  • Great Job TC!

  • for those of you saying this is a bad interpretation of this piece, you obviously haven't attempted bill evans's style. it's impossible to replicate. the best we can do is try our best to recreate the harmonic structure, and the general emotion of the piece. Bill's rhythm, his right hand legato whilst simultaneously maintaining left hand stacatto, that's something only a heroin-addict GENIUS can accomplish.. while high on heroin.

  • @RandyNewmanFan I agree with you. It is quite impossible to replicate. for what its worth, she did beautiful job.

  • insulto a bill evans

  • Sorry, but you completely dig in the magic Evans created with this song.

  • please quit the piano!

  • you shouldnt be playing piano at all. and you are a mentor? what a shame if you teach how you play. you should be friends with kenny g or richard clayderman....not in a jazz world. please quit the piano

  • Hey TC...cool!

    Call me!

  • yes man, beautiful hair, hairdressing salon it's a good business

  • arrgghhhhhh!!!

  • It's A Jazz Standard ... You Play It Pretty Good But You Play It Like It's a Chopin Waltz....Which It's Not

  • And You Type Like You Are At Age Of Seven.

  • Nicely done!

  • I agree. I wish I could play half as well, but Bill Evans you're not.

  • semana - It's the ol' herd (as in "cows") instinct. Someone makes a snarky comment, and others see the green light to pile on.

TC played the piece flawlessly--a lot better than some others I've heard here on YouTube! And his piano was in tune!

And, since when is a musician's hair part of the discussion? Brubeck's could be pretty wild! Evans must've used a pound of Brylcream every time he came on stage.

Thanks TC for posting this video. I enjoyed it, and I know others did as well.

  • what the hell is this?

  • No, just no.

  • Sounds more like "Waltz for Schubert" than "Waltz for debby"

  • Not even close... he's good as a sight reader, and a good pianist, but not a jazz musician, and doesn't not just even strike the same awe as the other video. With the original, you can't but help feel the beauty and unbridled joy when he breaks out in "swing". With this, you're waiting to hear him break out - doesn't happen. Don't compete with composer, you'll fall flat every time.

  • @mrfrozone5 chopin admired certain others' for their ability to outperform him on his own nocturnes... a better line would have been "don't compete with evans"

  • Este waltz for debby està muy bien desde el punto de vista jazz y tambien desde el punto de vista clasico !!! que se jodan los criticones de mierda (que seguro no saben tocar nada)

  • where's the groove?

  • parece una brujita

  • This goes to show that a great composition will sound good even if played by a crappy musician.

  • ugh.

    same beat? throughout?

    this man is embarrassing.

he has no soul like bill evans did.

Evans put so much thought and power into each note.

    this man has NONE

  • it's not bill. he is a jazz shit because he reads music while playing

  • Beautiful.

  • ma nooooooooo!...non ci siamo proprio...dall'attacco tutto fuori non ci piace proprio dai!!..lascia stare bill evans ma che ti ha fatto...cmq molto bravo eh...

  • ♥♥ it!

  • Oh..I was wrong...She's a guy!!

  • Hmmmm...I am afraid she lacks the "butterfly touch" of Bill Evans. Never too late to acquire it though.

  • i wish i could play like you. wow. bravo!!

  • So.....stiff.

  • I can write for you any sheet music

  • write me a transcription of this

  • i want round about midnight

  • nice job...you didnt over play it

  • this made me nothing but angry. aah.

  • great, but so white

  • what a great keyboard player, shame that such a master could be such a square when in the dead ( i.e. refused LSD)

  • Such an interesting focus. (bty, I notice there is no reference to who the 24 y.o. luthier really is. In my book, that makes you cowardly. Prove me wrong and let us see who you really are.)

  • I am in no way a coward, just a fan of the grateful dead, and I think it is a shame that someone with such talent couldn't fit in. I am anthony l. (I dont wish to disclose my full name)and I am open to any critisism, but not from someone who will follow TC like a blind sheep, besides, jazz shouldn't be played just from a sheet

  • Thanks Anthony. I appreciate your response. Pls notice I refrained from calling you a coward. I simply stated one who would make a judgement who is not willing to show his face would be. Your response makes you not. (p.s.-The sheet notes are the basic piece. Tom's version here is much more than what's on the sheet.)

  • so youre saying that taking drugs and dying makes you cool? idiot..

  • wow, i wish i can play like that.

  • Bill Evans waltz played as if it were from STRAUSS - tra, la, la, la , 1, 2, 3... 1, 2, 3... and the final is too Rachmaninov, dramatic! study jazz, learn what it means!

    Feel it!

  • T did not upload, nor did he even make this video; I did. (I, for one, am glad he took time during a break to play such a rewarding piece.) I guess, if you feel slighted, you can get your money back.

  • @Dihelson "Too Rachmaninov" your mama!

  • It really is great!!

beautifull grand piano by the way!;)

  • lol, i hope the guy aint readin off a sheet..whats so inspiring about that? this is jazz.if you hear bill play it , he swings and improvs half way through.theguy on this video aint nothin but a richard claydermen on jazz!!lol

  • i agree wi you man

  • Beautifull!love it!

  • Fantastic. The man never really got the respect he deserved. He's really a brilliant musician.

  • Great to see the master in his element

  • it´s a nice version!!
