I started out bowling at an 80's style center years ago (which I feel is cool in it's own way) but always loved going to the 52 lane center based on these products of the late 50's. That house is sadly gone now but I won't ever forget the ocularly joyous vintage.
Ahh man, my local bowling alley WAS a carbon copy of this in mint shape, I loved it. Then the bastards sold it and made it "modern" with all that cosmic shit and handy cap accessible seating, what fucking shame.
Man I work at an alley and agree with you, except for the accessible seating - caps like to bowl too! That "Laser Bowl" shit made me request Saturday nights off, if I want to work at a haunted house or rave I'll go to Spencers.
it is a shame that they replaced the mint vintage equipment with new. They could still have cosmic bowling with vintage equipment. I especially like the vintage masking units.
Compared to the crap they sell today, this was awesome! It cracks me up to see how many "new" or remodeled centers have an bunch of antique A-2's working behind the ugly cardboard masking.
I think it's funny how the only bowler in this video who looks somewhat competent is the man. The woman gets a foul, the daughter isn't seen, and the kid fall on his face. 1950's gender profiling at it's finest.
hmm..how sad..shows how old the bowling alley I work at is...has the same seating, same ball return (in-line)....yupp....about the only thing thats new there is the automatic scoring...which also still sucks..:-\
The woman fouls and she smiles LOL!

Man, my bowling alley has these exact type of equipment still. But we're looking to modernize a bit and at least get automatic scoring.
