  • How does the catheter feel?

  • @sensboy1 Most of the time I didn't notice the catheter. You get used to it pretty fast. I'm not sure how it is for women, but for men, if your penis gets even a little bit hard, like when sleeping, then it's EXTREMELY annoying, but not painful.

When the catheter is removed it hurts slightly. You can feel that tube being pulled out, and the mental image of that piece of plastic inside you now coming out of a sensitive area is what makes the feeling worse.

  • I have been thru alot of the same things as you. I have Crohn's Disease. I go in on the 20th of July to take down my 3rd ileostomy. I also have a J-Pouch. Would you be willing to chat via email? I don't know many ppl that have the same kind of things going on as I do. Not my age or anywhere close to it anyhow. It would be fantastic to talk to you. Please let me know. :)

  • @WowChxPwn Hi, just send me an email at Dennis@UCVlog.com

  • In this video did you have a catheter

  • @sensboy1 Yes, I believe I did for 2 days.

  • @UCVlog ok

  • @sensboy1 Yes, for two days I believe. Very annoying, but you get used to it.

  • I have cronic UC and tried all medications possible that are approved as of now and have not worked for 8 yrs. Now my specialist at Mayo wants me to either try to get approved for Humira and this tues. am talking to a surgeon. A huge decision I will face soon. Thanks for the post and sharing your experiences!

  • Thanks for sharing, I admire you courage! I have surgery June 8th and I'm not looking forward to it. Thanks for the information and the lessons they will come in handy. God Bless You, Eva

  • Hi, I respect what you are doing and keep us informed. I was diagnosed with rectal cancer and next week I will know if it has spread and my question to you is how does wearing your J Pouch affect your dating life? I don't know if I want to wear one for the rest of my life, but I figure it's hard to find a woman who will accept a man wearing a J pouch. Also, was your whole large intestine removed and do you have to wear the J Pouch for the rest of your life?

  • @HERE2TOSSyourSALAD You got two things mixed up here. The external bag is called an ostomy. I had that for six months, then I had an INTERNAL pouch created, which is also called a J-pouch, because that's the shape the intestines made.

So my ostomy is gone. Some people have it permanently, and believe it or not, some people choose to have it permanently. As long as you are confident with it and yourself, women should respect that. If not, leave em be. They aren't worth it then.

  • im having it done on thursday 28 jan after 4 years off hell.

    ~Dennis

  • I wish you all the best dude. Take CAre.

  • Hey. I have UC, and are talking to my doc bout it on tuesday, what are qualifications for an ileostomy

  • Hi, surgery becomes an option when it is impossible to control your colitis with medicine alone. If you've been in a flare up for awhile and you've tried all the medicine options, then surgery is worth looking at.

Basically, the decision to have surgery is based on how soon you want to get control of your life back.

  • wish you ONLY THE BEST OF RECOVERY and normal life

  • Thanks for the update. Hope all goes well.

I will be looking forward to more of your updates.
