  • My advice, (although im in the same boat still ttc) would be to use both, untill you know for sure your ovulating each month. When you know more about your cycles and can feel when your ovulating i think its fine to just use the strips and not the BBT. The reason is i have found it to be too stressfull, waking up at the same time, worrying about taking your temp, and constently worrying its not up high enough during the 2ww. Good luck my dear and thanks for keeping us posted.

  • thanks for your advice... question when using the bbt after you have detected ovulation temps should stay high...and when af is about to show the temp will start to drop right????? if it doesn't does that mean you are at a good chance of being preg???

  • Exactley.... Yes, remember though, there has to be at least 3 higher temp for it to be a thermal shift and ovulation. if your pregnant it should stay up (high) after af is due. Looking at my charts it will gradually go up after ovulation and stay high or if its a tri-phasic it will gradually get higher like steps until it drops usually the day of af. A couple times though, it has stayed higher than the cover line after af arrives but then goes down unfortunaly. Im 2 DPO now, we'll see:) Good luk

  • I'd use both. A BBT thermometer should be less than $10 at target or walmart. I purchased 100 opks and 25 hpt with shipping for about $25 from a seller on ebay. I bought the tests in December and am only about halfway through my stash. MUCH cheaper than buying the opks at the store.

  • wow thats an awesome deal...yea im afraid i will go through them like hot cakes like i do all the time...thanks for your help i will have to check that out. sounds stupid but i have never done anything on ebay and im not sure how you do all the bidding and stuff...so it will be new to me : )

  • I'm gonna go with everyone else on this and say do both. Charting is great for confirming that you ovulate [after it happens] and the opk's are great for giving you the advance warning of when to bd. lots of luck for this cycle.

  • yea knowing when you ovulated is so helpful and at least you know you did what you could when you could so thanks for the comment i def went with both!

  • Do both. Id do anything to make sure your ovulating...especially if you want a baby really bad..which I know you do!

Oooh and love the pond, I want one of those lol! Ill have to get my husband to do that. He loves doing that stuff too.

  • yey for our husbands doing yard work haha hey if he wants to do it i won't stop him but of course we have to put our 2 cents in right haha. def trying both thanks for the comment

  • I would recommend doing both! Although I don't think you specifically need to buy a basal one (don't trust me on that one)

BTW I'm jealous of your yard...and your hubby haha..tons of baby dust to you this cycle!! xx

  • haha thanks i would have to say he does a pretty good job...

  • I would definitely recommend doing both.. That is what I am currently doing :) The little pond is gorgeous and so relaxing... I would love something like that in my home too..

  • I will def try both...and thank you for your comment!

  • I love the lil pond and your backyard!! Last month I used the ovulation sticks, pregnancy sticks and thermometer. I would highly recommend them all. I, also have a ClearBlue Easy Fertility Monitor but you have to test when it tells you to. Atleast with the ovulation sticks you can do it at anytime. Good luck to you this month!

  • thank you for your advice! Good Luck to you!

  • wooo!! im the 1st! lol Lucy (xxxjolepolexxx) used both when she was ttc. She gave good reviews! Im started to chart this month and plan on using both. We wont be actively ttc until like oct but i want to make sure that im not goin to have any issues before then! Love your yard!

  • thank you!
