • @metalmike83 ITS BUDDY RICH then comes my fav darren KING!!

    .

  • @zeekdavis21 - nice comment moron...

  • @idektron eh...awe never mind. It would take too long to explain and you're just too ignorant.

  • @idektron -anyone who plays the drums and cannot see or hear the beauty of this is STILL a drummer and not yet a musician...

  • @doctorgrewv ... how profound. Anyone who considers this dried up old raisin's output as beauty is STILL not yet a worthy human.

  • @idektron I hope you're trolling for attention and not actually that retarded.

  • @Aardvarked88 sadly I am actually a retard & am now deeply offended.

  • @idektron Your trolling would be more successful if it wasn't so entirely contrived and cliched, wannabe /b/ tards are so dire.

  • @Aardvarked88 Why have you just started randomly attacking people that have commented on this video?

  • @getreadytowiggle1991 Did you read who I was replying to? And please don't tell me you're trying to say I was attacking you by replying to your comment.

  • hehe I'll also rate 5 then it will count as 10 stars! =)

  • why can't I rate it 7 stars???

    it deserves it

  • Man, you gotta love steve!!!!

  • amazing.

  • no doubt about it, he is the best!
