  • Cant believe this has only 22,000 views. Great great great!

  • @lebassanova Share it with your friends then :D

  • don't slap reggae! keep reggae away from slap-sh...t! go slap other sh...t styles like rock or metal!!

  • @apaija I suppose you are the god of music and can order musicians what can do and what cant. Otherwise, let this guy make music they like and if you dont, go see other videos.

I love this bass playing by the way, and I dont care if its reggae or rock or funk or wathever

  • Nice beat all the way through. I love the way that the notes don't have to be perfect.

  • I love reggae bass solos.

  • @thefishingpro13 Me too! They're rare! LOL

  • Can u write down tabs please ? I really would like to learn this. Great job !

  • I'd download this and put it on loop but i don't have to. This riff has gotten stuck in my head so well that I hear it even when it isn't playing.

  • @MrCloanz Awesome :D Thanks for watching

  • @KurtSandford if you ever tab this song out on your computer I'd love a copy mate. Catchy riffs like this are way to hard to find. Out of the few I've this is defiantly my favorite.

  • I'de love to say i will send you the tabs for this, but i KNOW i will never bother to tab it out. I'm just being honest here, i don't like tabs at all, i don't use them or even know how to use them to be honest. But, if you get the 2 chords im playing, add the timing and feel around it WILL all come to you in time. : ) Sorry i can't be of that much help. I'm sure you will find it! And when you do you will feel good that you did it yourself. And you will become a better player this way, Trust me.

  • @MrCloanz would you mind telling me those two chords? Once I know the two chords I'll download this video, chuck it on my ipod then try and get it right. It will take me ages to learn this (if i can at all) but i would love to have a go. cheers for the advice on this one to mate.

  • Could you please write down the Tabs and mail them ? I'd to learn this xD .

    Its so awsome !

  • @etritb i'd like* to learn this

  • @etritb Sorry dude, no tabs! : (

  • @MrChondu

There is a completed version in my videos.

  • yeah good job my brotha!

  • Sickness with the BASS!!!!! Love this bass line bro. So wicked.

  • not too bad bro! ha how long have you been playing for?

  • Dude! you are soo awesome man! good job!

  • can that be tabbed...like honestly for my HSC!

  • Awesome playing man. I need to improve a lot my double thump, haha.

    Greets.

  • man thats sweet, you need to make a lesson or sumthing on how to even start to do that

  • ive neevr listen to a slap bassist play like that before. good job bro!

  • When you threw in those harmonics i shivered.. Man that's awesome!

  • How do you do that? Id give anything to know..

  • god you are amazing!

  • Thanks for all the awesome comments =]

  • this dude's amazing!

  • YOOOO... THEM TRIPLETS!! u have accomplished complete neatness and articulation.. can u make a vid about how u do ur triplets?? .. plz?

  • hes utilizing the standard double pluck technique

  • hey props to anyone who can do that thumb picking stuff. I have tried over and over again to learn it and incorporate it into my slap riffs but still after all this time I have not obtained the ability

  • Jusus H Chrsit that is unbelieveably cool... I am now going to go away and devote a part of my life to creating my own version of that technique...

  • Wow. Just the other day I was wondering if the thumb technique could be properly used in a syncopated reggae melody. I must say this groove has me feeling mad irie. Technique can only do so much if the musicianship is absent. A perfect blend of melody and technical prowess! Marcus Miller would be proud I'm sure. Cheers

  • Hey, can you give me some idea what you`re doing for your technique on this piece. That`s a style of playing I`ve been wanting to learn but I`ve been having trouble finding any songs that have it that aren`t virtuoso pieces. Thanks!

  • what is that technic lol learn it to me:D

  • damn sounds awesome wish i was with the drums jamming right next hahahaha keep it up

  • Fucking badass! Is this your bassline?

  • yeah man, i wrote this one :)

  • I must say your technique is awesome. Are you in any bands? maybe a vid on youtube?

  • he is now, theres a vid on this channel

  • name song?

  • Was just a groove... never did get used i'm afraid

  • @KurtSandford NEVER GOT USED!!!!!!!!! U NEED TO USE THIS!!

  • exellent

  • Kurt you douche I love this song, hurry up and write more and finish it. Love Double Harold =D

  • mate this is my favourite vid of yours. erm if you ever fancy playin with a band id be up for a jam sometime. probs be free-est in the summer. im not your standard but might get some cool sounds flowin in a decent jam. dom

  • vincenzo maurogiovanni!

    haha, what a name :p

    you rock!

