  • Somebody once asked my why do you want to play more than one instrument? The answer is this! "I wish I was Todd Rundgren".

  • although not exactly my favorite type of music, this song is awesome. Live From daryls House rules

  • i want to be in a Todd/Daryl sandwich

  • Ignoring, (!!!), the incredible talent here, I gotta say that Daryl Hall is 65...!!!! Isn't he amazing?? I hopeI look THAT good at 65....Erm, I'm 55 btw... Wonderful music...

  • Daryl and Todd, please release this on an album - it's fantastic.

  • Very Well Done! When you do what you like, it isn't work. Obviously they love it, therefore we enjoy it.

  • annoying flashing shot camera work.

  • did they edit this out of the episode on television? don't remember seeing this song in the television episode of Daryl's house. unless I missed it.

  • live @ daryls rocks....

  • Excellent.

  • This is just wonderful.....

Its a good morning when you stumble onto Todd Rundgren singing Wait for me with Daryl Hall....

  • This is just wonderful.....

  • Possibly the most underated song in the vast Hall & Oates catalogue....Each version seems to increase it's appeal, & it's relevence...

  • My dear friend Steve bore an amazing similarity to Darryl, and loved the music of both him and Todd. He passed away in 2004, and has been sorely missed by many, none more than me. A brother of humour and generosity, of musical taste and giving. Rest in musical peace my friend.

  • I always thought that Todd and Darryl had a very similar voice style...such a great thing to see these guys performing together...

  • all I can say is Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Hall and Oates, where are they? PUT ThEM IN now

  • Why isn't Daryl Hall (and John Oates) in the rock & roll hall of fame???

  • IMO Philly music is just something magical & intrinsic. I've travelled the world over but somehow I consider myself a music "snob" from Philly. I was born there and grew up with it. Went to Temple in 1972 and followed Todd and Hall & Oates from their inception. What a magnificent performance of "Wait for Me". These guys are the bomb! Seen Todd and H&O in concert but love seeing them casually jam. True artists. True musicians.

  • Music is ageless.........

  • Hey I'm in that age era, and I'm a working musician!

  • Sounds great!

  • This is one of these songs you can just lay back, close your eyes and think of a very special woman or a very dear friend you gotta say something important to someone and may be not ever got the guts to. In my case the one... will know. Wait for me. And by the way Daryl and Todd: thank you for a very very special much for this version...

  • 60 is the new 40

  • Now thats what I call a Fucking Cattalina wine Mixer !!!!!! AWSOME !!!!!!

  • Amen

  • let's see, I think Daryl is 65...and Todd is older...but what great musicians...god I love this song...was it the H2O album? can't remember...but great stuff!!!

  • @seed1usa Daryl will be 65 in October and Todd is actually younger, at 63. Both still look and sound awesome. And "Wait for Me" is from the X-Static album.

  • Just couldn't see the AC show last month. Any more coming?

  • Mesmerizing! Much better arrangement than the original version. Slower tune and more soulful vocals......truly awesome!!

  • Two of my most favorite men......next to my husband ,,haha,Daryl, and Todd together..incredible :)))

  • Meanwhile Jay-Z and Lil Wayne are top of the charts. WTF!?!?!?!?!?

  • I can not get enough of LiveFromDarylsHouse. Everyone is SO talented. And I love watching the intereaction before/after the show. Daryl is a genius to start this site.

  • Todd Rundgren, is simply a great musician and song writer to. Amazing stuff here.

  • This absolutely beautiful I love this song so much! I The lyrics are meaningful :D

  • Frigging awsome ...

  • Makes me sad to see T-Bone here, knowing he's gone... a wonderful talent. :-)

  • Awesome stuff, when this song was out by Hall & Oates, I first thought it was a Todd song, had that "Todd-esque" quality. Then I heard that Todd produced them, and that was when their careers really took off. Man, can't believe how young these guys look! Daryl doesn't look any different than 30 years ago.

