  • Love ole willie and I love this song but my favorite version is Kris and Tricia Yearwood doing this at a memorial concert for Johnny Cash I think in '99

  • The older you get, the truer you begin to bleed. Even Johnny Cash.

  • When he sings "I'd smoked my brain the night before....What phrasing, Willie has a style and flavor.

  • There's always a lot to be said for the original version. But ya gotta dig the way Willie makes it so bluesy.

  • love Willie's version of this as much as Kristofferson's!! thanks for sharing

  • When i was younger i never liked sundays, but now simply loved my sundays even the sun looks diferent on a sunday morning....: )

  • This is real Honky-Tonk !

  • i am stoned

  • Jamey Johnson needs to cover this song and add his name to the legends that have done it.

  • I'm drunk and in love.

  • huh! u hav no idea how much i luv this version, i feel it in my soul! thx for havn it here! havn my sunday morning coffee remembering those days!

  • great but i love jerry lee lewis version better

  • Beautiful Willie! The first part made me smile...your cleanest dirty shirt.....thanks. You soothe my soul.

  • I bought this album back in 1980, and this song in particular was one that touched me because of where my life was at that time, so naturally this is my favorite cover of Kris's classic.

  • Willie Nelson is my hero some day i will shake his hand...hope ?

  • To me, this is a song about being hung over. Leaving an all night bar in South Beach Miami all fucked up. Yes it seems a bit sad but at the same time.. had a real good night......

  • I much prefer Willie's older version found at video ID: lpEckq1x0oQ. Thanks for sharing this though!

  • Never thought I would find a version that was this good.

  • Somehow I can't get over havinh Johnny Cash singing this song the first time. Although its a Kris Kristofferson song, I prefer Johnny Cash his version. He give's it the sad sad deminor it contains. All chalked up to personal preference ofcourse.

  • Fabulous track there's nothing much these days that could match the heart of country music keep it up guys very true to life music we can all relate to at some time

  • Thanks, it brings memories.

  • I thought this was a cash orginal but I cry harder when I hear willie sing it. Not that one of them has more soul than the other., its just 10x more real when another legend picks it out and tells the same sad, lonely story once again. the same one i lived every week for the past 20 years since my parents died and i have no place but home alone on sunday.

  • Young folks have evolved into frozen drones withs no soul or spirit all they do and worry about is Money and material things... so called smart phones, computers and video games, a new car every two tears, and their Music reflects that awful way of being and living!!! Sad... When we were coming up with this IRREPLACEBLE musicians, We didnt worry about wallstreet and wanting to be rich, just a good job and good friends and family around us to have good times aound... and our music reflects that!

  • @artetarima true but im young and like this music so there's a little hope :)

  • @sclark805 It's good to see Young folks like yourself liking ICONIC Musicians..... This music & Musicians are part of a great culture & tradition & I knw I was generalizing with the comment I made originally but the sad truth is, that the bulk of the youth today dont care much about their trditions and they want to be and act like something they are not. Thanks for your comments sclark805

  • cash , kristofferson, nelson, and jennings the highwaymen

  • Cash, Kristofferson and Nelson. And Jedward.

  • Both Kris and Willie keep it slow so they can interpret it in their own way--Johnny rushes through it like all his songs.

  • I've lived this song on so many sunday mornings

  • Fantastic, thanks for uploading, heard this for years when I was a kid, my parents loved both Johnny Cash & Willie, but I still think after 30 or more years, this version is superb....

  • Learning to play this on my guitar. It's actually quite easy, and rather fun as well.

  • As an Irish man this one brigs back painful memories of being denied ..

  • Kris does this best followed by Waylon and then Willie.

  • Johnny cash was better. But this is a great version too. Being the big cash amd Nelson fan.

  • I love willie but this is crappy.

  • Oh Rhonda, such a great post. I love this version by Mr. Nelson. The original by KK is great, but Willy Nelson has a way with his voice, makes me realy feel what he is singing about. A feeling I don't know from experience (thank God) but I can imagine the sadness behind it. Thanks for sharing, great job girl.

  • Remind me of a Kevin Bl0oody Wilson song which I think he may have borrowed.Cunny funt

  • I'm so glad you guys are enjoying this video I put up. Little did I know so many other people would be out there finding this and enjoying it. I'm so glad it continues to get views. Keep enjoying :)))) -rhonda (THEoBETHoSHOW)

  • Willie is my hero, and has been since I heard the story of how he sat under a treee, rolled a doobie, lit up and ploayed "Trigger" as he watched his house burn down. The only things he saved were that old guitar and the bag of weed he had just bought. Later, when someone asked why, with all the beautiful things he owned, why save the old guitar and the pot. His answer, Insurance couldn't replace "Trigger" and wouldn't replace the pot, everything else was insured. My Hero, Willie Nelson.

  • @CaptRhett1 Great anecdote, thanks for sharing, made me appreciate Mr. Nelson even more.

