  • Where exactly did you place the jack under the car area?

  • Did you have to remove the tire to place the jack underneath the engine. And did you say you placed a 2 by 4 on the jack too?

  • Fuck that

  • I work on the daughters 02 Grand AM GT, was kinda terrified of taking on this job, looks easy. Thanks for the upload Fred.

  • Good Video. This will surely help me when I change the belt on my 04' Alero w/3400

  • Thank you guys SOOO much!! This video really helped me out alot. Thanks Again keep up the good work :)

  • Dude, thank you so much for this video. I was afraid of unbolting the engine until I saw this vid.

    Thanks!

Just wish my impact gun worked... I had to use a breaker bar to undo the mount... Not a lot of space in there to use a breaker bar... I wish I was my neighbor, just so I could've watched me fight...

It gave up before I did. :)

  • great video, thanks a ton.

  • thanks! I just changed my belt after it near exploded on me last night

  • Thanks man! You really helped me figure out how to get this project done!

  • nice vid dude. i have a question. where do u recomend that the jack suport the engine so i wont demage any metal or something else??? thanks

  • Thanks Fred, its a 107 here in Kansas so having the info cuts down on my overheating.

  • video really helped. needed to change alternator and seeing this saved a huge headache with belt tensioner.

  • I had to change the serpentine belt on my 2000 malibu last week. I think you showed the procedure pretty well. It really isn't a difficult job, but if you don't have a really thin profile 3/8" breaker bar or in your case, the special GM tool, it can nearly be impossible. I also found it helped to lift the engine about 1/2 inch or so after removing the engine mount plate. It helped to get the belt through that opening.

  • very helpful thanks

  • Why do people always say to lower the engine an inch? All you had to do was take the engine bracket off. I hate how the grand am's have that stupid bracket there. They turn a $20 serpentine belt job into a $200 one!

  • @ohio1998 Late 90's GM products are notorious for having all sorts of evil things like that.

Engineering like this and it's no wonder they needed a bailout.

I've done nothing but cuss at my GA...

Why can't it be like my Jeep?

4 or 5 wrenches and I can have the whole thing apart.

...and I have to take the dang thing apart about once a week. :(