  • In the presence of greatness.

  • love this!

  • This is TRUE TALENT....... BEAUTIFUL BEAUTIFUL MUSIC AND VOICES.

  • Yes he's a legend..They are legends..Todd produced, engineered and mixed the"Bat out of Hell" album and played all the guitars..Listen to Jim Steinman talking about Todd being asked to do the motor cycle guitar for the lead track. He did it in one take! He just "twiddled something" and did it!! Love Daryl Hall though too..this show is the best on the net..Long may it continue. Take a look at the new one, recorded on March 15th at Todd's house on Hawaii ..Brilliant

  • I've always thought Todd and Daryl's voices were very similar although Daryl's voice has held up better over the years.

  • Another great performance.

  • JUST BEAUTIFUL!!!!!

It will be a long time before talent like this comes along again

  • Who can deny that "white boys" have soul too... There is no single color, or affiliation other than the true blue love for the expression of the soul. Bravo Daryl... as well as John, and Todd. You bring tears of joy to a big guys heart. Pass this to our children and the world will ok.... ...and right now, ok is not a bad thing to hope for. I hope my music can show the respect due to you all...

  • Philly Soul at it's best!! These guys are truly higher beings!!

  • I used to lay in my bed at night when I was in junior high and school and I would play Rock N Soul part 1. Wait for me was the last song on side 2. I used to consider it a throw away song cause it wasnt a big hit. Years later this is the song that touches me more than any of em on there. I like seeing Todd and Daryl together. Daryl and John's music takes me to all those cool places in the past and in my mind from my youth and in dreams yet to come. Thanks! Praying for your best in Jesus name!

  • @drhook54 I loved your post! Live from Daryl's House episodes are outstanding, especially #23 with The Great Todd Rundgren. Pray for you as well in Jesus' name!

  • oh ya know I get chills, so creative, so soulful a beautiful song...sung by two great writer/artists...Live from Daryls is superb...thanks guys

Hey you have to get Bos Scaggs down there what a deal!!!

  • Proud to be a Philly girl....there is NOTHING like Philly soul!!!!!

  • I'm from Detroit, but Philly effin' RULES!!!!

  • beautiful, Todd and Daryl & T Bone....

  • Too bad Laura Nyro's no longer with us. She would have fit in quite nicely with this collaboration.

  • Another fantastic version is Patrick Monahan's of Train. Gives me chills as well.

  • Beautiful song....beautifully done. Bravo.

  • Perfect.

  • My two fav artists! Thanks for this great clip! LFDH is the BEST!

  • One of my all time fav's !! Is it me or does Todd's vocals sound "Very Different" in the last few years ? A problem with his cords ?? Very well done to all. The audio is amazing !!!

  • @fretless282828 Have you seen him in concert lately???He still has it..incredible voice!!!!!

  • @fretless282828 I'm a HUGE Todd fan & I think it's just age catching up to him...he's 63 now, you know.

  • they sure don't write them like this anymore......and done by 2 CLASSIC performers.....thanks Daryl and Todd

  • Fantastic! Thank you.

  • Daryl and Todd, that is beautiful! Miss you T-Bone.

  • these guys gotta be close to 60 and they sound amazing. i never understood people who don't like todd's voice, if u close your eyes and dont pay attention to his weird movements he sounds amazing and he's easily one of the most underrated guitarists of the rock era

  • @steelyd2 Todd born June 22, 1948 .

  • @toddrunt over 60! wow, elton, daltrey, fagen, and mccartney wish they still sounded that good at that age

  • @steelyd2

Couldn't be more true...In music appreciation class 100 years from now these guys names will be way more important than what most people think. And Todd's movements don't seem weird to me. Peace.

  • @steelyd2 Todd is one of the most underrated guitarists, pianists, one-man-bands, producers and technical pioneers and all-around musical visionaries, not only of the rock era, but at least the 20th century

  • @steelyd2 he's always been brilliant

  • Respond to this video... All those Meat Loaf guitars....Todd

  • @steelyd2 There in the early 60's and never sounded better .. ROCK ON!

