@apaija I suppose you are the god of music and can order musicians what can do and what cant. Otherwise, let this guy make music they like and if you dont, go see other videos.
I love this bass playing by the way, and I dont care if its reggae or rock or funk or wathever
@KurtSandford if you ever tab this song out on your computer I'd love a copy mate. Catchy riffs like this are way to hard to find. Out of the few I've this is defiantly my favorite.
I'de love to say i will send you the tabs for this, but i KNOW i will never bother to tab it out. I'm just being honest here, i don't like tabs at all, i don't use them or even know how to use them to be honest. But, if you get the 2 chords im playing, add the timing and feel around it WILL all come to you in time. : ) Sorry i can't be of that much help. I'm sure you will find it! And when you do you will feel good that you did it yourself. And you will become a better player this way, Trust me.
@MrCloanz would you mind telling me those two chords? Once I know the two chords I'll download this video, chuck it on my ipod then try and get it right. It will take me ages to learn this (if i can at all) but i would love to have a go. cheers for the advice on this one to mate.
@KurtSandford if I do manage to learn this I'll see if I can tab it up for you and send it to you. Just so you can people like me and etritb happy aye. Least I can do.
hey man, i'm fond of your work, just can't stop listening at this groove... no ending, yeah i have to listen to it again when its over aaaaaaaaaaahaha
hey props to anyone who can do that thumb picking stuff. I have tried over and over again to learn it and incorporate it into my slap riffs but still after all this time I have not obtained the ability
Wow. Just the other day I was wondering if the thumb technique could be properly used in a syncopated reggae melody. I must say this groove has me feeling mad irie. Technique can only do so much if the musicianship is absent. A perfect blend of melody and technical prowess! Marcus Miller would be proud I'm sure. Cheers
Hey, can you give me some idea what you`re doing for your technique on this piece. That`s a style of playing I`ve been wanting to learn but I`ve been having trouble finding any songs that have it that aren`t virtuoso pieces. Thanks!
mate this is my favourite vid of yours. erm if you ever fancy playin with a band id be up for a jam sometime. probs be free-est in the summer. im not your standard but might get some cool sounds flowin in a decent jam. dom
I'm no where near your skill level, I'm 15 and have been playing bass for 3 years and play in a indie/ska band.
I was wondering how you managed to learn all these different bass skills, and what some of the techniques you used are. I'd love to put some effort into trying to learn this amazing style. Maybe if you'd be able to could you get back to me, maybe even with some ways I can try to learn these skills?
Well something i did learning the bass was i didn't really start the journey like many other people do... i learned a few songs, practiced some fingerstyle, then discovered slap bass, victor wooten, and mark king. Both of them my main inspirations. And basicly started off learning pieces like classical thump, jumping right in the deep end, then backtracked later learning my scales and chords and so on. :)
Okay, thanks for the direction. I think I know where to go now in learning bass skills. I know basic slap bass, but I'm going to take some time to learn Victor Wooten's double thumb technique and hopefully after awhile I'll get that down. It's challenging. Also, whats that technique you use around 15 seconds in the video? You use it multiple times and it sounds like a rolling muted note. I love the way that sounds.
this is fantastic man. I hope you copyright your music.ur sound is way to amazing to let loose on the net w/o holding the documents to ur work. Anyone can take ur music, n copyright it themselves even though you wrote 10 years ago, unless you get official documents stating that it is urs. It takes a lot of work of to do, and it can get costly if you put out many songs an want them all CR. but in the end, itd be terrible to hear someone play your jam and collect royalties from it. just a heads up
what i meant is thats just not the EQ I like for reggae, but yeah, its ur groove, u use whatever u want. I personally think ur really good. Its a really good EQ for metal tho, im trying to reach it cuz i play a lot of Stone Sour, Slipknot and some Death Metal and Indie
This was really great, keep up the good melodies! This is so much better then just random funk ultra hyper speed slapping. I might sound dumb but i rather listen to this than most of Wootens songs, just because this has so much more easy listening melody. Very good.
dude, if you are covering victor's 'amazing grace' - which is one of the coolest bass solos i've ever heard - then i think you are much better at harmonics than you say! looking forward to it...
Cant believe this has only 22,000 views. Great great great!

kurt, this is really fantastic. it's such a catchy groove...victor wooten, watch out!
have you ever thought about turning this groove into a full piece of music? (i'm thinking something like victor's 'more love').
Zander4724 3 years ago
This song was greatly inspired by his 'More love' actually.
And yeah, for sure i will, i just wanted to record this now and get it down so i don't forget anything!
I want to include some harmonics! i think they would go nicely, but i'm not an expert on them.
Just finishing Victors 'Amazing grace'. Expect it soon. =)
