hey, that's pretty cool. There arn't many of those instrumental stations around any more. What is on 95.5 in your area now, and who was that talk show host that was on for a minute there?X
I don't have any from when I was little like this... but I have some radio recordings and audio I found on some of my dad's cassettes and aunt's reel to reels. One was an early 70s cassette recording of WDVE with Janis Joplin.
I wish I could say that I have something in the midst of all of the hours and hours worth of radio I recorded in the Detroit area as a kid, and not to mention all of the fooling around I used to do!
I think I got something like this from Swedish radio early 90's. I don't remember anything specific from 1988 though. I can remember lots of stuff, but I got so many happenings I remember without a date. For example a dream of a videogame cartridge for Sega master system destroyed my wooden railroad... I don't remember what year that was, but I remember the next day on the morning I ran to the living room to see if the railroad still was there. :D
B95.5 is actually now Adult Contemporary, which is very far from the traditional "easy listening" music these days! Most of those "Beautiful Music" stations disappeared by the late '80s, but we had one here in NJ which managed to hang on all the way until 1996. I have some recordings of it from just before it changed formats.
hahah ok, well I don't listen to that station anyway. that kind of music is so boring, I actually liked that music they were playing in 1988, except for the faulty record player it was actually pretty nice^^
Wow, I was only 2 at the time, but I do have some memories from that time period. I no longer have recordings from the 90s, but I do have 2nd hands ones 80s that I got at the flea market with good stuff on it. Right before Robert Plant, I heard a glimpse of Expose's "Let Me Be the One". I have that and Now and Zen on cassettes.
On second thought; I just reviewed some of my tapes and decided i dont want the whole internet hearing 10 year old me acting like an embarassing little fruitcake. I was embarassed as fuck listening to it myself.
And i dont have enough radio recordings to make a video, and most of them have extremely embarassing music in them. My taste in music has changed a lot.
Now i understand exactly how humiliated my mom was when she played her Bay City Rollers LPs for the first time in 30 years.
But then again it would be funny hearing a little kid using extreme language; basically every cuss word and racial slur is on that tape, coming from 10 year old me. LOL
Haha I swore alot too but a lot of it is embarrasing but some of what's on those tapes is funny as hell! I could be a very entertaining kid now when I listen to it I laugh my ass off XD

When I think summer '88, I think of the song "The Flame" by Cheap Trick. Kinda gay, huh.

Actually, at the beginning, it sounds like you taped over it, but the erase head didn't completely work.

Yeah I listen to the whole tape looking for clues as to what year it was and judging by the songs on the radio i'm pretty sure it was summer 1988 :D
