  • so i'd like to know... I ride park mostly, both jumps and rails ,but if there is powder, part just doesn't exist anymore.... so should i buy a jib rocker or an allmnt. freestyle rocker?

  • what are the best brands for jib rocker boards?

  • Reverse camber, freestyle camber, Camber all the way

  • love your vids. greetings from germany

  • I just started snowboarding this year and only do park. I love rails and do jumps every so often what type of board would be great for me?

  • @MegaSoccerkid17 Jib rocker, or maybe chamber

  • I've been snowboarding for about 6 years now and I love to just have fun on the hill and try not to kill myself on huge jumps. So what board would you guy's recommend?

  • how about a rocker ez v the new burton TWC for a new rider on the east cost ???

  • Nicely informative vid. Thanks!

  • i like riding jibs, jumps, and just cruising down the mountain, would the burton fly V be good for all that?

  • v - rocker all the way (:

  • i have a new burton custom 2011. Do u know if the edges need to be detuned for jibbing and freestyle riding? do the nose and tail need to be detuned?

  • @danielpb10 bro its usually best to detune the board so you don't catch an edge while buttering or an sort of flat spin trick, ecspacially if it is brand new and is factory sharpened. Some boards sometimes come detuned already, so you might not have to.

  • whats the best for a freerider .. i like riding undergrowth and trails .. i mainly freeride ?? so what doo you think ?? .. i think i must take all mountain snowboard..

i already got a rossignol angus 2010 ,, what doo you think about this board ?? is it good for me or not ??

  • That jacket is sweet, what kind is it ? (brand)

  • Gullwing rocker in Nitro Addict. What the hell is that? :D Could you tell me what is its specification?

  • I want a board with "Performance Rocker" but every company calls it something different and it's literally impossible to find. Plus Burton refuses to make a true twin with this rocker/camber combination.

  • I want to start riding in the park. i am going to be a jibber. i was told the signal park camber is really good for that. then i was told that it isnt stable for the double diamond runs. is that true? and ill most likely get the union force bindings, and burton snow boots. i need your opinion on the park camber for double diamond please!

  • What bindings would suit a Skate Banana? It's an All-Mountain board, so I'm looking for similar all-around bindings. Thanks!

  • KiD CuDi background music made this video

  • hey i have watched alot of your videos and firstly i just wanted to say thank you it has helped soo much. and secondly i wanted to ask, i have been snowboarding 4 times now and would say i am ok and i have been renting boards so far, and i would quite like to buy a board as i would wanna get into snowboarding seriosly and i was wondering what baord would be best to help stopp catching edges and help to improve my performance? thanks in advance man :D

  • whats v rocker

  • Hey I'm getting pretty good and serious about boarding, and I mainly only ride park both rails and jumps. What type is best for freestyle riding in the park like that?

  • @hulk8batman - a Soft Camber board or a Jib Style Rocker could be great choices for you.

  • @sierrasnowboard hi I'm a beginner of riding snowboards and I want to buy a rome sds mod rocker 156cm....and I want to do freestyle should I buy this board?

    ps: sorry for my english

  • V-Rocker not V-Rocket sorry lol mistype

  • Been out only 4 times but want to buy a new board over summer now that I know how much fun this is. I will mostly be on groomers at copper, winter park and keystone. I am taking a good look at the Burton Process V-Rocket with Custom EST bindings. Is this a good choice?

  • @DoubleZebras - Good choice for sure!

  • what board should i get if i only board the park

  • @Ryloveland11 - Depends if you are a jibber or a jumper.

  • Awesome video.

What category would you consider the Prorize Rocker on the Ride Kink to fall under?

  • @DeCostable - Jib Rocker

  • Ok thanks

  • What company's make performance rocker boards?

  • @loganszabadi - Most do, they just all call them something different; Hybrids, Flying V, C2BTX and so on.

  • Would a Rome artifact rocker be good for powder riding?

