ahthewall i agree with you not many participated. I was at orchard rd....pretty disappointing actually. sadly not a lot of people care about climate change. I asked one of my colleagues at work.. he said... it's pointless. So there are lot of people out there that are like him. I did my part for the earth hour :)
Yup, even over on my side in Jurong, I only has a handful of household participating... i think there isn't enough awareness especially in the neighbourhood....
Goes to show how ignorant people are about climate change.

The lights are mostly from emergency exits or routes for example the staircases, etc.

I suggest that the following years of Earth Hour ahead, they could simply charge more during the Earth Hour.
Meaning, during 8.30pm to 9.30pm, the PUB will charge you more if you use excessive electricity during the Earth Hour.

I know what you mean for that one hour I was looking out my window saw only about 3 households offing their lights it was disappointing.
