  • Hey brian !!! dis is Manik frm India, i recently bought a new bike n ya like most amateur bikers the side stand ws a problem 4 me too coz me being a thin guy n my bike being this heavy beast !!! • Thank you for posting this video. I ride a Nighthawk 550 and I've used the center stand to change my oil before. However, I got on the bike, pushed down and rocked back until I got it up (I did the reverse to get it back down). I also had someone helping me, pulling back on the grab bar. However, this looks like a much easier and safer way of going about this and best of all, it can be done by one person. 5 stars!

  • Thanks for the comment! The center stand is so useful (and easy to use, once you know how!) I wonder about some of the newer bikes with the 'underslung' exhaust (e.g. Kawasaki Ninja 650, ER6n and Versys)...there doesn't seem to be any way to mount a center stand on those...a real shortcoming IMO.

  • great explanation! I like to sit on the bike to take it down, but the center stand is a great way to do maintenance on the bike, and with the right technique even a very small person can put the bike up on the stand. Currently my 400 is sitting on the center stand with the swing arm removed...keeps teh bike level and straight.
