Australian oceanic researchers have quite alot to say about this.....
the ocean is a sponge, and can hold more CO2, but what happens when the threshold hits, and it cant hold no more, (by then the ocean would have changed PH)
After initializing and parameterizing hundreds of unknown factors, inserting divergent proxy data and ignoring any difficult natural forcing factors, we ran hundreds of simulations until we obtained the results we wanted–an ensemble of meaningless projected results, which we then averaged. We homogenized, adjusted and used the liberally unprincipled component method, and produced a new set of hockey sticks, giving a very robust prediction (>90% likelihood) that we are all being totally screwed
The CO2 arguments are as futile as a turtle climbing a tree. Climate change is BIG business and scientific models had better include scenarios which guarantee next years budgets. Just follow the money. Let's face it, you're not going to get funding by saying everything's fine now are you?
only 5 that's right 5 of those 1500 IPCC scientists were willing to sign or put their name to the latest IPCC Report!!!! at 3:50 Clark says "You can't say that CO2 will drive climate, it certainly never did in the past."
What does "past" climate change have to do with whether CO2 can drive climate? Certainly other phenomenon have induced climate change in the past, but so what? IF CO2 increase can trap sufficient additional heat, you're going to get climate change. Disregarding CO2 simply because past changes weren't initiated by it is simply idiotic.
@fusedchromosome Watch the documentary all the way to the end. It explains how CO2 changes occur after temperature changes which is immediately preceded by variations in sunspots. Sunspots correlate and - more importantly - precede temperature change throughout history.
I'm well aware of temp usually leading CO2. That's to be expected. My point was that you can't use that to "assert" that CO2 couldn't lead temp, which is what those two bozos did. The fact that CO2 is transparent to incoming solar radiation and not outgoing infrared means that it will tend to raise temp, i.e. CO2 can lead temp. It's a positive feedback loop. The only "real" question is: is it capable of producing significant changes in temp?
P2) It's basic physics. Also, you should read up on the Paleocene Eocene Thermal Maximum in which CO2 lead temp. You can also watch Durkin getting grilled on all the goofs he had to correct. His attention to accuracy and intellectual honesty was sub-par at best.
at 0:49 he says "If the CO2 increases in the atmosphere... then the temperature will go up, but the ice core record shows exactly the opposite. So the most fundamental assumption of the whole theory of climate change due to humans is shown to be wrong."
That assertion is the epitome of stupid. Just because ice cores show past natural processes causing temp increase followed by CO2 increase does not automatically negate whether CO2 increase can cause temp to rise. He's a dipshit.
@silverorange1000 It's always going to be about what you think. It's not only happened once that certain ideas have been used for frightening ideology. Money isn't evil, but living for money certainly is. I can't relate to anyone who tries to convince me it's perfectly reasonable to deal with/sell representations of a representation of exchange of commodities. Capitalism is a misapprehension of how money works. Call Marx a lunatic, I think it actually makes sense...
At the same time, there's many humans out there who are mere commodities, their only function is to produce what makes human progress possible. And they die early, just like factory workers did 150 years ago. Also, fossil fuels will become less availabe; firstly because over time they will just be used up and more importantly because human civilization keeps growing. There has to be an alternative. And I certainly don't think that nuclear power is an option, either.
The only real problem I have is that the documentary partly tries to justify capitalism and globalization, disguising it as innocent human progress. I don't buy that. I don't believe it's a good or justifiable thing. It's pretty ironic that many people are concerned about people living in third world countries because they will die through in-door smoke because they have no electricity.
This will be interesting. "Other culprits, according to the film, are Western environmentalists promoting expensive solar and wind power over cheap fossil fuels in Africa, resulting in African countries being held back from industrialising." Yeah, they better industrialise....... Hum... Main reason, nothing to do with other countries exploiting their labour force... A good book to check out is "The World Without Us", it's rather asking what if we disappeared? Interesting ideas...
This is just another LIE on top of the lie of global warming, this SHOULD NOT COVER OUR EYES AND EARS! Consumerism and Government want us to be stupid, we should not be in "THE AGE OF STUPID". We gota realise how many waste we are producing and how much we are taking from our planet without giving a mercy to it, WE ARE DESTROYING OUR PLANET!!!
PLEASE GO GREEN, and fight against MONEY MONSTERS !!! This film use facts to make us believe, scientists are not the truth. THINK PEOPLE! use ur heads!
I don't feel like watching over an hours worth of what seems like denier ho hum. It is quite obvious that adding the 100 or so CUBIC miles of oil and coal will add significantly to the CO2 count (as also observed). It is also obvious that that is still just about 1/10,000th extra added to the air, thus why it is easy to understand why "nobody" believes in GW.
So b4 you say it ain't true, please tell me how CO2 IS NOT opaque to infrared (or if that amount is indeed too trivial).
There's two things to keep apart in this debate. The effect of CO2, be what it may, is one... the pollution/destruction of the environment by all the other crap released a complete different story. Just look at natural gas. The burning of the gas might be a 'clean' fuel, but the extraction by fracking is not. Nothing is worth the poisoning and destruction of the very world we live in and are dependent on for our survival.
"Scared? It's not true" *yawns* Tell me something I don't know. This is nothing new. I'm not trying to act like a know-it-all but anyone who is not easily fooled by silly news reports knows that the whole global warming thing is just a scam. But thanks for informing the uninformed.
Wouldn't most of the CO2 be absorbed by plant-life before it reaches the atmosphere? Also if these mfs wanna do something about GW then maybe they should stop clearing forests and building malls, walmarts, and golf courses and plant more trees. What we exhale the plants inhale and vice versa. Sounds like a no brainer huh?