  • @olNestlelo - It is fun in the powder, but more for riding rails.

  • i go boarding every week january-early april and an expierenced snowboarder. i want to put more time in the park while still being able to carve downn the mountain. what would you reccomend.

  • @loganszabadi - Go with a performance Rocker Board, also known as a Hybrid.

  • i have a slim cut skate banana and theres the normal one, whats the different between them besides them being slimmer.

  • @LlamaKing123456789 - Nothing, the slimmer board will be quicker to an edge and is designed for riders with smaller boots.

  • So what would a 2008 Forum Youngblood be considered? An All MTN Freestyle Rocker?

  • @paintedd - Youngblood would be a bit more towards the jib specific board.

  • @sierrasnowboard Oh okay, thanks for the response. :)

  • Get a Forum Honeypot! Best of both worlds! COMBO PLATTER!!!!!

  • TBT!

  • is the sierra reverse crew an all mountain rocker board?

  • @Kattywampus999 - Yes it is a mic between the Custom V and the Process V.

  • 2:06 burtons banana tech? yea exactly. v rocker= stolen banana

  • @jon1151 - Not quite, but there are some similarities.

  • kid cudi!!!!!!

  • kid cudi, good choice

  • what would a catch free rocker be good for?

  • so if i want to ride pretty much in all areas of the mountain (no backcountry) but still be able to hit some big jumps and rails but be able to cruise fast, would a rocker be good or camber?

  • @barnboy15 - Go with a Camber or a performance rocker.

  • So if i ride the pipe a lot but do the park sometimes would you recommend the camber

  • Comment removed

  • @ryffrider i ended up getting the twc pro (shaun whites board) its also a camber and thanks for the help

  • Comment removed

  • @ryffrider - Thanks for sharing your study. I feel that if brings support to why the different press shapes fit into the categories that they do within the Rocker & Camber Guide Video.

  • @ryffrider - You should post a Thread to Sierra Snowboard. The YouTube comments are not the ideal place for such in depth posts such as this.

  • For jumps and some rails. Camber?

  • @azqplokm - Camber with a softer flex.

  • @azqplokm A Camber with good flex can do anything that's why there used by a lot of us 'pro guys'.. lol

  • Hey what kind of camber does the arbor westmark have ?

  • @TheOlyboarder21 - It has Arbor's Park System Rocker.

  • i want a performance rocker mentioned at 2:12

  • I'm looking at buying a Rome Machine 157. It is a camber to my understanding. So I was just wondering, will this still be a good park board for jumps and rails as well as some occasional mountain riding (not back country)?

  • @thatPUNKdude - The Machine is a great board for the larger footed rider. Camber boards are good all over the hill.

  • @sierrasnowboard YEah. I have about a size 11.5 boot so that's why I'm really liking the Machine.

  • @thatPUNKdude - It is not the softest board for jibbing but will shine on Jumps and All Mountain Riding.

  • hey for the performance rockers i noticed the rome one at the signal 1 are a different than the others, anyone mind explaining the difference for me?

  • @BoardingSports - Check out our Rocker Article on Sierra Snowboard.

  • what does ride dh2s have?

  • @tcullen777 - Jib Rocker - Flat from insert to insert and rockered at the tip and tail.

  • @sierrasnowboard I rode a ride dh2 151 late last year and whilst it had rocker outside the bindings as described I was sure it had some camber between the feet. The edges on the mid section of the board (between the feet) (about a half of that length of the edge) was definetly lifted up and off contact on any flat table surface, also the rental guy said it had both camber and rocker.

  • @sierrasnowboard I know everywhere else it is described as your Jib rocker, but I know what I saw, I guess I should have looked even closer, prehaps along the longitude of the board the base in the mid section is in contact with the ground and the edges are curled up? Also it had the graphics of the 155 model and I was riding the 151, could it be that it was a demo or prototype model?

  • @BladeEdgeRider - I am really not sure.

