This scene doesn't make him look like a god of battle or even reckless. He's just running and there's no enemy troops anywhere. You don't even know what exactly he's running for. Maybe he's running to catch up with his allies, who appear to have cleared this area already.
It's just a little ridiculous to say that Cao Cao is being overrated, when he's just running and Zuo Ci APPEARS OUT OF NOWHERE in the same scene.
