  • They are killer whales

    not hugging whales..

    not kissing whales..

    KILLER WHALES!

  • if i was the boss i would try again only to put the most anyonying worker in the tank

  • that's why they're called "KILLER" whales

  • shamefull everyone stayed aloof i would´ve harm the whale with a knife or so so she stops nobody cared for the life of that woman, only to keep the whale, everyine watchung the show i rewally hate u sometimes people no God no nothnig u dont move a finger for someone dying

  • @SingAlexandra People are causing more harm to animal than animal to man

  • @SingAlexandra In reality what could the audience have done? You're telling me you'd get in there brandishing a knife you just happened to have in your pocket whilst at a family resort and try to do something whilst probably getting yourself killed in the process? GTFO

  • i'm sorry but i'm so tired of people blaiming tilcum becuase they have him in tank the size of my neghbore hood pool in jacksonville fl. called the egrestain center

it was on the news that they kept him seprated and did not let him out except for when it was time to splash everyone

  • THESE ANIMALS SHOULD NOT BE KEPT IN TINY TANKS......would you adopt a tiger to live in your home and not expect its natural instints to come out ? then dont do it with these whales.....'KILLER-WHALES...geddit ?

  • maybe the toy was the same color as there jacket that the trainer was wearing.. making it look like the trainer was the toy? maybe... well never know

  • we all know how this could of been avoided

shame we feel the need to be greedy because of money.. and forget how we'd feel if we were kept in a cage for the amusement of others ..all sentient beings are very sensitive to such things, and should be treated exactly how we'd like to be treated ourselves, its really that simple

  • it is a wild animal !

  • Did the women interviewed see the attack? Just said she was at the park. Sloppy reporting.

  • This is a cover-up. The whale DID NOT GRAB HER BY THE HAIR!

By MIKE SCHNEIDER, Associated Press Writer Mike Schneider, Associated Press

ORLANDO, Fla. A SeaWorld killer whale snatched a trainer from a poolside platform Wednesday in its jaws and thrashed the woman around underwater, killing her in front of a horrified audience. It marked the third time the animal had been involved in a human death.

  • Distraught audience members were hustled out of the stadium immediately, and the park was closed.

Brancheau was rubbing Tilikum after a noontime show when the 12,000-pound whale grabbed her and pulled her in, said Chuck Tompkins, head of animal training at all SeaWorld parks. It was not clear if she drowned or died from the thrashing.

  • Because of his size and the previous deaths, trainers were not supposed to get into the water with Tilikum, and only about a dozen of the park's 29 trainers worked with him. Brancheau had more experience with the 30-year-old whale than most.

A retired couple from Michigan told The Associated Press that they were among some stragglers in the audience who had stayed to watch the animals and trainers.

  • Eldon Skaggs, 72, said Brancheau's interaction with the whale appeared leisurely and informal at first. But then the whale "pulled her under and started swimming around with her," he said.

Skaggs said an alarm sounded and staff rushed the audience out of the stadium as workers scrambled around with nets.

  • The couple left and didn't find out until later that the trainer had died.

"We were just a little bit stunned," said Skaggs' wife, Sue Nichols, 67.

Another audience member, Victoria Biniak, told WKMG-TV the whale "took off really fast in the tank, and then he came back, shot up in the air, grabbed the trainer by the waist and started thrashing around, and one of her shoes flew off."

  • my solution is to put fedor in there.

  • what a dumb crakkker ..deserved it ...lolollll

  • hey bud here is what the animal was thinking...horderve

  • people think they can ride a fuckin Whale .....

    freaking crazy stupid people

  • its a big ass fcking whale what the fck do u expect u fcking rah tards its not a fcking toy FCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!! serioulsy wild animals regardless of how long u have had them and how experienced u think u r will fcking kill u FCK!!!!!!!!

  • stir crazy

  • i think the whale was thinking that its board out of its skull.. WHALE TIME! @ 0:32

  • An Orca is not a whale, it's a dolphin. That being said. Dolphins are very intelligent animals, they say that they may be even smarter than chimps. There is just no way in hell that being put in a small space to swim around in circles for the rest of your life won't drive you to the brink.

The way we treat them is unforgivable. My heart goes out to the trainer's family, and my heart goes out to this tormented animal.

  • The ORCA should be wild and free. But its too late for this one, its not wild and free. It's a danger now and has been for a while. Captive Orca's can't be release into the wild after such a long time in captivity. it can't be saved or given quality of life, Seaworld should put this animal down.

Seaworld will keep it alive but not out of a love for the animal but to make money off it.

  • They can't that whale is worth well over $2.5million US they won't put it down, they'll sell it to a meat plant and they'll kill it for the meat...

...that won't surprise me, Sea World already funds the dolphin killings in Tiji Japan each year where thousands of dolphins are killed for their mercury laced meat for sale, and the dolphins that aren't killed are captured and put in Sea World parks around the world...

  • venturafor2012, People eating Orca? The Dolphins killed in Japan are not an endangered species and it's no different than killing other wild mammals. If people have a problem with that hunt they should with all mammals hunts (as some do). The reason people have a problem with hunting bottlenose dolphins and not other mammals such as wild pigs is that we have an irrational emotional attachment. If you're against hunting dolphins but not against hunting other mammals- its very hypocritical.

