first: the burial rite in jews follows the egyptian mumifing rules

second: there is a verse that says that the part of cloth that covered the face was separeted from the part the covered the body

1st)- Burial rites of the Jews at the time of Jesus were a simple shroud covering the body.

This was a reform done by Gamaliel (I think that was his name) who was a religious leader not too far from Jesus' day.

Rich folk so adorned their deaths that there was a religious injunction against it.

The simple shroud was the expression of this injunction.

Secondly, the second cloth that covered the face was a cloth used to cover the blood which escaped from the noses etc. (blood was considered unclean by the jews).

This cloth is considered to be the Sudarium of Oviedo.

Jews were wrapped in a shroud until they decayed then their bones were removed and placed in ossuary boxes. The Bible does indeed record a seperate face cloth for Christ. It is called the Sudarium and is still in existence today. Though I do not know the validity of the claim, some say the blood on the shroud matches the blood on the Sudarium.

I think the Shroud of Turin was a burial cloth for a person that was indeed crucified, but not Jesus. There are are several Scriptures that prove that the Shroud of Turin is not Jesus' burial cloth.