  • I'm stunned man, this is amazing!

I love your sound, its upbeat but calm.

I'm no where near your skill level, I'm 15 and have been playing bass for 3 years and play in a indie/ska band.

I was wondering how you managed to learn all these different bass skills, and what some of the techniques you used are. I'd love to put some effort into trying to learn this amazing style. Maybe if you'd be able to could you get back to me, maybe even with some ways I can try to learn these skills?

  • Hey there Andrew.

Well something i did learning the bass was i didn't really start the journey like many other people do... i learned a few songs, practiced some fingerstyle, then discovered slap bass, victor wooten, and mark king. Both of them my main inspirations. And basicly started off learning pieces like classical thump, jumping right in the deep end, then backtracked later learning my scales and chords and so on. :)

  • Okay, thanks for the direction. I think I know where to go now in learning bass skills. I know basic slap bass, but I'm going to take some time to learn Victor Wooten's double thumb technique and hopefully after awhile I'll get that down. It's challenging. Also, whats that technique you use around 15 seconds in the video? You use it multiple times and it sounds like a rolling muted note. I love the way that sounds.

    Thanks for you help!

  • It's a muted double pluck :)

Check out my advanced slapbass lesson, i explain it :)

  • this is fantastic man. I hope you copyright your music.ur sound is way to amazing to let loose on the net w/o holding the documents to ur work. Anyone can take ur music, n copyright it themselves even though you wrote 10 years ago, unless you get official documents stating that it is urs. It takes a lot of work of to do, and it can get costly if you put out many songs an want them all CR. but in the end, itd be terrible to hear someone play your jam and collect royalties from it. just a heads up

  • ever thought of transcribing your work or tabbing it? because to be honest.. i'd love to play your stuff

  • Man dude your going to be better then Victor and Claypool!!! lol ;)

  • a very well donee to youu kurt :)

    Youu do rockkk tbh

    ly x

  • yeah i actually have wanted to comment on how epic your tone is for a while. don't listen to slipknot, your tone kicks serious ass.

  • hey kurt! this vid just made my day. i can listen to this piece for hours, it's great! =)

    i totaly agree with snusansmammut!

keep doin what u do best!

  • Hey man, very nice playing, but honestly, the EQ is just not right

i think u should use more Lows and Medium/Lows and less Highs and Medium Highs

  • Thanks

But personally i think that's a beautiful sound.

  • Oh yeah, for sure, i love the sound

what i meant is thats just not the EQ I like for reggae, but yeah, its ur groove, u use whatever u want. I personally think ur really good. Its a really good EQ for metal tho, im trying to reach it cuz i play a lot of Stone Sour, Slipknot and some Death Metal and Indie

  • what does one do when trying to play reggae? I'm not sure where to start...

  • first time I've gotten into a bass solo

  • i just love this tune ..

ill be waiting for an ending

    keep up the great work

  • This was really great, keep up the good melodies! This is so much better then just random funk ultra hyper speed slapping. I might sound dumb but i rather listen to this than most of Wootens songs, just because this has so much more easy listening melody. Very good.

  • Thank-you very much. =]

  • love all the upbeat notes, gives it a real reggae feel. and you DO read music right?

  • Ok Kurt here's the deal. You're too fucking good! I'd love for you to do a tutorial on double thumbing and your overall slap technique!

  • Hahaha, thanks man!

Hmm, i NEED a new webcam, and a new way to record. My laptop finally bit the dust after recording this! Broken.

I will in the future, as soon as i have a reliable way to record the vids will be flowing in mate.

  • Kick ass!

  • Awesome...I love your style!

    Subscribed*

    :)

  • Thanks for the support man!

  • yo man we have to finish that tune

  • kurt, this is really fantastic. it's such a catchy groove...victor wooten, watch out!

have you ever thought about turning this groove into a full piece of music? (i'm thinking something like victor's 'more love').

  • This song was greatly inspired by his 'More love' actually.

And yeah, for sure i will, i just wanted to record this now and get it down so i don't forget anything!

I want to include some harmonics! i think they would go nicely, but i'm not an expert on them.

Just finishing Victors 'Amazing grace'. Expect it soon. =)

  • dude, if you are covering victor's 'amazing grace' - which is one of the coolest bass solos i've ever heard - then i think you are much better at harmonics than you say! looking forward to it...

  • dude you rock r shud i say yu reggae!
