Built by many men, given instructions via principles and winning games, preset with millions of won games (a computer plays you in reverse,,,as in, it sees the end and draws a line to your present position) or, in essence, a "live" book.
So, that Kasparov played the damned thing in the first place is a bit disheartening. It's a tool.
As for the next best and greatest?
Looks like Gefland gets a shot at Anand. (I think) but ...
@Mster Thanks for the comments! Interesting about how computers win, I didn't know that.
I think it was cool that Kasparov played Deep Blue. But then what do I know.
I've been hearing a buzz that a game called Go is way superior to chess. One article said that chess is strictly about tactics, whereas Go is about that and strategy. Here all this time I was going around almost boasting (even though I'm a weak player) that "chess is the greatest board game in the world." But GO I guess takes it.
@Darkonomist why do some internet people feel it is necessary to dump their anger on some making a comment (to the video, mind you) about some perspective they didn't see?
Better than THAT question...
It was interesting to see four different languages presented here.
@MisterBoneman Diversity of ethnicity does not mean diversity of thought, especially of sexual attitudes. You can't put all in one box. How can one family be united if the mother believes in hard-working commitment to spouse and children whereas husband believes in having fun looking at (and more) other women? That's one of many cases where diversity can f--k up people's lives.
@MisterBoneman According to some people's beliefs husband can have many women outside wife and I do not respect such beliefs.
Of course I understand you, but it is unbearable when - just because there's someone of the opposite sex in a video about CHESS - someone has to comment about that person of the opposite sex. For no bloody reason except to propagate his perception of attraction/libido.
I see videos, documentaries, etc. and there's always some idiot who has to comment about "hot chicks".
@Darkonomist Geez, Darkonomist. There are ass holes everywhere. If your mission is to waste your life chasing after them, good luck. You'll at least pull down one or two. OR (and it's meant with respect because I don't know you otherwise) You can lead by example. Which will alter MANY ass holes into wondering enough to actually change. I hope for the later, but then, I'm an optimistic pessimist... I know it's all going down the drain, But I always hope people will improve.
@MisterBoneman It is certainly a good idea to lead by example. I do that as well, but from time to time I feel people who do not change or take life too easily need a proper spanking - it works, especially if they do not expect it.
For example, yesterday night I was walking in a dark neighborhood and was approached by two drunk people who started making fun of my glasses and disability. I beat them up till they bled on the road. I think they will never touch people with glasses again :-)
Anand recently (December 2008) stated that his regret is that Kasparov retired too early and that he could not play him! What's that? Did Anand mean that the games they played don't count, or that he was not the real Anand during those games? Didn't they play for the title in 1995? Wasn't kasparov +4, Anand +1, 13 draws in that match? For the record, they played 69 games, Kasparov +23, Anand +8 and 38 draws. So, Anand what exactly you have to say to that!
Hahahaha so true! The truth is if Kasparov hadn't retired he would be PWNING everyone in the chess world still then Anand would be wishing he had retired!
xiangyik, that Anand would just wanna play Kasparov is fine. It's the manner he conveyed his message, at a press conference right after he beat Kramnik! Hence, inferring he is the world champion and was ready to whip Kasparov (too bad he retired too soon before I could get my strong hands on him) ...
Yeah Anand can at last be number one, now that Kasparov has retired. Because in the past he was more or less Gazza'a punching bag except on some rare occasions. Kasparov completely smashed him in PCA World Championship, and again and again over the years.
I have nothing against Kramnik, I just wish he'd run a comb through his hair and have somebody pluck out the unibrow. I don't understand how a chess player can make decent money and not polish his appearance. Anand looks dorky, but at least looks prepared. It shows on the board and off.
Anand is the great ambassador of chess. Reminding the world that chess is a truly international interest. Even his style of play could be considered 'civilized'.

So who was the GREATEST chess player of them all? AND, will there ever be a player that beats today's modern and best chess computer program(s)?
Thanks in advance for any and all of your friendly comments!!

@MisterBoneman I don't care. Sexual addicts must be exterminated from the world.
Darkonomist 7 months ago
@Darkonomist I don't really give a damn for your genocidal attitude.
The first video at your channel says diversity, and a proud country, yet, you demonstrate no tolerance for diverse thought.
Perhaps your was "just words", eh? Here, we admit the idiots into our society freely.
Bush junior, for example, actually made it to President of the U.S.
Never a truer example of hitleresque thinking than that. Or Reagan. Reagan is the American version of Kruschev.
All words, no works.

@Darkonomist husband is not husband if looking at other women.
The video is about a Chess match tat took place some time ago.
I am NOT offering a defense of some jack-ass's dumb comments about the background of the event.
(Look, you don't know me, I don't know you...
But the asshole mompog, deserves NO recognition at all. Can you see what I'm saying?)
How about you? I was amazed that, of the three speakers, one appears monolingual (if that's even a word) and HE is the World Chess Champion.