  • in Japan they eat all kinds of whale except sperm whales, the use sperm whale oils for machinery....

Your right there is no law preventing the killing of dolphins, but the dolphins that they eat has a high amount of toxic mercury in them.... it's unsafe to eat and they are feeding dolphin to kids in schools...

  • I disagree with all killing of wild animals for whatever reason...

...but I do eat stakes, fish, pork chops, etc... because they the animals that are killed for those foods are raised just for that reason...

  • venturafor2012 - well your consistant, and I respect that. But i'm pro hunting as long as it's not endangered and sustaniable, i feel these animals have far higher quality of life than farmed and therefor better for both person and animal -un controled toxins r a worry though. I hope that people will respect Japan's right to harvest non-endangered species. The pro farmed or pro vegan is fine but i wonder when its one morals being imposed on another disguised as conservation.

  • @venturafor2012

    OHMYGOD, I'm the same way.

People always called me hypocrite for thinking that way, but it's true.

    We're now bestfriends. (;

  • @venturafor2012 - but your animals "raised for that reason" are treated badly in comparison to wild animals. You support a lower quality of life for animals by eating raised animals. I support a higher quality of life for animals by eating sustainably harvested hunted animals.

So although you cater for a trendy popularist movement, I have the moral high ground

  • I can't blame the whale -- that whale is a slave, he or she was forced out of the wild into a tank and is forced to do tricks, that's slavery...

...IF the whale did attack it's trainer, I couldn't blame it, you probably would have done the same thing if you were the whale... Don't get me wrong, I feel sorry for the family and friends of the trainer who died, but that whale should have been in the wild same as all of the whales and dolphins...

  • .." The same whale was involved in the deaths of two other people..." ARE YOU SERIOUS ? This whale already killed two other people, and they're still forcing it to do tricks, playing with it, "training it" ..

I would not be in the same pool with a killer whale, that has killed humans in the past ( I wouldnt be in the same pool with a killer whale, period..)..No thank you ..You cant pay me enough to get in there.

  • she is another steve irwin..... oh dear....

  • WOOT! the whale wins =)

  • They should make a movie of it

  • She loved the whale? How can you love something that you have no idea what it's thinking? I guess dumb people can project whatever imaginary ideas they want about how much the killer whale loves them back, LOL!!

  • This is really shocking, but at the same time it teaches nature takes its own course to convey a message.

Really feel sorry for he trainer ,my heartfelt sympathy to the family and friends who are left behind to bear this loss.

    lavina

  • It will not be islated, BECAUSE IT LIKES PEOPLE...

signed: Anheuser Bush - the owner of the Park.

"Why would we get rid of this now major many maker, as thousands more are guaranteed to come to see WHO'S NEXT"

  • Try not to expect that if an animal is tamed it will not hurt you..except if you really take care o it as a family member...just like christian the lion

  • They're right. It's not that bad. I think they should give the whale a 4th chance....

  • i'm pretty sure they were kidding, lol.

  • ok,, well I can see accidents happening once, but not three times. That's all I'm going say everything else explains itself.. u can't tame a wild animal.

  • Once an animal gets a taste for human blood it needs to be killed point blank period.

  • This wild animal doesn't have a taste for human blood, it just drowns them. The problem is training wild animals to do tricks for entertainment and not respecting them as wild animals.

  • oh as far as the idiot woman in the video saying it was an accident no it was not, an accident is the whale throwing the person up in the air and the person hitting the platform instead of the water, the whale attacked and killed

  • of of course they will continue working with the whale, it has only killed 3 people but hey so what if people loose there lives as long as seaworld is able to make money off it

  • exactly

  • lol once again maney makes the decision easy for americans. i wonder what this whales human tally will be in the end?. 5? 6?. go whale

  • I feel bad for all the whales that were ever taken from the wild and put into seaworld.... some animals may tolerate it or even enjoy it but this one obviously does not. Orcas (aka killer whales) are highly intelligent creatures and they have feelings, but obviously they have no way of clearly communicating this to us. That's probably why this orca resorted to violence, because he knew it would get the message across. My heart goes out to the trainer AND the orca.

  • He will make even more money for sea world now !!! Roll up Roll up come and see the KILLER Killer Whale !!

Money maker !!! they call it research....yeah right !!!

  • Killer whale kills something!!! I'm in shock!!!

  • They need to release, or destroy this orca. "Telly" has been involved in 3 human deaths now, obviously the whale has no regard for human life and considering his size and strength, that makes him extremely dangerous. Release him close to where he was born and let nature take it's course. If need be, they could remain on station with food for him until he get in the swing of things. How long could that take...a day or two...a week? Orcas are alpha predators, they eat everything, he'll do fine.

  • wild animals leave them WILD!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • What is so fucking special about this whale ? It has killed 3 people put the fucking thing down or release it to fend for it self.

  • Time to put this animal down

  • If it was a Pit Bull it would be dead by now

  • you got to be kidding me scarfie20, they took this huge creature to a huge circle from its original habitat. If that was me, i would want to eat someone. But, it seemed agitated, maybe due to the same reason from all the people etc.

  • It has proven it can't be trusted . Kill it or release it but never give it a chance to kill again.

  • RebenDigita1- Really "If it was you would get someone" maybe you should grow up emotinally and think about the difference between a cause of a event and the solution to a event. When you realise the difference u should read my comment again -asshole