  • Hey im an intermidiate rider looking for the perfect setup for next season and I was wondering what type of board I should get. Im in the park most of time but I carve up to a black when I feel like it . I also want to learn how to ride pipe. Which board would be perfect for this. I weigh 100 pounds and im 5'4 and I wear a 9.5 boot but I could grow at any moment lol. I was also wonder which type of rocker/camber I should get. Thanks so much! Please respond!

  • @Iripintoit - Maybe look for a board around the 152 range that has a performance rocker.

  • GNU strret series has got libtech's banana design, so it is

    all. mtn freestyle rocker?

  • That is what category the boards rocker lands, meaning that is great for jibbing all over the hill do to its press shape.

The other construction aspects of the boards constructions make it more of an urban board.

  • will it handle some pow and speed?

so just everything u can encounter on the hill.

ofcourse not freeride or something like that. just some backcountry with pow

  • It will handle is well, just not quite as stable at high speeds as some of the other BTX boards.

  • is it more fun in the park and buttering around as skate banana?

heard those are exactly the same boards, just gnu is a bit softer.

whats about pop? is it there or is it a wet noodle?

  • It has a bit of pop but not quite as much.

  • so if bdr does pow due to the rocker, so should artifact 1985 and dominant with p-rocker do the same. coz they all got jibrockers.

    is it true?^^

  • Yes, they will all float in the powder due to the Job Rocker Design.

  • what is DC BDR?

  • BDR is bender done right, its pretty much the same thing as zero camber.

  • The DC BRD (Bender Done Right) is actually a type of Jib Rocker.

It is zero camber between the feet and then kicked up (rockered) outside of the bindings. Similar to the Capita FK.

  • So what category would you put the new Rad-Air Tanker in? The All. mn. frestyle rocker?

  • The Tanker has a progressive continuos rocker.

It does fit into the All Mountain Freestyle Rocker Category, but with the other aspects of the board taken into account, the board its self fits better in the freeride and powder board category.

  • You should mention boards with raised edges. Meaning boards that are not flat along the width. For example, Mervin Banana tech, Burton scoop nose or boards by Bataleon. Also should mention that camber boards ollie the best.

  • Though, should add... GREAT VID. I knew there were a bunch of types but never really classified them.

  • Great video however I still have the same questions on my mind that has to do with performace rocker.

Ive been really interested in riding/buying the Lib tech Dark Series and Travis Rice boards which has Rocker in the mid section and camber under the inserts.

However recently I have been riding the Ride DH2 which is like some of the other boards shown in this video which it is much the opposite: it has some camber between the feet and Rocker outside the inserts.

  • So my question is what is the performance difference between these.

There needs to be a sub-catagory to "Performance Rocker" to distinguish this.

I would call it "Rocker Cambered" and "Camber Rockered".

The 1st part indicating whats between the feet or in the middle of the board as it has traditionly been done so, and the 2nd part of the name to indicate the added camber type for that extra performace.

  • The reason it is called Performance Rocker is that the camber in these boards does not make the boards Cambered boards, they are still very much so Rockered. (So the Camber Rockered title does not work.)

The Camber adds performance to the Rocker shape.

Yes we will defiantly work on getting some vids up that better break down the performance difference from one brands technology to the others.

Thanks so much for all your input.

  • The DH2 is a Jib Rocker. Flat press from inserts to insert and rocker only at the nose and tail areas of the board, no camber.

  • Bellilllllllllllllllllllllll!!!

  • thanks for making this vid, it really helps me out

    mathieu

  • my burton custom 2009 sucks at parks, and it's really hard to butter on it. :(

  • dude that's a shitty deck. it used to be great but now it's hard as a freaking steel beam and still labeled as a park deck...good job burton

  • The Custom has always been an All Mountain board, not a park board.

The new 2010 Custom V-Rocker is great for those riders that want a softer Custom that is great for butters.

  • great video answered a lot of questions

  • bomb video

  • nice video

  • 0:05 Damn...
