While I agree that taekwondo isn't very effective in MMA and might not be very practical on the street (not to say it CAN'T) but as a sport, I give major respect to taekwondo and taekwondo practitioners. Anyone would have to agree that this sport takes MAJOR skill and athleticism, and is probably the most technical fighting style known to man; I couldn't even imagine knocking someone out with a flying hook kick, much less doing the actual kick itself.

@mansondevil33 exactly. its a sport. in terms of mma or a street fight, the kicks themselves would typically be ineffective, but the way in which you learn to move, feint, etc. can be very effective in mma or a street fight, e.g. Anderson Silva, the man himself( A black belt in taekwondo) So to all those who say taekwondo is useless, lame, etc. Apparently it's good enough for the best mma pound for pound fighter in the universe.

@montyburns12345 in my classes we had to use a greater variety of punches and kicks so you had to have your hands up, in a real martial arts fight without pads youll most likely want to guard yourself. you dont have to be one of these guys to be a great fighter these guys are just sparing watch the ufc if you want to see a real martial arts fight, but i do believe that my fathers shodagon teacher could beat any of them without using kicks (that old man was the real deal).

@HappyTriggerXD This is Taekwondo by the rules of the WTF (World Taekwondo Federation), the only techniques allowed are kicks (using an area of the foot below the ankle) and punches (using the closed fist), punches to the head are not allowed by the WTF. Since 2009 a kick or punch to the opponent's "hogu" scores 1 point, if a kick to the opponent's "hogu" is a spinning kick an additional point is awarded, a kick to the head scores 3 points, to be continued...
