One's income has nothing to do with how good of a father they are. Unemplyoyment doesn't make you irresponsible. Rather, being irresponsible can cause you to be unemployed.
A good father doesn't make excuses for not being there for their children. Being a good father is about positively impacting the life of the child by being there to show their love and to teach them important life lessons. Just being able to pay child support isn't cutting it.

The Biggest problem in the Black community I think, aside from poverty and unemployment, is the poor educational performance by so many of our youth. Black Parents do not nearly read to their children enough- we need to put down the Xbox and T.V and Rap Music and have our kids do their homework and READ READ READ to them. Having a better educated black youth will see a decline in crime and more empowerment in our communities.

Statistically Africans are more prone to be violent, but because of that they are also prone to unfair discrimination. I know that b/c there are so many more single mothers that they are going to get much of the attention, but I think that single fathers deserve WAY more attention and should get more support. A good father doesn't make excuses for not being there for their children. Being a good father is about positively impacting the life of the child by being there to show their love and to teach them important life lessons. Just being able to pay child support isn't cutting it.

I encourage everyone to read the book "Myth of the Missing Black Father" by Dr. Roberta Coles and Sean Green. They thoroughly discredit the myth that young black men dont take care of their children. In fact they reveal that nonresidential black men are MORE likely to take care of their children than any other race. In other words there are alot of deadbeat dads who are NOT black. The Biggest problem in the Black community I think, aside from poverty and unemployment, is the poor educational performance by so many of our youth. Black Parents do not nearly read to their children enough- we need to put down the Xbox and T.V and Rap Music and have our kids do their homework and READ READ READ to them. Having a better educated black youth will see a decline in crime and more empowerment in our communities.

I personally know someone who fits all that criteria. They are a loving parent and it pains them each day that their child's other parent gets away with something worse than murder because the courts completely side with them. The system is neither just nor logical. It is about money, hatred and discrimination.

Not everyone who would like to raise their own kid/s is allowed to. Some people have psychotic exes that would try to kill or physically injure them. Some people have exes that would jump ship and run to another state if they found out that parent was anywhere near their child, even if they did nothing wrong, even if they themselves were unfit parents. Some people have visitation rights but not the thousands to TRY to enforce them in court.

I have a friend who may have been jailed this past Monday because although he is currently paying his child support, the judge nonetheless wants to put him n jail due to the arrears! While young blacks are have lots of babies out of wedlock and depend of social welfare, the white people are more likely to have an abortion. Obama made a speech about FATHERS on FATHER'S DAY, I don't know why people think this has to be a conspiracy. Stop getting caught up in the way he chose to dilver the speech and listen to the message. There is a problem in America, no matter the race, with fathers taking care of kids, and MEN (All races) need to step up and be men and take care of their kids. May not be most prevelant in Black community, but it still exist and needs to be addressed.

Obama didn't make a speech on mothers day (at least not to my knowledge), but if he had mad a speech on mothers day, I would put $100 to a donut that the speech would pertain to MOTHERS. Obama, felt like this was something he wanted to address, and he addressed it. My point is that it doesn't have to be a conspiracy everytime, and people shouldn't get caught up in how or when he addressed the issue, but listen to his message on the issue.

Because most black people knows its common knowledge in their community. Quite blaming others for you being a bad father. I'm black and i haven't had a problem with getting work or education. I make GREAT money because I was determined and not lazy and didn't make excuses. I wish they would quite feeling sorry for the ones who have children and abandon them, and start making them suffer for there actions. And maybe that wll wake up the majority to take responsibility.
