  • haha my students didnt have any problem interacting with IMAGINARY objects when i forgot to prepare my props or they were too big to bring to class, like imaginary cups, cars, living rooms, etc. i remember one day i said, "ok group, homework..." and a voice interrupted me:(in english) "imaginary homework, teacher?" and everyone laughed. they went home without any homework that day.

  • I don't think TPRS is basically interactive theater. If I go to see a play where the actors speak in Mandarin, it won't be much entertaining to me because I won't understand anything. In TPRS is the teacher's job to speak in a way that is comprehensible to everybody in the classroom. That's how a second language is basically acquired: by geting comprehensible input ( input = hearing or reading).

  • summit ridge middle school in colordado.

i had Slavic as my first french teacher in 8th grade.

in his class you learn a ton more than any other way to teach a foreign language, we learned a ton of french and not just how to write it like most classes, but how to communicate with the speech we knew.

    Slavic if your reading this,

you should try to get in touch with me and Dillon

  • Thanks for the info, Mr. Tommy! Tell your French teacher to post more videos -- even if he doesn't add translation subtitles! I would just like to observe him more, since the way he teaches is so effective.

  • unfortunately, he moved and he is now teaching at Denver East High School

  • thank you! A great demo of TPRS! And very entertaining too.

  • Hey, dude -- I am going to be doing student teaching (and maybe working???) at a school that does TPRS. I took Blaine Ray's conference, and I really like it.

Would you be able to film and upload more videos here? You've obviously got it down, and I would just like to observe more of it.

So, if you decide to post more videos, know that it would help at least ONE person at here! Moi !!

  • In what school was this filmed? Or what school district?

What calm, respectful....SEVENTH graders! How does this work with a more rambunctious classroom?

  • I too would like to know the answer to this question.

  • Seventh graders act like adults if you keep them entertained. TPRS is basically interactive theater. No problem.
