He was a great football coach but who knew back then that he would end up paying off NASCAR officials after his driver fucked up again for about the 50th time
im tired of hearing bout belicheat as da best coach ever...Gibbs 3 sbs with 3 different QBs..beichick...7 seasons coached in da NFL without Brady..results??? 5 losing seasons...and one playoff appearance...nuff said
And to think of the travesty Dan Snyder has brought to this once great team. Some say that teams go through cycles of greateness, but none have sunken to the depths of the Redskins especially those w/ 3.5 Super Bowl trophies in their cabinet. Dan, you want to "win at all costs" as you always belabor? Then sell your shares of the team and leave. Please. PLEASE. Thank you Joe.
I am go grateful to have been born in DC to grow up watching the greatness of Joe Gibbs and a cast of so many awesome and diverse players - Art Monk and his class, Joe Jacoby and the Hogs, Joe Theismann and his scrambling, John Riggins running people over, Dexter Manley plowing through O lines, the unstoppable counter trey, Gary Clark catching any bomb thrown by Mark Rypien, Alvin Walton and Wilber Marshall crunching ball carriers, and Darrell Green's burst to deflect passes. Love the Redskins
Great video. Thank you Joe for all those great years leading the Redskins with class and dignity. You are an inspiration of how a great leader should be. Hopefully, Mike Shanahan can lead us back to greatness. Hail To The Redskins !!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am a NY Giants fan, but I will say that Joe Gibbs was and is one classy guy! Nothing against Jim Zorn, but I do miss Joe on the sidelines all those Sundays. Three Super Bowl titles for the Redskins, (just like the Giants); a well-deserved member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame!
Great video. Everybody criticized Gibbs in his second stint as coach, but 2 out of 4 seasons, he got the team to the playoffs. I understood why he left, but I also felt like it was a setback the Redskins are still feeling. He knew how to lead.
@keytardan Yeah, I think just about everyone in the Washington media can eat some crow after seeing the past three years after Gibbs' left. The mere fact that during "Gibbs II" he coached the team to the playoffs twice and had a December record of 13-7 during that time is nothing short of a miracle considering the chumps he had on the field. It's been said a lot, but if he had a competent GM, the Skins could def. had seen more Super Bowl appearances.
The best coach in Redskins history. By far a class act. So sorry to see him leave the team but I think it was a different game the second time around. Players now are a bunch of premadonnas that don't play for the love of the game.
Joe Gibbs - One of the great men to show how God works in his life. Classy, Inspirational, Giving and Caring...and leaves his honor all to God. Us, Washington Redskin fans love you right back Joe!
I want to thank the coach for bringing the team back to the playoffs, both times with thrilling late-season pushes. I won't forget them, thanks for the memories Coach
I believe if Gibbs stayed one more year, he may have challenged for the super bowl last year. Too bad he left but understandable since the NFL is a young mans game.
I have so many fond memories of Coach Gibbs and the Redskins. May God richly bless Coach Gibbs in his much deserved retirement! An incredible coach and even better human being. Thank you Coach for everything. I love you.
Clinton Portis kinda threw him under the bus at the start of the 2008 season when he talked about how he felt he was being used/misused. We refer to Gibbs as "Daddy" in my house. As in "Daddy will fix it." Of course, he did.
How long will The Danny and his stooges own this team? This is a tribute to the days when we were real, a class franchise . . . The Squire, Bobby Beathard, and Coach Joe. We had those three Super Bowls and no one can ever take that away.
i second that hail joe gibbs 3 superbowls with 3 different qb"s three nascar championships with 2 defferent drivers and a daytona 500 winning car owner joe is a winner he is a legand hail to joe gibbs and to the redskins and joe gibbs racing
