Well, to be honest, depending on the direction of the light it can get tough to see something; especially when mounted on the bike or so. When you carry it in your hands and you can adjust the angle of the light, in my opinion it is not too bad, but still not as good as I read about the gpsmap60 and others... After all, when you get used to it then it's okay. For me personally it's worth it because of the touch screen and so on...
Thanks for the informative video. I think i will buy and Oregon 300 these days and i'm looking for some information regarding the functions of this device now. Overall it looks like a perfect beginners GPS.
do you mean the green fish at i.e. 7:55 ? it's "hunt and fish" and gives information, which time is "best" and "good" for hunting and fishing... no idea what the time calculation is based on...
pushing buttons doesn't make sounds; there are sounds (short beep) when navigating (i.e. announcement of the next turn) but unfortunately the beep is very gentle, so may not be heard in loud surroundings...
I didn't use it for navigation and can't compare to automotive devices but may not be best for that
Hey, thats a difficult question... I cant compare to other GPS-devices but many people say that it has a bad-readable display. I use it on the bicycle and in fact in half-shadow or if the sun is in the "wrong" position, it is very hard to see anything on the display. Actually it is better, when the background light is turned on but that wastes battery life.
I arrived everywhere but it could be much better, still enjoy the nice graphics. Good readability has GPSMap60 as I read in reviews...
does this work on the road aswell? If so is it as good as the nuvi series? thx

Reviews state that this unit's screen is almost impossible to see when used outside, especially in the sun. Can you comment?

Cool. does the screen scratch easily as reported? I have one on the way.

Well I don't have it in everyday-usage and not in really hard outdoor-usage but for me it is ok. I can't see any permanent scratches up to now.

There is a retainer for the bike and every oregon is waterproof. So yes, I would say, it's the best navigation system you can buy for your bike.

What is the screen with the cartoon frog on it?
Also, does it make sounds when you push onscreen buttons,
or approach turns on routes?
