  • my dream school

  • Didnt know corp style perussionist were so closed minded. Sure corp lines are cleaner but here's the fundamental difference. Most corp style programs have one show that they do all year long. And most corp drumlines learn a set number of cadences a season. Probably about 5 or 6. Showstyle? BCC does about 3-4 different shows a year music and all. And our book of cadences (per season 20 or so cadences). I already know the corp guys arent gettin down like that. Plus DCI lines practice 24-7, we dont

  • @impactology08 IKR we got class to attend lol....

  • We should work togethern Could you imagine if HBCU's were playing and performing what they already do at the clean level of a top 3 DCI line and if DCI lines added back in the stick visuals, stick tricks of the 70's/80's , etc and had a little groove in their book ( think Thurston's years at Crossmen )? We would all be better and just blow peoples minds. I was never in a HBCU style H.S. band but a lof of my family was. I was in DCI for 6 years as a member and 7 as a teacher.

  • The Dragonmaster,

Any time the percussion section are playing by themselves, it is a cadence rather they are performing a drum feature or not. By you saying that HBCU lines not having time to focus on drum corps stuff is a cop out. Whether it is for entertainment or for competition, the line is suppose play with precision. The sounds is suppose to be crisp and clean. BCC is not there yet. But Norfolk State Drumline can show you how it is done.

  • @franzswa I see what you mean....and i dont like how dragonmaster said all that drum corp stuff like Showstyle is better then Corp..They both have there pros and cons...Ive marched showstyle all my life but i still respect Corp Style...But this video is a little old now this was 2007feature cookman has improved a whole lot now..Last year was probably there best overall feature..And i like NSU and they are pretty clean but they play the exact samething every year in they blocks which gets boring

  • why they playin dem rudimental high school cadences

  • I wanna see yall cush step to em....i'll be there in 2010.....in the fall......

  • Its gone be crazy when shaw play them this year lol i just hope we do good

  • Dude said 'they dropping sticks all over the place!' lol at 3:38

  • In addition uniquetouch05, I did not play at neither College. But I did play in DCI. I also write cadences. I do recognize the greatness is ALL College Drumlines. Be it HBCU Drumlines, and Major University Division 1 Drumlines. While I understand the difference in performance, the traditional basic drum rudimments are the same in all Drumline starting in Grade School. If you listen, you can tell that the sanres need to clean up their open rolls, and chops. Now do you play for BCC.?

  • I guess no one. But the question is do you care how you sound when you write? Well if you are not ashame, and embarrassed on your writing skills, then I feel sorry for you, and I am ashamed for you as well. If you are in College, try spending more time in your basic studies than discussing the BCC Drumline.

My point is what I have been saying all along. BCC are good with their visuals, and the cadence sound okay. A little bit repeating, but I ok. The snare line need a lot of work.

  • @franzswa dude they only had about a week to put this together and this isnot a cadence its a percussion feature and HBCU lines dont have time to focus on all that drum corps stuff cause if they did they wouldnt have nothing to perform for the crowd their comepitions are based on audiences reaction instead of judges all though they do have judges.

  • uniquetouch05, I know you don't care. Myself, and everyone can recognize that attitude as well. It's like you're saying you can't read, and so what! Nevertheless, if those snares clean up their open rolls and chops, the line will sound much better. They are bring down the line.

  • @franzswa dude they are actually one of the cleanest hbcu lines out there next to NSU and they only had about a week to put this all together

  • BCC are good but I honestly believe that NSU Drumline are better. Their line plays a lot cleaner, to include better visuals.

  • BCC has done better over the years but their snare line is not clean. They should be clean and crisp.

  • dude I'm tired of seeing yo ass disrespting S phi.... who in the hell do you or did you play for... must be nobody's... You're always on bethune's page..... take you're ass somewhere else.... DAMN!!!!!!!

  • Well uniquetouch05, It really doesn't matter who I played for. What matters is that NSU is better. But if you really want to know, I teach appled percussion at a Major University, and volunteer at a High School to assist with their Drumline. I'm not on here to bash anyone. You should be able to see this from my comments. But by the way you write, your communication skills are bad. If you do go to BCC, try enrolling in some English 101 and spend some time there before responding to me.

  • whats that mean?

  • HISTORICALY BLACK COLLEGE

  • is cookman an all black school? i dont mean to be racist but im just wondering bc i never saw a white person.

  • Its an hbcu....

  • Man as much as I love my scsu drumline i must say if I had to say another drumline was better it would be this one and this one only. In recent years SCSU has been great but BCC is great too. Hard one for me and I went to SCSU.

  • tHEIR STYLE IS WHAT MAKES THEM THE BEST...... MDFS IS JUST TO DAMN BORING

  • taubetasigma9 that's a good point when you thing about it not only the drumline but the band as a whole has nice arse shows everytime to and there always clean so man I just dont think you can compare those 2 lines S.I. or MDFS

  • paradiddle

  • lol @ bamm 602 there are plenty of other schools out there that play there instruments like musician besides nsu plus they arent two dimensional like nsu :) thats what you tube is for expand your horizons guy lol

  • No need to get upset I said MOST schools. I think this line is pretty good. Just a personal opinion that MDFS is the cream of the crop. Norfolk can do what you guys do, how about seeing if you guys can do what they do?