  • @steelyd2 his voice is fine but his hair is what does me in

  • Daryl, someone in Kansas City has a major, major crush on you! We have something in common; it's called CFS, and I pray that you are doing well, and maybe even in full swing these days! Stunning music at its finest!

  • R.I.P. T-Bone

Thanks for the many years of awesome music, I hope God's got you playing in Rock n Roll heaven.

  • This is the best one Daryl! You and Todd are awesome together! Did I hear Tour,It would be one that I couldnt miss! Hmmmm,One could only hope.

  • This a great show folks!! "Live from Daryl's House" Eh...it was always my fav from Hall and Oates...Todd just brings it to another level...up or down depends on the viewer! Funny...I have asked this question before, but time can be your enemy! :))

  • let's not forget T(bad to the)Bone

  • This is so awesome, love them both!!

  • alright now!

  • So talented...Todd is still great, and Daryl is a force of nature.

  • I've seen these two cats a few years ago, I loved "Hot Fun in the Summertime". I love to hear that one at "Daryl's House".

  • TODD IS GOD!!!

  • I always thought "Wait" & "Parallell Lines" were very similar songs...

Go war babies, sons of 1984 Zorro!

  • @TheChoofy1 Wow, never made that comparison..ok, now I see it...

  • Wow! Just incredible improvisation. Love both these guys and they can certainly mix up some fine music!

  • Ahhhhhh!!!!!! AWESOME!!

  • Beautifully retrospected.....The line,"Love is what is does and ours is doing nothing but,all the time we spent must be good for something".......Looking back in sadness..............

  • In addition to the musical interpretation of this soulful song elevating me to a higher plane of existence, complete with tears, laughter, melancholy, a sense of loss, redemption, paradise reclaimed and Todd and Daryl's ability to create a connection to everything right, good and true in the cosmos; Daryl Hall's Shirt is Pretty Cool!

  • Two of my favorite men in the same room. I'm in awe of the wonderful.

  • Wouw...you folks should be doing a lot more together ....these voices match so good together....makes me shiver how good this sounds!

  • Can anyone ask for more?

If you can, you need a check-up and a check-IN.

    M

  • A true musician loves what they do, and u can tell that these guys love music and sing it from their hearts.

Thanks guys for all the great songs....:)

  • I love TODD

  • A natural fit - daryl and todd. I remember the first time i heard this song and wondered if it was todd and why i didn't know he was coming out with a new album. then i realized who it was and knew my confusion made sense! l aways loved this song and thought it should've been a lot bigger and gotten more airplay.

  • Love Todd......so nice

  • I really love this "Philly Soul" work with Todd, Daryl, and the boys...Sure wish Daryl and Todd would do an album together.....Would be super!!! "Andy Pandy' :)

  • This version is soooo great!

  • Who did the express train to your heart song at the end originally?.

  • great drummer - very tasty - love his breaks!!!

  • @deeblooz --There called Fill's. Deeblooz. COOL!

  • @deeblooz Shawn Pelton from the Saturday Night Live Band... The Man's go Groove!!!!

  • Hey if you want a goodlaugh, check out an old skank called indiemom6 she is so bad you will probably have to get your computer de-loused!!!

  • Great rendition guys!

God Bless T-Bone Wolk. Missin' you Brother...R.I.P.

  • Would have loved to have been there in the room. Can't say that for many bands. Would have been smiling for weeks afterwards. You know its true.

  • They both sound great. I remember when Todd produced Hall & Oates in the '70s.

Wow I'm almost 49 now, where does it go? I never thought I'd be pushing 50!

  • WOW Todd and Daryl this song was made for them to sing together. I stumbled on this and wow I think I'll play it over and over again.

  • Just one of the best songs ever. I remember when I bought the original cassette

  • I have no words to express how awesome this is.

