  • @CycleNH a little over 8 inches. Hope this helps.

  • I got one of these on order. i am looking forward to it. I vote chicken and pork

  • Never tried a pressure cooker before. I heard great things about them :)

  • How about some of those squirrels that you dislike so much.. if you leave one in a jar at your front door it might give the others the idea to stay away :) No! I'm just kidding. I LOVE squirrels... in fact i'm disappointed in myself for even saying it... but you might like it :) i really WANT to do 'canning' but i don't grow enough produce yet to warrant it, nor the cupboard space to fit it..

  • @Watsamadoing LOL Karen. First I would have to catch one. My brother use to hunt squirrels. I would never eat anything he made unless I saw him take it out of the package and cook it. I never liked the try this, tell me what you think....

  • Excellent!

  • @rileyphillip Thank You Phillip

  • Nice. I got my first one a few months ago. Don't have a guage. Wish it did. But I got mine because I was attempting plant tissue culture. It didn't go well. But I use it without the lid to boil up to 36 eggs at a time. I'd love to use it for canning sometime but I don't grow enough for that. I say you should make pickles. That seems like what everyone does and might be easy.

  • Woohoo! I am sooo excited for you! I just opened mine. First thing i did in it was meat. Easy!!! I read my instructions but found them lacking. Yanked out some vintage cook books, checked youtube & my modern-day canning book and went for it. I can't wait for your video.

  • Can you can a can? LOL I just had to say that.

  • Congrats on the canner! The first thing I ever learned to can was green beans. Very easy and very tasty! Keep us posted on what you can. It will become an addiction...Well, maybe not an addiction, but you will save a lot of money and home canned stuff is sooo much better than store bought!

  • @jwlrymkr Thanks.

  • Great, how fun. Seems like some kind of veggie would easiest, what do you have left from your garden?

  • @loislaney23 Lettuce. LOL Vegetables does sound like a good ideal for my 1st time. Carrots!

  • some kind of soup would be great to can.

PS I bought a canner at a garage sale many years ago. It was BRAND NEW. The owner put it together wrong and got scared and didn't want to use it again. I win.

  • @brendahere I put mine together wrong the 1st time. Which is why I was doing a test run. You do win finding a brand new pressur canner at a garage sale.

  • Congratulations on your new canner! It's super easy once you get the hang of it! The very first thing I canned in my pressure canner was carrots and then I did corn. Both are super easy. Just prepare your jars, heat your canner w 2" water and some vineagar, blanch your veg, pack into jars and process carrots: pints-25min., quarts-30min...corn: pints:55min. quarts:1:25 at whatever pressure according to your altitude. Good luck! Can't wait to see your progress!!!

  • @kaytebobayte Thank you Im getting some good ideals of what to can.

  • OOOOoohhhh Awesome!

What a coincidence I saw a 16 qt Presto pressure canner at Walmart (this one had just the weight, not the dial gauge). I was planning to go pick it up Thursday, to can this weekend. When I saw you are also jumping into the pressure canning too I thought, "oh cool!" lol

    Its so much fun!

It will be interesting to see the suggestions you get! I'll be tuning in!

Hope you do a video on your first pressure canning! :-)

Good luck!! Its fun to try new things!

    :-D

  • @gardenvespers777 Yes I will do a video on my 1st canning adventure. Hope you do the same.

  • Woohoo, canning fool!!! I like that canner. Can't wait to get me one someday!

  • @MyDaddysgirl44 I think Walmart is starting to get some in. You can always put one on Lawaway. :-)

  • I'm jealous. That's next on my list, the pressure canner.

  • @chicagocindybuddie I hope you do some videos when you get one. They are under $70 for the 23 Qt. Maybe less.

  • I have exactly the same unit. Where they really are nice is in working with meats, or things like soups or sauces that contain meat. You can use tough cuts of meat but after being canned it will be tender.

  • @logcabinlooms That is good to know. It says in the Instruction book it cooks food one third to one tenth the time it takes to cook food the conventional way.

  • canned beans!

  • @paradoxdesigns Can you cook froozen beans in the canner? Im going to plant beans next year for sure.

  • @Allen2045 i was thinking green beans.. or scarlet runners or something. did ya grow any of those?

  • @paradoxdesigns The beans that I did manage to grow I ate. The last dozen or so I rinced off and ate raw LOL.

  • Good looking canner I've never used a pressure canner. I'll be interested to seed what you do.

  • @dalecalder2003 I have never used one either. I will learn as I can I guess.

  • Check out Rage340 he did a good video series on strawberry preserves when he sent me my canner Paula. Great recipe and videos too. Take care.

  • @minbound I went over and subscribed to his channel. Thanks.

  • ¡Great vid!

  • @greatwf Thank you Sir.....
