  • is it on auto pilot if so that is nise wow

  • Great

  • this is NOTHING! once I sailed a 1 ft schooner in 60ft seas and 100kts wind straight over the S. Pole. Also, pot cures everything.

  • Nice one I am very jelous of your experience but at the same time I would be very scared to do something like that, VERY scared indeed!

    Very well done!

  • @carbonrocket I am in full agreence

  • gay porn

  • yeah i like to be on that place but i am in my office buuaaah

  • gurgle , gurgle, belch, puuuuuck ...Raaaaalph !

  • CAPE HORN... Mike Mozart brought me becuz I had the urge to see if this was a real place

  • looks much crazier than suburban america, for sure.

  • The Suburbs are sailing.

  • Say Cape Horn 5 times fast

    lol

  • Aw man i though it was sailing off of gay porn:(

  • @nerdyemovampireisbi = moron.

  • @tomperanteau so.. At me = moron?

  • Don't know much about boats but these are sure tough vessels to sail around the world. Must be one helluva adventure. Hats off to all who attempt this.

  • look ma no hands

  • can i go sailing with you? it looks so cool!

  • Seems like a nice day, Patagoniawise :)

  • Nice! Wish I knew how to sail!

  • Wonderful video...thanks for posting it..:)

  • Jess, admit it, you had another vessal shadowing you all along for backup!

Stop the deception and tell.......satalites don't lie.

  • man, this is the "absolutely magnificent" day off horn... you can find that kind of weather there like twice in a year if even that. U were lucky.

  • cape horn cape horn cape horn cape horn cape horn cape horn

    =D

  • yeh i went round back in'92. pretty balmy. just a 30 foot swell with the occasional 60 foot one that stacked up and only 60-gusting to 80 knots.

  • Your mic makes it sound windy but it doesn't look too bad, just a large swell.

  • cape horn=gay porn

  • rounded cape horn only once with my dad on his 60 4 years ago nothing but good weather and smooth sailing cold as shit though

  • i love cape horn!

  • i bet you do lol

  • if you say "cape horn" really fast it sounds like "gay porn"! lol

  • seamen love cape horn XD

  • hahahaha! Yeah, Mike Mozart

  • @m1up mike mozart rules!!

  • Gay Porn :D

  • That's awesome, i have read alot of old Naval stories about how dangerous it is to sail around Cape Horn. Question for you sailors our there. Is a Catilina style sail boat the best for a solo sailor? i want to live on the boat and eventually sail around the world with it.

  • @stonewall97 Yours is a sloop rig and its just fine for solo. Focus more on your skills and wisdom of the ocean for now then upon your boat. I'm sure many Catilinas are out there now sailing around the world. You know its better to be a good sailor on a bad boat then a bad sailor on a good boad. My girlfrind and I are getting ready to sail our 40ft cutter on a 5 year round the world voyage. I hope to see you in some port someday. S/V Siberian Sea

  • akseakayaker: I agree, it will probably take me 1 year of training and experience before i go sail off on my own... i will hire an experienced captain to sail my boat and train me while at sea.. i hope i can hire someone who acts like Captain Ron. LOL Captain Ron is a funny movie, i will watch it tonight.

    Thanks for your advice.

  • are you saying its dangorous around gay porn and that you want to live on it and sail around the world with it?

  • ummm no, read my comment again, if you can read english of course.

  • Laszlokn you would know all about that.

  • Say "Cape Horn" five times.

  • Yaya, the landchampion talking. The reef is for both less swinging and more wind in the genua for speed.

The sweet water professor gre44444 will have to start some days coast sailing as a start, I estimate. Wait to you wish for some comfort when living on a ship in stead of mere sailing it. I respect every second on the video.

  • it is vey comn what we see. it woud be better if the boat was withotut reef and genoa 1!!

  • westsail - nice. Plenty of Westsails have rounded the horn.

  • you had a nice day

    fortunate ,,

  • is that a 36' boat?

  • 42' Westsail Center Cockpit Cutter

  • Nice! My friend has a Westsail (32'? i think). He just headed out to Port Townsend, WA in the Puget Sound. There is a Westsail boat rally taking place there this weekend.

  • @bobanero

Long keel right? Just looking at the way she boogies from side-to-side downwind.. My folkboat does the same when she can't go any faster (don't think I'll be taking her round cape horn anytime soon though ,-)

Nice boat, nice video, must have been a great experience. I'm jealous.

  • What do you mean with small boat cruiselover5? Small,.... compared to what? The Queen Mary?

Nice shot 'bobanero', ....and the cockpit not too crowded in this weather conditions, it seems:)

  • WOW THATS A SMALL BOAT FOR CAPE HORN!

  • Lol didnt you know youtube is full of professional boat captains that have sailed bigger boats in rougher seas than the video they happen to be watching when they comment?

  • ^^ LOL great comment, and so true. I've been checking out these sort of vids, and in each and everyone of them, some dipstick feels the urge to say how "that's nothing", "these are baby waves", "you call that a storm?" and how he's "been through much worse".

  • Anyone who's sailed off-shore will know that it is impossible to tell if that is 'The Horn' or not.. It doesn't always blow over 45 kts ya know

    You tube know-it-all- bedroom-sailing tossaz..

  • ...awesome!

  • Great video, there is always some yahoo to challenge, Thats not the Horn! Safe passages my friend.

  • Nice video.

wHAt is the wind force in the moment of the clip?

  • This video was made about 4 hours after we passed Cape Horn, so we were probably 30-40 miles away, on our way towards Falkland Islands. It was a pretty good day, weatherwise. Another boat came through a couple days earlier and got knocked down. We were very lucky.

  • @bobanero

not Falkland Islands, it is Islas Malvinas

  • @bobanero

not falkland islands, islas malvinas ;)

  • the noise of the wind is anoying.. haha.

    but awesome vid :D

  • NICE BOAT!!!....I see some wood topside. I'm guessing 50-55 ft. Nice! What's her name?

  • 42 ft Westsail - name is Fiona

  • good one

  • thanx for sharing the video

too bad it's short, but i'm sure you had other thngs to attend to !!...

it's already great that you made any shot at all

    :)))

  • autopilot works well!

  • Wouhouuu !!

  • Wow! That's some serious sailing there! Well done to you!

  • nice, ummm....barf....video..urp..thanks for...ummm...barf... posting it. I couldn't do that, bravo for you.

  • Was it a storm jib you had set and if so, how many knots did you make?

  • Great video. Thanks for uploading it for us to see. Much appreciated. How about making a movie of your trip and uploading to google video. That would be awesome.

  • Gran video. Yo estuve en Cabo de Hornos. Vivi 4 meses, con viento mas de 100 nudos y temperatura -26 ºC.

    Saludos

    Samuel

  • That looks really crazy.

  • Super sprawa, ale raczej nie chciałbym byc na tej łajbie.

  • Great video! I've sailed around the Horn and those waters are all that legend says they are! Great video. Currently sail the Great Lakes but will get back to bluwater cruising in the next couple years. Superb video

  • Wow, poled out jib around the Horn -- much bigger ____ than me! Good job, even nice to see the dodger rolled down. Yikes.

  • See Irving Johnson's Around Cape Horn for some REAL fun stuff!

  • We watched that video during the trip, that was an impressive tale. We had it pretty easy compared to that. In this clip the wind is probably blowing 40-50, but it's from behind.

  • yes, one day

  • Looks like some Rough Stuff! Great Video. I learned how to sail on a Sailfish Boat designed by Alcort. My Dad and I put it all together and I learned the hard way how to sail. But this boat in the vid is a much bigger boat.

  • I am so jealous...

  • One day.
