pass me a steamed bun while you're there? :P They looked good! And, I would dare try some oden too. (Starts to wonder how much weight he's going to gain on the trip he's planning lol)
Nikuman are like manapua in Hawaii. They are usually filled with char siu which is pork that has a red color. Manapua are a local favorite. They are really good!
I appreciate that you show all sorts of food. Not just the food that suits your taste. This is a very decent way to present the culinary offerings of Japan. I for example like most things that are edible. One must realise that my experience & exposure may be some what limited as compared to you. What I am saying is; thank you for sharing & explaining as many different food types as you can. It would be short sighted to limit others to your tastes. Thanks for going beyond that. Cheers!
I'm part Filipina, and Nikuman is also a Filipino version of "Siopao." It is a steamed bun filled with either shredded sweet marinated pork and/or marinated shredded chicken. It's very tastey indeed! Now, I'm getting hungry! :)
Nikuman = siopao in Philippines. (chicken pao, pork pao, whatever pao). Very delicious.. usually paired with a bowl of noodle soup on the side (or front).
MMMM MMMM MMMM Tasty looking, I love how names for food in Japanese make sense rather than just some dumb name like the category of food called pastries in English, really I have know Idea if that actually means something. NikuMan makes sense
Have you heard of NIKUMANGUITAR? She is a Japanese woman who plays VERY GOOD guitar :) you should all check her out, no i wasnt asked to do this XD i just saw nikuman and it reminded me of her.
Those Nikuman look just like the Siopao you get in the Philippines! I LOVE them. My mum makes beef and egg ones. Ooooh, now I'm craving some! Must make a road trip home soon! Thanks for the video. Would love to try Oden and Nikuman one day .
do they steam them for you? we have a restraunt with those Nikuman but i dont know how to cook or eat the properly....i took one home and steamed it in a damp paper towel in the microwave but it was kinda weird and sticky :o what did i do wring i thought they were supposed to be warmed
I love Nikuman. They call it Siopao in the Philippines and they have it here in California. I guess having somethng like that in a convenience store makes it all the more convenient, eh?
God I love bao!! Do they have sweet nikuman too? There's a really yummy coconut and also red bean bao I can get at the local Asian market. Anything similar in Japan?
i always find your videos really interesting!....and tbh i had never really thought of japan b4. I mean iv wanted to go there before, but i had never really look into it like this. Haha thanks for the vids!
@TehONE117 check wikipedia or search on google images "siaopao" and see it recommends "siopao". Also I asked my mum and she said that's how it is spelled. She's Philippino so I think she would know!
