@tdyduch13 -I have plenty of respect for the Polish people as well as Germans. I grew up in a city that was heavily German on one side and Polish on the other. Both were hard working people, law abiding and kept their homes and lawns clean and tidy. I am not an expert on this German- Polish WW2 matter and know that there are strong emotions on both sides. Whatever the truth, I trust that 99% or more of the Polish people are truly fine people and that goes for Germans as well.

@tdyduch13 -I have plenty of respect for the Polish people as well as Germans. I grew up in a city that was heavily German on one side and Polish on the other. Both were hard working people, law abiding and kept their homes and lawns clean and tidy. I am not an expert on this German- Polish WW2 matter and know that there are strong emotions on both sides. Whatever the truth, I trust that 99% or more of the Polish people are truly fine people and that goes for Germans as well.

War is war , but still certain rules do apply. @390bullitt1968 part 2- My guess is that Hitler did not want to punish the Poles, but saw as his real enemy Russia and knew he had to neutralize Poland in order to capture Russia. I am guessing he wanted Jews moved east to rebuild Russian cities and roads. Hitlers actions at Dunkirk and in France prove his plans were limited in scope. Prussia and Russia tried to eliminate polish culture, banning polish arts and literature, while Austria Hungargy allowed the culture to remain, so as Poles we still had plenty of hate towards both

There's no question he took extreme measures to accomplish his vision - horrible things were done, many people died. However...contrary to the commonly accepted belief, the man was no mere murderous monster bent on destroying humanity. He was wickedly smart, he put vast amounts of energy and thought into doing what he felt was right for his people...he was human. Which is scarier, because it shows the innate potential we all have for such deeds if put in the right position at the right time.
