HAHAHAHAHAHAHA The end... just the end. That was just PAINFUL xD Why? xD Why? I feel you'Re pain too, I did this mess once too xD (and never again.) And you know what, I think the game bugged too there xD
The never-ending Bonus Game o' Death is a random glitch that sometimes appear in hacks. For instance, it occurs with about a 50% probability if you put the character appearance out of view from the first screen of a level.
Ahahaha, level 0? Looks like the hacker forgot to actually link that exit to anything, but how did it change after redoing it? If I recall, any changes made to a level in LM wouldn't take effect until a new game was started, so...weird.
WOW! I've been watching his original playthrough of this hack alongside this playthrough, since I never saw first one, and there is a HUGE difference in Raocow's attitude towards this level in the original playthrough. He actually said, while laughing happily, "This is the awesomest level ever!" during this segment, when he got to the giant spikes. He was ENJOYING this whole stage! Seriously! Go to the "everything" area of his website and check out Valley Fortress, under Super Challenge World!
He also figured out the first part of his video much faster, without even thinking about podobo jumping except for at the very last one when the floor got too low. Oh, and strangely enough, he didn't get the bonus room glitch either, despite doing the same thing he did first in this video...
Yeah, I don't think raocow likes save stating levels anymore. I watched one of his old videos where he played a level from anonomyousbloodlust's hack I think. He actually played it for quite a while, I don't know how long since most of it was in chipmunk mode warp 10. I'm sure if he did that hack again he'd turn green and start throwing babies at people's faces thus donning the return of.. RAEGCOW! :]
Yea... I understand. I just thought it was an interesting change, that maybe others would like to check out. I mean, since I haven't really watched many of your videos from before YouTube, I figured that there were a lot of other people that were probably the same, and might like to check them out too, if they haven't already. :D ..but yea, I agree, it's surprising how things change so much when your views and preferences change over time!
What was up with the ending? Did the bonus game glitch itself in when it wasn't supposed to? Or did you do something different the second pass in the door to get Reznor?
The boss door was most likely on directly on the screen exit between to screens, so one half of the door brings you into whatever screen exit is there, and the other half takes you to the screen exit for the other side.
Im guessing the thing with the door is cuz the first time you entered on the left side, which may be considered a "seperate" door from the right side of the door
I think any sort of transition that isn't set up automatically goes to the bonus room. So either the ROM author fucked up, or he's being a malicious son of a bitch and punishing people for choosing the wrong side of a door to enter.
Chipmunking is raocows censoring, I know because a little chipmunk told me so. His little virgin ears were deafened. Please be more considerate of nearby chipmunks as you may be herd. MY chipmunks do not need to learn that type of french! They get enough of that from the schools specialy their Bus Aid. Now in order to squelch the innapropriate use of chipmunk french im now forced to unleash my dog.... See mr cow? Chipmunks were harmed in the making of this video.
Have you seen some of his older videos from google? Check out the "Everything Raocow" section of his site for links. I've actually heard him swear quite a few times "casually" in some of his videos from two years back...
Not entirely sure, but I think it was released long before SMWCentral started with their quality control standards, and it's probably considered a "classic", even though it's questionable by today's standards. It's the same sort of thing that keeps SDW: tLC from being removed; least, I think it is (Demo World, like it or not, has more than enough potential "stuck forever" spots that it could well not be accepted at SMWC if it were released today. Still a good hack, though, IMO)
I don't really agree with SMWCentral's policies. They are WAY too restrictive with their rules; if 99% percent of the hack is a masterpiece but it has one "flaw" then it gets rejected. Why make such a big deal? They're just ROMhacks of ONE game; it's not like they're the only things out there you can play.
The actual game market doesn't do this. There are several games that are so excellent the good overcomes a couple questionable things.
At least have an "open" list of hacks where people are not bound by such rules (if they don't already). So the accepted hacks can be in "SMWCentral picks" and all the others can be organized into subfolders of this open list.
So personally, despite the somewhat good intentions they have, I still think it's kind of tyrannical. There's more to hacks than what conforms to the "normal SMW" standard. Hacks like Brutal Mario and Kaizo are famous for a different reason and have a different kind of appeal. But if SMWCentral pretends they don't even exist, then you're left with a bunch of "same" hacks, and even if they're good individually, it really gets mundane. Some hacks can still be fun even if they're less than perfect.
Oh, and don't say anything about "Three fun levels" being removed two years late after B.B. Link started his righteous crusade. From what I heard, that hack sucked by the standards of its day, and thus should've been removed, even if it seemed like its removal was violating the ex post facto clause of the Constitution.
You don't have to be psychic to figure out when the floor's going to rise - you're probably supposed to let it sink some, then jump just as the floor sinks below survivable level to hit the switch and get it rising again, and hit the ground running. You'd probably have gotten that if you hadn't gone off on the odd Podoboo-hopping tangent initially, but I dunno how that timing works out with the run.
I think I know why the door went to a bonus game, I've seen other hacks go to the wrong room when a switch or a P switch is set to active/on. Just wait for it to turn off again.
But nice video, and a clever, albeit infuriating gimmick in that fortress level.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA The end... just the end. That was just PAINFUL xD Why? xD Why? I feel you'Re pain too, I did this mess once too xD (and never again.) And you know what, I think the game bugged too there xD

My outlook on hacks have changed, and I think that, now that I have played the cream of the crop, there some flaws I just can't overlook.
Also it's CRAZY how your outlook on these things change when you're trying to restrict your tool usage!
Back then I was looking for a challenge, now I'm looking for a fun game. Things change!