  • Man if I was the Band director, I would give the guy who caught that stick a full scholarship lol

  • i woulda gave the 1 who thru it lol

  • lol its funny how ppl wanna try to compare us to corp lines lol were not norfolk we dont try to imitate corps lines we have our own style literaly form technique everything so you cant really compare us to a drum corp cuz thats not what were trying to emulate :)but i guess were doin somethin right if yall are makin such a fuss about things .....SSSS PHI

  • why are you guys always fighting over who is better? just curious....

  • my cuz jabbar real on dat snare i bet he goin go here and be da best one there probably section leader his freshman year

  • @ 4:32 what is that cadence called

  • bro who are u

  • Bro if u got to roosevelt middle in west palm i went there bro class of 06 and every since then yall been sorry ass fuck so i might not even wanna goin this conversation i was there when the original Mr. Bell was there and nnow im hopin his son will get things back how they used to be cause yall sorry ass fuck right now i went up there and the percussion director had yall playin basketball that aint got shit to do with band and by the way cookman might beat famu drumline wise but band wise never

  • That shit was so fuckin gay niggas droppin sticks all ova the place with no excuse at least at drums on fire it was fuckin raining so famu had an excuse to be droppin stick who doesnt drop sticks while playing in the rain..they was playin in a dry cold ass arena so theres no excuse and by the way time bomb and old sequence and groove theory is better than that shit str8 up...

  • hell no

  • the fact still is, its two different styles, im not gonna say there totally different, but the difference still remains and it not like they sound bad or something shit they still sound good as hell.

  • i mean i see wat you are saying on da whole technique and perfextion but you have to entertain the crowd also i think all of it has an importance to a drumline perfect example Norfolk now dats how a drumline should be they have technique there clean and showmanship so it all plays a vital role

  • i wonder wat they did to that guy for dropping his stick

  • that bitch ass dick in dah booty motha fucka

"lyrikkalvision07" better shut up and keep his comments 2 himself, and i dont give a rats azz bout where he goes dey still aint better den Sudden Impact.....witcha lame ass "role patterns" cuz u don got me pissed off ya fuck ass shoe be

  • okay BCU now that, that lame guy(lyrikkalvision) stop commenting me I forgot to say yall sound wonderful like always, and I see some of my LB'S from the regiment (LAKES) yall keep holdin it down for the crib.

    Mr. Fantastic

  • Why does BCU always have dirty snares...I wouldve thought after becoming a university they would clean their snares up. I guess not.

  • fuck you, you stupid ass hater that will never be able to make this section, stay in high school young buck

    Mr. Fantastic

  • Im in college. Have been for 3 years now. BCU has never had clean snares. Please...I go to a corps style school and we would rape bcc. They funky but they'll never be clean...sorry

  • so what school do you go to and please let it be a school worth arguing about

    Mr. Fantastic

  • Well my friend I attend georgia southern and there is nothing to argue about until BCU has clean snares!!! They should go back to being called BCC! They dont deserve the university status until they have clean snares!!!! Thats the melody of the drumline!!!

  • well to end this on a positive note (dont comment back) now that they are a university why dont you assist them instead of downing them until you can do that why dont you keep your comments and remarks to yourself ya digg

    Mr. Fantastic

  • Well, they need to do roll patterns, have everybody's stick heights the same and do alot of praying. This is atrocious. How you gonna say dont comment back...come on now. Well, at least they have heart. I dont know why corps style drumlines focus on technique and perfection and showstyle lines focus on.....beats. Can anybody answer this?

  • okay buddy what in the hell do this have to do with me, to make this short I dont care about what you say they should do, cookman is at the peak of their game, doing commercials and etc why you hate. So please stop writing me.

    Mr. Fantastic

  • As long as you face the fact that HBCU lines are outcast in the world of percussion. BCC will never be as good as corps style line...never. Norfolk is the only good/clean HBCU line....wow. When it comes down to it, I guess being funky isnt the answer huh...

  • okay you won Dci lines are cleaner so let it go, and get off BCU nut sack and to be honest its not what you like, its what the crowd likes, and last percussionist line up around the corner to be on this line.

    Mr. Fantastic

  • You're absolutely correct my friend about NSU. MDFS is definitely the cream of the crop when it comes to percussion in the HBCU. Most schools beat the drums instead of playing them like a true musician should....You called them on that CRAP and they're pissed

  • You sound like Mc Cain "My Friend" LOL

  • its good but not origanal if you look at a clip of nsu from the 80s you will see them do the same stick throwing routine.

  • please dont ever mention Nsu and originality in the same context ever again because Nsu plays the same things over and over again in their cadences. 2. everybody and their momma do the stick throw, so you cant say norfolk was the first school to do that because schools were doing that way before the 80's buddy

    Mr. Fantastic

  • Cadets 05 snares?

  • real nice....cant wait until im apart of that section...

  • this is some good stuff from cookman...as far as putting corps stuf in their routine...i would like to see more of it....

  • GOOD JOB!

  • GOOD JOB!

  • it was okay but why did i see two snare players dropping sticks..no excuse....

  • YOU SEE THEY KEPT ON PLAYING!!!

  • Finally Orey is implimenting some Corp ideas with the Highstepping show style. I thought this have been done years ago. I guess it took the right group and some development. Nice set, still a little dry. Too clone like. But thats BCC.
