an artificial human brain is scheduled for 2029. just calculate how old you will be in that year then you will see how far in the future it is and it will be easier for you to believe kurzweil.
Accelerating exponentially from 0.00000003 is a slow growth but once the threshold of the decimal is crossed, exponential growth can become quite brutal and rather quickly. Wait 30 years and get back to us on these. Ray Kurzweil is right! And I still await your response.
@Shadowstar204 Because I changed my mind on the issue well after the blog had already become an established brand name, and I don't feel like changing it right now.
It's true, the start of the 21st century marked the beginning of extraordinary advances. We are still at the early stages of many things. I also believe that there is a lot going on behind the scenes that we don't know about. Things that would make a huge impact on humanity. Maybe we're just not ready yet. Over time, we'll begin to see more and more. It won't be one huge explosion, and then bam, we're living underwater. We're depleting the earth. We'll find ways over time to continue living.

Ill see your 20 here is my 41 +1 (for insurance) and Ill raise the bet -

What I like about Kurzweil is that if you read his books, he backs everything he says up with objective statistical DATA not other thinkers. Your rational thinkers should have a discussion with historians, anthropologists, economics, politicians, and anyone who has taken a college course in forecasting. Once again - I challenge you Oxygen Burglar to name 10 rational thinkers of the 21st century who propose that the future is slowing and I will respond with 20 who claim the opposite.
OxygenBurglar, you need to open your eyes. Technology is definitely accelerating. It's apparent in everyday life. We are starting to rely on it more and more. Technology is meant to make life easier for humans. We always strive to learn more and progress. Why would we pass up this oppertunity? We never have, and will continue to learn and grow. It's inevitiable. 10 years ago, our android smart phones were unheard of. Think 10 years from now. It will happen. Learn to accept it.
Keep up the good work, Ray. It's a screwed-up world, or at least we are experiencing it that way, right now. Everyone needs to know that there's hope.
@oxygenburglar, what information are you basing your assessment on? I am really interested to know.
