From what I've heard at work from local firemen (I work at a retail store in Conway) it was a brush fire intended to stimulate the underbrush or something, man made, was supposed to be a small controlled thing, and it just SHOT AWAY and went like it did. Sucks hard.. ironic as hell.. sadness.

its the 28th now and i can still smell smoke up on 44th N its crazy. That first night tho the flames looked insane the night sky was bright red.

man we got evacuated from ocean bay middle school thursday it was bad

approximently 20,000 acres! this was something no one thought would ever happen here. the smoke was//is outrageous.

thank you for posting this i used to live in n. myrtle, myrtle, & cherry grove. I have a few friends that still live there and i have only been able to reach one of them. it gives some perspective even though, i can't get in touch with them. stay safe.

how did this all start i just reliazed that this happened?? and for all those workers and firemen thank u for helping! this is just plain crzy though this fire out of control

well i live in myrtle beach and the firefighters had put a fire out about a week ago that they thought was out but rekindled and caught the woods on fire. the first fire started with an illegal burning in a guys back yard and that caught his house on fire. and rekindled.