  • This song broke my heart the first time I heard it back in the 80s. Then I found it on the Net and it didn't break it again but it brought back some great memories. To cool at the end when Todd is tippsy on the martini,s and talking smack about the food. Real guys having fun. GOD bless em and GOD bless you.

  • Such a greatful fantastic live!

  • I love this song so much, it has so much meaning to me....after 45 years my first love and I are not together, but we still love each other more now than ever. I have been diagnosed with cancer with only three more years to live, so when the song says the light is fading fast, my heart breaks.....Yes, Jimmy I am waiting for you!!!!!

  • RIP T-Bone thanks for the beautiful music my prayers to the Daryl's House Crew, especially the handsome Daryl Hall and the fine Elliot Lewis.

  • Wolk is dead now. That is very sad. "You Make MY Dreams" and "Maneater" are all him.

    FROM ARGENTINA

  • RIP T-Bone. Great musician.

  • I am going to see H&O and TR next month in Atlanta...so overwhelmed and excited...MAGICK!

  • Very sad news: Wonderful T-Bone Wolk (the guitarist between Daryl and Todd) died on March 1st of a heart attack: I don't know if LFDH will continue, but it will no longer be the same. What an outstanding musician he was!

  • Absolutely stunning voices as always from these two. Thanks so much for sharing!

  • People who grew up in Los Angeles dont get what its like living in the east. Thats why you get the Rundgrens and Daryl Hall. Philly roots MATTER.;D

  • This is very good. Been waiting for this. Sorry I live in a distant country. Life's getting pretty nice out here, getting to know it's alwright in there. Keep it comming boys!!

  • This what music is all about. Class and talent..wonderful.....

  • By far the best performance on any of the Live from Daryl's House episodes. This is the way this song should have been recorded in the first place. Heartbreaking.

  • Awesome.Wish I could come over with my guitar and join in the fun!!!

  • There is nothing better than good music and good food!

  • Sure does give reason to the understanding how far todays music industry is off the tracks. These artists give us hope. I am so privileged to be able to hear. Thanks Mr. Hall and Mr. Rundgren, and everyone else in this room.

  • This effort FAR surpasses all that is intended to create~BRILLIANT~ YOU ALL have no idea how this type of venue, the song selections, and the professionalism of the musicians make the difference between a song and a memory~Fondly, Ms. Mel

  • Happy New year! to Mr. Daryl ,and Mr Todd.

  • These episodes are absolutely brilliant! Please keep on don't stop. This is the soul, this is the real deal.

  • looks like the same SG used on The 7 Rays video posted elsewhere on YouTube.

  • If I had to put another voice on Hall and Oates...Rundgren...

    And vice versa...Philly Rocks!!!!

  • Todd produced Hall & Oates, and this song always struck me as sounding like a TR song, but no one can sing it like Daryl Hall.

  • TR didn't produce this song originally (David Foster did, with Daryl), and Daryl wrote it.

  • Comment removed

  • I got chills listening to that, great acoustics.

  • Masterpiece : Daryl's piano intro is fabulous (I prefer him playing the piano than the guitar actually!). The final in 4:43 is great as well. I love Todd Rundgren, but he seems sometime off tune, be it with his voice or the guitar: He ruins the awesome riff guitar that T-Bone starts on 4:04. Too bad Todd and Daryl didn't sing "Love is the answer": One of my all time favorite.

  • no words can reach so excellent live sound, the truth that seeing this kind of shows I fall to my various idols, DARYL're a genius, your voice is in its fullness, congratulations from Argentina departe from a fan who has seen you grow musically !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • WHERE THE FUCK IS OATES,.....t bone aint playin bass......he look aweful!

  • Can you imagine how many times Daryl has sung this song? It obviously means a lot to him. You can't fake that kind of soul. He's so dreamy!

  • Todd stummed the guitar and I.........jizzed in my pantz
