I have a good qestion for all of You, who know something more about Audi... why Audi stopped the production of those perfect 5cyl engines?!?!?! They're unbeatable in every aspect (except the fuel mileage, but that's a detail :D)
@TransAmDrifter the engine was too standable and too thirsty - audi makes money in selling new cars but who buys a new one if the old makes no problems? Other reason could be that the engine was built in frontlongitudinally - a v6 or v8 engine doesnt need so much space - audi wanted to be a car premium seller in this time - biggest competitor was and is mercedes and bmw - all of them had a v8 in their product line - so audi built this crap too. I think the true facts of the matter will be a mix
@Kurzb3 Anyone will buy the new one, who don't know what to do with their money :D When it's about me I won't ever buy a car newer, than 1998... IMHO that's the time, when even german companies stopped making quality products. I'm buying a C4 Quattro 2.5TDI Avant and it will match my needs of an in-any-way-universal vehicle just fine! V8 engines are great, but only US-made ;)
@TransAmDrifter I agree completely - after the Audi C4 the quality isnt as good as before only the impression of the interior is better in the newer models but thats all. The inline 5cylinder 2.5 TDI is imo the best and most reliable diesel engine from audi - after this they built the biggest bullshit ever - the 2.5TDI V6...
