SoE is putting in about 1/10th the Resource & Development into EQ2 it use to. Most of the new game content is all Station Cash & LoN items that you purchase with real cash. – If SoE brings back Avatars (Instanced versions), lots Mythicals, crazy non cookie cutter items, stops & undoes a lot of stupid nerfs, adds lots of creativity & appealing looking (easy to hard) raids this game might be saved.

It’s amazing what they are doing with new games like SWTOR has more continent space and better appearance than EQ2 bloated graphics. I still think WoW has the easiest fun factor if you’re looking for pure entertainment. I’m still a huge fan of EQ2 spell abilities / in-combat spell casting selections. I wouldn’t recommend getting into EQ2 it’s actually at the end of its life cycle on creativity and development. People are dropping like flies, because of the lack of content & creativity additions.

The itemization & creativity is all cookie cutter. The best looking items have to be purchased with money. EverQuest 2 has lost its magic; I really don’t even care to have even the best items in the game at Tier 9. EverQuest 1 is going F2P in march. This could be a sign that EverQuest Next is just around the corner. I have also noticed SoE talking about Planet Side 2. Planet Side 2 is made with the same Forge Light engine they are making EQ Next with. This could mean they are almost finished with both games.

@EQOAnostalgia I am an 8 year vet and raid leader in EQ2 on the Oasis server. I can guarantee you that this game is dropping quality, fast. You will enjoy your first toon, getting to lvl 90, maxing those AA's and running those end game zones. But then... you're done. Same fight scripts that have been recycled time and time again with slight changes. End game raiding is broken, bad. Not one guild has had any success in the plane of war, if anyone has made it inside at all. Been months and no fix.

@MegaWolftone I think the # of people that canceled accounts want to come back, but we are waiting for more content. SWTOR is no joke. It will be around for a long time. I didnt have party&guild chat for a week. Very buggy. I also lucked out on getting useless n group class & underpowered abilites for pvp Marauder. 2 of my best attacks are completely useless requiring me to incapacitate a target. U get 1 incapacitate spell that effects Robots only. Force Charge creates bugs&crashes the game

EQ 1 is btter than WoW just because it was more challenging. Use to play on Project 1999, and fell in love. Took me a while to learn the ropes but I got it down. Starting EQ 2 again today, and happy to come back for a while until I get my new computer to play Swtor :D

I think the hardest part to finding the "Best" MMORPG out there is because we look for what "We" want in a game and what "We" alone like. It is a matter of interest, and opinion. Here is a perfect example: I am a creative person, and seek out a game with more than a few classes, and with tons of races. I want a MMO that allows for flexibility and combination of skills and classes. I want an MMO that has dynamic combat. I want an MMO that changes for every player. Something very interactive.

@dreifub I wouldn't compare TOR to EQ2. TOR is a single player game with multi player features. It's like Guild Wars; fun through the first character playthrough. When you have maxed 1 character the game isn't fun anymore cause if you rolled an alt you would do the exactly same thing but with a different class story. TOR lacks replayability options and the cut scene dialgoues doesn't work 100% of the time. A lot of times the dialogue system just gets in the way from the mMO experience.

1: P2P, Pay to Play, I can't pay Monthly for that game anymore.

2: The graphics are absolutely horrible, I've saw Nintendo 64 Plants and Trees.. which also where 2-D, big disappointment.

3: Not enough at lower levels, though its better in Cataclysm.

4: Restrictions of Buying Mounts, ( They have there Real Money System )

@TheZyroGaming Dude, the only mounts you can buy are special unique mounts and there is like what, 3 of them? You can buy every other racial mount ingame for ridiculously low amounts of ingame gold or have rare versions drop from specific bosses or events, which can be farmed easily by a single player.

You can complain about a ton of things when it comes to wow, but mounts are certainly not between them.

I never experienced anything new with WoW just a bunch of recycled models and raids with different aesthetics. The gameplay is repetitive, and lacks dynamics. There might be a few new things every patch but most of it is still recycled engines and codes with a new look. All I saw in WoW was a flashy Click-and-play game. I still stand by my comment a few days ago on intrest

I never cared for EQ2. I loved EQ1 until sony took over. I loved Final Fantasy XI online until Playonline (a sony creation) got so bad that I quit. Also WoW does NOT have over 15mil and never has. Their peak was 12mil and are probably down to 10mil now, and going to keep dropping after SWTOR, GW2, TSW, TERA, and Archeage hit the shelves.

How many "new dailies" can you do over and over before you've done the same thing for a year straight? How many new bosses can you "kill the worms then hit the head" with before you realize it's a different way to do the same thing. That's all wow is.  Recycled crap from earlier in the game. Any new mechanic they add is just a different graphic and/or ordering of the same thing.

I still like Rift more - they just increased the server population cap and they've announced that pop has a steady increase. It feels a little shallow though. I wish they would add player housing. It'd do a world of good for the game. EQ2 does seem very interesting but I've only put in 20 mins on extended. I really like all the different classes and races. Rift's races are boring, and each solo soul tree is pretty dull.

Rift has tons of people because it just came out and everquest 2 is 7 years old so the playerbase is way smaller. The free to play is what i play there is one server for it. but the pay to play version has 9 servers wich you can read about them by searching everquest 2 server status on google and it will tell you how many people are on each server

@lilgoon513yurkin It's kind of difficult to explain. If you're content with Rift, I would just stay where you're at. Rift is fresh, easy to get into, and has a long life ahead of it, granted Trion plays their cards right.

There's plenty of quests to do in EQ2 and some dungeons, but nothing marvelous. If you're looking for world PvP, you pretty much have to play on a PvP server, as normal servers pretty much don't have PvP outside of battlegrounds.

Rift has the Rift events, which add a lot.