Every holiday we take, my Johnny and I are always singing "On the road again" out loud the moment we leave home and close the front door behind us and we smile to each other, eager to have good times.....

Singing a Willy Nelson song is a great way to begin a journey.

  • This song and Pilgrim #33 are the story of my life.

  • @MrRozow - The Creator is the only one with the power to help us. "Without help it is too much for us. But there is One who has all power. That One is God. May you find Him now!" ...from the Preamble in the Big Book.

  • thanks for the cover appreciate it., peace

  • thanks for the cover appreciate peace

  • Johnny Cash's version is my all-time favorite Johnny Cash moment!

  • I'VE SUNG THE CASH VERSION OF THIS SONG FOR 30 YEARS,NEXT TIME I SING IT WILL BE IN HAWAII ,TRYING TO GET THIS MUCH FEELING IN MY SOUL.ROY SMITH.

  • this is sooooooooooooooooooooooo true bin there love you all thats what counts

  • There is another version of this by willie,it's faster and has him and his unmistakeable guitar solo in it! I wish I could find it! Anyone know what I'm talking about?

  • This song runs through My head , I find Myself singing it as I'm walking, all the time . Johnny , Kris or even Willie ........ It just makes Me feel good !!!

  • Awesome version indeed but there's something about hearing it from the man who wrote it that makes Kris' version the best for me.

  • my friend and i drank all the time i love this song till an accident took his life but im sure he loves me playing this as he was my cousin 40 yr ol heartattack

  • Always thought Willie should do a version of this, just never knew it existed. Thank you friend.

  • I'm 15, and I don't understand why all music can't be like this?! This is pure and actual music. Not that crap they play on the radio now a days.

  • @TaylorandCiara1207 I am 12 and have realized this since I was out of diapers. Let's start a revolution!!

  • @TaylorandCiara1207

Have to agree with you there....though I don't know what American radio is like these days!

  • @TaylorandCiara1207 Hi T and C, I am 55 and the best I can tell you, like good people, good songs can't be voted down, shouted down, they just continue, after a while they get copied. I heard this originally in the late sixties, sung by Roy Clark, later I heard Johnny Cash sing it, another wonderful singer, and finally Willie Nelson. I shouldn't tell you this, but Willie can't Sing, but Willie doesn't know it, so he goes on making us feel good and bringing tears to our eyes. God bless!!!

  • @giannivee1 Lol uh Willie can sing. He is one of the greatest.

  • Best version I've heard. You just can't beat Willie. He just a gifted, tallented, nice guy. And, he will just have to live with it........God bless and Speed

  • Great ! Never knew Willie had his version of this song-This song brings back so many many memories for me (some happy, some sad) - Have always loved Willie !!

  • Baby, these guy's are the wonder of the world. take a chill pill and have a good time baby

  • THAKS MAN BEAUTIFUL A VERISON FOR THE SOUL

  • Thanks for adding it bud, havn't heard Willy version but sounds amazing, so much heart, pain n soul from the old schoolers. My dad is a big Willy fan (not in that way lol) brings back the vibe when we're kids when music was real and not mass produced pop garbage

  • kaneland represent

  • great song and awesome comp pics great job!!

  • never heard this version thanks willie does it justice

  • this album told it all thanks great to know i aint the only one suckled the honey of it..thanks again its my favorite all time willie/kristofferson......

  • This whole album, every song, is awesome.

Kris Kristofferson is one of the greatest song writers who ever lived.

Nobody sings it better than Willie.

We play this at home all the time.

My kids love watching the vinyl go 'round.

  • Anyone who would remove this has something wrong with them!!

    Thanks!!

  • willie ROCKS and always will

  • this is real country music not the stuff they play now.

  • thanks for sharing...this is incredible

  • Thank you for the upload! Made my Night :)

  • Willie is fabulous singing this as he is just perfection anyway

    Muriel xxx

  • i consider myself fortunate to have 'sings kristofferson on vinyl

  • I absolutely love Willie's version of this Kristofferson song. Kris did an awesome job, but I'm a Willie die-hard fan.

  • @RossKeyCountry yes for sure, this 33 rpm, i am sure is original is the best.; Wish they would distribute it on CD. But, guess not enough true fans of this type of music to see it happen. Anyway of taking an LP and c onverting it to C D? Man, if so , let me know i will buy one for sure.

  • thank you, i have been looking for this for years. Used to have the cassette "Willie Nelson sings Kristoferson" . It is long gone now. Hope it stays up since i don't know how to copy it.

  • @ttosbt2010 if you use safari, go to activity in the top menus, and find the file that is the biggest, normally 3 - 9 MB, and double click it. it will download to your hard drive. then rename it to e.g- whateverthesongiscalled.flv

the .flv bit tells it to open with a flash video player (you may have to download 1 or get a plugin for your quicktime, these are free if you look in the right places)

    happy listening :-)