@bstnrdsxfrk I'm very tired of people "debunking" climate change and going full steam ahead with the destruction and pollution of the planet. Consumerism/capitalism is the problem. Anything short of dismantling the entire system is unacceptable. It will not work to reverse the damages we've already done. Most of it is hidden from the world. Dumping toxic wastes into areas no one habitates. Digging through the earth to get at the oil. Fracturing the earth to get at the natural gas.
@Kostly we're " Digging through the earth to get at the oil. Fracturing the earth to get at the natural gas". Are you kidding me? That's your reasoning for not using fossil fuels? The earth's crust is dynamic, and is broken all the time by faults, volcanoes, mountains, etc. And you quickly assume that I'm pro-pollution just because I don't believe in global warming? Of course I don't want pollution! No one does! I just realize that with an advanced society, some pollution is bound to happen.
@Kostly Its obvious your just some hippie environmentalists cloaking climate change and global warming by anthroprogenic carbon emmissions from your anti-capitalism agenda
@bstnrdsxfrk So anyone talking about staying with the status quo bothers me. That is what this video and the "debunkers" are seemingly saying with this video and comment thread. So for mindless consumerism to continue and it's necessary polllutive, take take take mentality, we must necessarily destroy the earth while we're at it. CO2 driven climate change is only a very small part of the larger problem, consumerism. We've been sold a bill of goods and we're eating the earth alive.
@Kostly You've watched the first 2 mins and developed an opinion. This is why people like you believe global warming is caused by humans, because you fail to listen to the science behind their argument.
@Kostly that's why there are 7 additional parts idiot. The first part of Docs almost always offer bits from the interview to get you excited. The full interview comes later.
CO2 is the focus of all of this? Come on, that is not the only driving factor here. MEthane is as well. The fact that year after year after year is getting warmer and warmer, and people come out with this bullshit?
@Kostly Since humans have been on this planet over the last some 30, 000 years it has only been since the boom of the Industrial Revolution that we finally looked at our impact on the Earth. The Industrial revolution was the hieght of anthroprogenic CO2 emmissions and was still cooler. Co2 doesnt cause global warming...Warm temperatures cause increases in Co2...Think about boiling water...the Oceans are saturated with Co2...we are in the shadow of our last glaciation and the Earth simply warms.
@sago334 There are things worse than greenhouse gases on the earth. I don't think that should be defended in the face of anthropogenic global warming. I think the point they are trying to make is that global warming is a marketing strategy. I don't think it's bad to consider there is such a thing as nature that it's necessary to preserve. I don't think that humans should die for the sake of alternative energies, but this doesn't mean it's ok to destroy our planet.
If we trust Al Gore, and he turns out to be wrong, or if we trust these people and they turned out to be wrong?

C02 levels in greenhouses are often times three times as concentrated as natural air. Short answer, no I don't believe there are any consequences to a 15% increase in c02, unless of course you consider plants and crops developing larger bio-mass and yielding more crop a "consequence".
More c02 = more plants grow larger
More plants grow larger = people worldwide can feed feed themselves easier
You thinking that's a bad thing = Proof that enviro-nuts like yourself are a hindrance to humanity.
@JovialEel That's really not a good argument dude, Plants can only absorb so much C02, it's like saying that if 1 vitamin tablet a day is good for me, then 100 a day must be 100 times as good. You could argue that they could grow in greater numbers, but they pretty much do everywhere they can. If a plant can grow in a location, then it will, but what with deforestation, industrialisation and intensive farming there are fewer and fewer places for them. It always comes back to us again.
@kebram Dense compared to what? Farming involves planting in nice neat rows with even spaces between the plants for easy access, it involves removing weeds, and with modern equipment you can get multiple harvests a year so they aren't even there for that long. Yeah, it's dense vegetation compared to an urban area but it's not exactly a forest is it.
@Beelzeboogie Certainly not dense compared to you but they are plants. Most CO2 is stored in the oceans and the tundra. When the air warms due to solar cycles (as it has since the beginning our our planet) it is released. Similar to leaving a cold coke sitting out. As it warms, it looses more CO2.
CO2 levels follow temp rises rather than preclude them. It is not a factor in climate change.
The biggest factor in CC is the solar wind and cosmic rays causing more/less clouds. Look it up.
@kebram Climate is indeed influenced by solar cycles, but to say that that is the only factor is to say that the chemical composition of the atmosphere at any given time is irrelevant, when of course it isn't.
Ahahaha anyway, "Dense compared to you", you may as well have said "I don't have a reply for that so i'll just call you an idiot" smooth.
THe humans are unfortunately destroying the world ... It might not be CO2. I think that CO2 is covering other stuff, destroying forests that we need to breathe, dumping nuclear and biochemical waste who knows where and such ...
@sargerasa i totally agree humans are greedy all they think about are themselves and m not gonna lie i wheni hve to with my mom to the store i pollute the air with coz but the factory which just release dirty chemical into the air that mess up they just release like nothing..MOTHER NATURE shouldnt be treated like this
People...don't listen to the 'skeptics' on this issue...they are simply oil company representatives planting this bullshit. Why would anyone purposely argue that we should use more energy rather than less...how can using less fossil fuels and more renewable energy be bad? Why would these people troll You Tube to write this bullshit all over the place? These 'made up' people posting on here just try to discredit the 'science' referring to oil company set-up critic websites.
The interesting thing is, they don't deny that the earth is warming, they just claim that its part of a "cycle".
The problem is that during some of these "cycles", the temperatures have been too high or low for mankind to exist, and last longer than humankind have walked the earth.
Hence, what they are saying is that the problem is actually worse than Al Gore makes it out to be.
However, I agree there is too much focus on CO2. Pavement and Particulate matter are big factors.
well done for posting this. people need to know whats going on. After watching this, please watch 'john moore - what the government is not telling you about global warming' to find out why its a swindle.
