Well, I've lived in Northern Germany, Northern East Germany and Southern East Germany and I've never seen anyone wear "Lederhosen". I've only seen them in Bayern (Bavaria) and I think it's stupid that the whole world thinks that those are the only traditional German clothes and everyone would still wear them. Germans dress like all other Europeans too. If they just stood in front of you without saying something you couldn't tell a German from a French, Danish or Belgian person...
Offenbach was born in Cologne (Germany) but was French by parentage and ended up there. You see there is either a lot of clever marketing "punnery" going on here or (probably) a British advertising agency who have watched too much 'Allo 'Allo.
Is there no English word for Lederhosen? Do you like the German language? We've developed such beautiful words as Kindergarten, Kleinigkeit, Angst and Autobahn (without Tempolimit).
Leather shorts would be the best translation... Lederhosen sounds better and is what the are traditionally called. And yes... I like the German language.
The song and dress the woman is wearing is actually French, and most well known as the CanCan dance. It's the Lederhosen she's wearing underneath that's the German part. Which is probably very similar to the Citroën C5. ;)
And the funny thing about the CanCan music is that it's written by Jacques Offenbach, Offenback being a German name, we even have a city named Offenbach.
They look great on women, fruity on men. Go figure. *smirk*

Only the Bavarian wear leather shorts. There ist no one from north Germany, who wear Bavarian shorts!

In a way, the new C5 is turning the world upside down...
french song, german lederhosen, french song written by a german, a german-car-like french car, a french dress.
Ohje! Aber schönes Auto!
If the C5 can beat the new A4? It won't be that easy...
